I took the Basic Pistol Training class yesterday. It was given in 2 parts. Gary Miller was our instructor (Ill go so far in calling him our professor, since he really knows his stuff). First part of the course is in a classroom setting - where we learned safety, mechanics and proper use of our firearms. After the 5 hour class we continued our training with hands on use of our pistols at the range. For a first timer, I felt that I was extremely well informed and trained in the use of my gun. Which means I also felt safe in the use of my pistol...which to me was very important. I would definitely recommend this training course for the close, individualized instruction Phase 3 offers!

This was a great class. The pace was good and went over a ton of stuff. The instructors are respectful, professional with personality. They made sure we had a thorough understanding before proceeding, answering questions as they happened. Not only did they go over the NRA guidelines they also threw in their own experiences. Im new to handguns and left feeling comfortable and ready for the next level. The range part was helpful and i learned proper stance, grip and how to safely load, unload and deal with malfunctions which actually occurred. Gary and Curtis were great! Thank You!

I completed my first Phase 3 class today in Intro to Rifles. I say first because I am definitely going back. Gary, Curtis and staff were professional yet fun. We covered lots of material and I felt I received a wonderful education. Mike was super responsive and helpful in booking and supplying info. Highly recommend.

This was my first time taking a training course, and it was amazing! Gary Miller gave a well-thought narrative, relevant and easy to understand. Highly recommend for both beginners and even those who think they know about rifles!

I had been wanting to take an RSO course for some time and, based on the recommendation of a friend, signed up with Phase 3 Training. Took the RSO course with Mike and Gary and found it very worthwhile. While much of the information they present is determined by the NRA course material, they did a great job of interjecting life experience, stories and discussions. Overall it was a great course and an eye opener as to what goes on behind the scenes regarding the safety aspect and procedures that should be followed. I wouldnt hesitate in recommending the course to anyone, especially those who want to be more informed than the casual shooter. I will certainly be taking more classes with Phase 3.

I took the pistol course this past weekend and cant say enough good things about the class and instructors at Phase 3. Gary and Curtis were knowledgeable and helpful, so was Cleon at the range! Small class size was awesome and allows for personalized attention. Thanks to them, im comfortable with all aspects of my firearm. Looking forward to taking some other courses in the near future. Recently had a 2 on 2 private training session. Curtis and the other instructor were very knowledgeable with the various firearms we were using. I plan to take their defensive pistol course later this month. I highly recommend Phase 3.

Excellent NRA pistol class for beginners or those needing a refresher. Gary and Curtis are patient and knowledgeable instructors. Small class size(6) is a differentiator and allows for more personalized instruction. Looking forward to enrolling in future classes to gain more experience.

I was completely new to handguns when I went to Phase 3 for the basics of pistol shooting class. The class room portion of the training was done by Mike and Curtis and they did a great job going over the material. The range portion had every student paired with an instructor so everyone had hands on training to learn safety, grip, aiming and trigger control. Curtis offered advice and encouragement during this session (which I needed). I enrolled in the class so that I would feel comfortable handing and shooting my pistol. At the end of the day I was confident that I got what I wanted from the class.

I would recommend phase 3 classes in firearms They are exceptional. I recently took the NRA basic rifle class. The instructors were knowledgeable, professional and friendly I learned a great deal about safety and rifle shooting, and most importantly I am no longer intimidated and anxious about firearms. Gary my instructor helped me after the class with follow up questions and a detailed lesson on rifle cleaning. Phase 3 is the best

I originally took the basics of pistol shooting course to satisfy the licensing requirements for Connecticut. I thought that I was fairly knowledgeable already and would therefore not get much out of the course other than a piece of paper saying I had taken it. I really could not have been more wrong. This course really covers everything you need to know about handling, shooting and maintaining a pistol.You learn so much: The physics of shooting, different types of guns with different types of actions (I knew nothing about revolvers), the various types of ammunition, how to safely clear a malfunction and so much more.Safety is paramount to Mike and his guys. He teaches and follows proper procedure for handling a firearm, and I never felt anything but 100 percent safe in the classroom and at the range.There is a marksmanship component of the course. Just passing is fairly easy, but Mike and the guys encourage you to take your shooting to the next level (There are 4 levels of shooting proficiency in total, but you only need to make level 1 to pass). I felt like my groups really improved after the instructors gave me feedback on my stance, breathing and grip.There are also the little things like techniques to minimizing your exposure to lead at the shooting range and when cleaning your pistol. It might seem trivial, but Mike demonstrates what potential long-term effects it can have on you.In short, I got a ton out of this course and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who has any interest in shooting.

I found Phase 3 after a lengthy research process. I have been involved with firearms for over 40 years, but never thought about shooting with a pistol. I greatly understand the responsibility taken when using a firearm, so when I decided to move on to pistol, I went looking for the best school I could find.All the instructors at Phase 3 have the knowledge, understanding, and patience needed to teach you how to handle firearms. Mike, the owner, oversees every phase of training. I was very impressed with the attention to detail in course presentation and the hands-on practice.Phase 3 offers many courses from Basic to advanced Defensive. Im sure I will be returning for a few more courses. I found it fun, entertaining, but very educational.I would like to thank all the instructors at Phase 3 for being a part of this company. Attended the basics of rifle shooting class with Mike and the phase 3 guys. As someone with no prior experience with guns, I have to say these guys really know how to reach across and explain to you. Safety is heavily emphasized at all times. With guns, I think its very important to start with the correct foot first and Phase 3 will definitely help you with that. I highly recommend Phase 3 and look forward to taking more classes!

I signed up with a friend for the Phase 3 Basic Rifle course that I found through the NRA website. We had a great time, and learned so much. We felt very safe, and had the most knowledgeable instructors. The best part was the low instructor to student ratio. We all received lots of 1:1 time both in the classroom and on the range. Mike, Gary, and Curtis were also very helpful letting us know ways in which we might continue in the sport. I highly recommend Mike and his team at Phase 3. They are a class act.

Mike was awesome. The class was casual, informative and essential for safe ownership of pistols. Cleon and Gary added great information and tips for success. The small class size was great for learning and the hands on practice shooting with one on one guidance from the instructors really made a difference from past training. The Range Safety Officer course was very informative. While I thought I had the necessary experience, the class opened my eyes to wide range of new knowledge. I recently attended the NRA basics of pistol shooting course. I would highly recommend Phase 3 Training to anyone interested in learning the basics of handing a pistol. Handgun safety is emphasized and threaded throughout the program from beginning to end The course is very hands on and conducted by a highly professional and knowledgeable staff.

Had the opportunity to take the NRA Basic Rifle Class with Mike on 1/19/2018. I cant say enough about how fantastic it was!As a novice to firearms and shooting, it was important to me to get foundational learning and training. This class met all those needs and much more. We covered safety, perfect level of introductory basics on various rifles and ammo, shooting techniques, etc. We also discussed cleaning and caring for firearms and more. After classroom time we went to the range and had 1:1 personal instruction with my own new firearm. I walked away knowledgeable and extremely comfortable with understanding, operating and caring for my firearm. And it was a TON of fun!Mike is exceptionally and expertly trained, informed and capable with anything and everything related to firearms and shooting. There wasnt a single question he couldnt answer and expand upon. He was also extremely thoughtful in his instruction. He took time to understand my experience, specific interests and goals, and tailored instruction based on my personal needs. He answered all my questions (I had a ton) and has offered to make himself available beyond the class. Most importantly, Mike was incredibly patient and thorough with all the dumb questions I had as a newbie. Getting into this sport/hobby is intimidating and I cant recommend Mike and this course enough to get you past that feeling and into a very comfortable place.Im already anxious to get into additional classed with Mike & Phase 3!

I recently took the NRA pistol training class. Mike is a great instructor. He made the class interesting and informative. The other half of the class was the range portion. During the range, I always felt safe and comfortable. Everyone in the range had one on one instructors. The instructor I had gave me great feedback to help improve my shooting. I would highly recommend everyone take a class from Phase 3 training, there is always something you can take away from these classes.

I had an amazing time in both the classroom and at the range. The instructors were all very nice and pleasant to talk too. I never felt unsafe during any segment of the course. I took a lot from that course and have no regrets on attending it.

Mike is an excellent instructor. During the classroom portion Mike was responsive to all questions asked. I received plenty of necessary and pragmatic information during the classroom portion of the course. The course was structured as well as comfortable and relaxed.At the range, Mike was able to immediately provide helpful recommendations to improve my technique and tips for my future trips to the range. The range portion of the class was safe as well as fun. You can’t beat that combination in my opinion. The course isn’t meant to teach everything there is to know all at once but it will provide you with a good foundation to build upon. I’m looking forward to enrolling in Phase3 Training courses in the near future!

I recently took the all day NRA Rifle training course with my wife. We wanted to walk away feeling completely safe, knowledgeable, able to shoot and confident to go out and buy rifles & shoot on our own. Mike did not disappoint. His classroom session was A+, presenting and answering any and all questions. No question was too silly for a beginner. His class size is small so everyone got great attention. There was even some hands on activities there. At the live fire range, his class was actually one-on-one, everyone had their own bay to themselves with their personal trainer. Who can beat that! At the range, Mikes assistants came in and they were just as professional and knowledgeable. Andrew, Anthony and Anthony were all top notch. So how was the course? Well, weve already been to the shop to buy our first rifles, went to the range and shot on our own, felt completely confident and did great. Everything we wanted. Kudos to Phase 3!

I took the basic rifle training course with Phase 3 Training. The course I was involved in was led by Mike who held the course to the highest possible standards.Mike went in depth on all fundamentals of rifles, their parts and how they work. The course also went into great detail on proper firing techniques and some basic info for home self defense. We had a great experience firing a the range with hands on advice specific to the individual on firing more accurately and efficiently.At the end of the course Mike even went out of his way to make suggestions as to what firearms would work best for individual needs and offered to come make selections with some of the students who were looking for a little bit more help.Phase 3 Training has excellent programs led with passion and enthusiasm that leads to nothing short of 5 star quality in an affordable and personalized program.

I took the Basic Pistol course and WOW. I am a new shooter. I have been to the range a few time and my shots were all over the target. With just one lesson, I started hitting where I was aiming. The owner and instructors were incredibly. They were patient and friendly, some of the nicest people I have ever met. All instruction is one on one. I highly recommend Phase 3 Training for first time shooters and anyone looking to improve their skills.

I took the NRA Range Safety Officer class with Phase 3. Mike Pigno gives an excellent, well thought out, detail orientated class. It’s not just a boring classroom class, you get an enormous amount of info. We went just later than the approximate time for the class to end, never did we feel rushed or we didn’t have something covered.If your looking to take a class that you will actually learn something, I highly recommend Phase 3. I hope to take more of their classes in the future.If your looking for a run of the mill snooze fest class, look elsewhere. You definitely get your $ worth with Phase 3.

Spent the day with Mike and his team. Have taught my daughter how to shoot and just wanted her to learn from a different person and to have her taught or have a new person evaluate her and her technique learned. I attended a class and Mike was the instructor. He was articulate, patient and extremely knowledgeable. He provided everything we needed for a Utah and Florida CCW license. I would highly recommend this class to anyone.

Recently took the Defensive Pistol I through Mike and team P3T. The pre-course briefing that was sent out prior to the course set a great tone for the actual class---extreme focus on safety, what to expect, more safety, and what to bring. Did I mention safety? Class started on time. Class setup was super-organized and the importance of safety was stressed again. In addition to the instructor, there were 2 RSOs. Instruction was great, drills were fantastic! Individualized help and guidance was offered throughout the class. All done in a supportive and encouraging environment! Was loads of fun and much was learned and reinforced!

Im extremely happy that Mike took the time out to teach us the art of shooting. He has broken down the material to our understanding without taking away from it. I just recently completed the class for basics of pistol shooting. I have been shooting for awhile and was taught by friends and family. I met Mike at an NRA benefit and was intrigued by the classes he gave. He asked me why am I interested in taking this course and I told him that I learned long ago it is not always wise to learn things from friends &/or family if you want to learn correctly learn from a professional. And that is exactly what Mike and his team are, professionals. They corrected my stance my grip and helped me with my breathing. (No one ever mentioned proper breathing to me) The confidence and encouragement that they gave was so fantastic. I now feel so much more comfortable with my firearm and can’t wait to take another class. The classroom portion was as equally important and very well presented and covered. I strongly recommend anyone new to the sport or anyone who has learned from friends or family to take the course you will come away with so much knowledge and new and correct techniques. I have taken 2 classes so far with Phase 3 training, 1 was full classroom and the 2nd class was a combination of classroom and range live fire. Just took the NRA RSO (Range Safety Officer) class with Mike and could not have asked for a better experience. I recently enrolled in an NRA Home Firearm Safety course with Phase 3 Training...and it was one of the best firearms courses that I have ever taken. I have been active in the shooting sports for the past 48 years and have taken numerous firearms courses, including 5 with another local firearms training company within the past 12 months alone.Mike Pigno demonstrated an ultra-safe adherence to the basic rules of firearms safety at every moment during the course (in which he and the students handled actual handguns, rifles and shotguns). At all times I felt completely safe in Mikes presence, and he presented the educational material in a friendly and professional manner.Mike adhered to the NRAs required training curriculum, and also added a great deal of important and practical real-life information, which made this course even better! In addition, Mike was well prepared for the class, and used excellent teaching aids (including a PowerPoint presentation, mockups, firearms parts, and dummy rounds snap caps) to get his points across.As a result of the very positive experience that I had, I am looking forward with great enthusiasm to taking many more classes with Phase 3 Training during the months ahead. And I have already begun to spread the word amongst all of my fellow shooting enthusiasts.I highly recommend this companys firearms training courses to anyone who wants the best training available.

I really cant say anything negative about the RSO class. It appeared Mike followed the NRA course manual the whole class. If you think your getting out early think again. My fellow students could talk and talk and talk and pushed class 40 extra min.
