Cottonwood is a scenic red rock Canyon. The 1st half mile is pretty close to the interstate and you hear a lot of noise from cars but once you drop down into the canyon it gets much quieter. The bottom of the Canyon is often difficult walking because of all the small boulders. For the 1st mile or so look for paths on either the left or right bank.

This review is for the hiking loop CCW Cottonwood Hills trail, to the Spanish Wash connector, and back on the Prospector trail. In all a 6.75 mile loop. The trailhead is accessed via a dirt road between two businesses making it feel like you might be trespassing on their drives as you ease onto the dirt road.Encountered a Great Basin rattlesnake, lizards, wild flowers and views. Prospector is too close to the Interstate, but hey its a trail. Spanish Wash is very sandy, if you take this loop in a CW direction not only do you get to walk in sand, but also uphill. A 4th star if the wash wasnt part of this, and the 5th if further away from the Interstate.Prospector looks like an excellent mtb trail.

This is a review for hiking cottonwood canyon. It is wilderness so no bikes are allowed. Also its is incredibly rocky. Horses would struggle. Its a pain to walk. Constantly jumping from Boulder to Boulder. Pretty hike but challenging.Other trails are probably great for bikes. Lots of bikers there. Also dogs are allowed

Great place to access prospector. South to church rock, north to Quail Creek. Great place to hang out and get a good mountain bike ride in.

Very beautiful area with amazing views great hiking. The trails are always in pretty good shape and the trailhead is always clean. Pretty easy to get to. Not a lot of parking at the trailhead its on a busy weekend you may not be able to get in right at the trailhead but theres open desert theres plenty of parking back towards the freeway

Well-hidden trailhead but worth the trip. Prospector was a fun trail and Church Rocks was even better!

To reach the trailhead, travel the Old Hwy. 91 north of Telegraph Rd. Continue through the industrial area until you reach the Winkle (Coors Light) building. There is a dirt road on the north side of the building. Drive the short road through two I-15 underpasses to reach the parking area of the trail. There is a pit toilet in the parking area. Located in the Red Cliffs Reserve, there are many trails that connect such as Prospector, Cottonwood Hills and Wash and the Red Reef Trail. All are spectacular and can be used by hikers, bikers and horses. Good trails to hike with your dog and let him run. There is no water so make sure you bring enough. Good hike for fall and winter.

One of the better Trail heads for a biking trail there is out here theres a bathroom thats nice if you need to drop a deuce before your ride and theres plenty of parking but its a little bit out of the way if you dont know where youre going so you might want to use your Maps or ask a friend for directions.
