Second time my niece had her Birthday party there. Had fun.

Interesting spot. I dont know if its new, but I dont want it to be. I will definitely keep returning till it becomes the good ole spot we hang out at to do karaoke.The line wasnt crowded. There was candy at the end of it. Maybe it was for Halloween? There wasnt a sign letting me know, and I didnt think to ask. I just took some (a Heath bar to be precise). Im super grateful they thought to do something for the occasion, but here is where I have to (((rant))).I love Halloween. Its one of the few holidays that allows us to do something special. During Halloween, we can decorate ourselves in costume, decorate the environment with props , and then decorate our lives by getting out and enjoying it all!!!That said, Halloween it aint THAT special. Or at least, it shouldnt be. I dont like how a holiday can just decorate me by dictating to me when I can get some free candy.On the inside, there was a liquid courage station and a fairly large singing lounge with a few private lounges off to the side. It gave me a semi-random idea. What if the lounges where graduated and allowed you to move from singing to sanging? Wouldnt that be fun?I do have to minus a star. I wasnt able to create the sort of song theme I wanted to experience. Also, I cant make it sound TOO good. There has to be something negative, something to deter folks and inspire them to stay home and rest their germs and their voice so it can be fierce later.Will definitely have to revisit so I can sing a few more songs with my family and friends!

We had an Ladies Night Out. Really had great time. About 7 of us, we all sign up to sing Karaoke. But, it started getting pack and only one of us didnt get the chance to sing. Needs to be a better way to get all to participate.

The remodel they did its insane! The waitress was super attentive, the room was spacious and very comfortable. Only thing was the TV kept freezing on room 6 if we sang too loud or something, we were drinking so we kept forgetting to ask the waitress to see if she could fix it

Oh my goodness, I celebrated my birthday here on Aug 14th, and had such a GREAT Time. We had a private room which was HUGE! I was glad that I was able to bring my own outside food, the drinks were flowing, I was singing and dancing all night, Even some of my friends that said that they were not going to be singing and dancing, well they were totally up there singing and dancing. I recommend this place! Thanks Charlie!!!

What a fun place! We started at the hookah lounge right across the street and ended our night here. Ordered chicken wings and sushi and both were great. Two high school sweethearts who have been married 28 years sang A Thousand Years and it was magical. They even brought a saxophone on stage. Unforgettable night.

Came here for a birthday party and had Lots of fun. Nice private room or optional public area to view non birthday party participants, and the drinks were nice as well. I appreciate the fact that they let you bring your own food as well.My only con was that the room was really hot and the waitress seemed really confused on how to handle multiple drink tickets. She not only charged the wrong persons card, but then we were hit with a $90 drinkwith no listing as to what we were charged for each drink.

Good food .. decent bar tenders. But horrible place to Karaoke as the the Karaoke hosts are rookies both times that I have been there.I have been singing like a rock star past decade, but here the karaoke host messed up the version of the song. I could barely sing 2 songs in 3 hours. No point tipping the karaoke host. He is just a mechanical machine and the only person he bumps up is the owner and the regulars.The cook is good but it is a one man army. So a simple order of seaweed salad takes 25 minutes to deliver. 4 of us spent over $220 in 3 hours and I got 2 songs to sing, that too the karaoke host messed up my favorite track that i have been singing all over the US in every Karaoke bar I have gone to past 10 yearsI wont go there for Karaoke again unless iti s a Wednesday lol. Wish it was better there, considering that it is a good location.Voice Karaoke is a 100 times better for Karaoke , service, fun, karaoke technology , host and food.. worth the drive.

Honest Al here.Great spot for individual parties or if you and a couple of friends want to test your skills while paying average price for anything you want to drink. The plus side is that you can order food or bring food for your party.Song selection is great, and stage has lights and seats. Admission is free so take advantage!!

Awesome place. We reserved a room for my friends birthday music selection was good wish they had more Houston artist in the list. The first waitresses had was not so good took forever with drinks after we got a new waitresses everything was fine

Owner Charlie was awesome in accommodations and letting us come in early to set up and get our party started in our private room. Drinks were on point and seating was comfortable!! We all enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back. The only thing I wish was bigger were the womens bathroom stalls.

The staff are amazing and the crowd is fun any night of the week. The sushi is fresh and delicious but the drink prices are expensive. They could really use better drink specials especially durring the week. Hard to compete with other bars in the area that have good drink specials.

I was invited here for a friends birthday party. The service was okay and the karaoke room had a good set up for a private party. I will most likely not come back here unless its another birthday party Im invited to. I was not impressed with the overall experience.

Great time to be had with friends and complete strangers! Song selection needs to be opened up more but an overall good time. Drinks are reasonably price for the most part.

It was my first time here. I came for my birthday, and had a great time. The drinks and food were good. The only thing is the food menu doesnt start until 10 or 1030pm. Ill definitely be back.

Super fun place for a night or birthday party. The sushi is decent but the drinks are good and strong. Recommend renting a private room pretty early on for parties because they get booked quickly.

$10 cover, no biggie. Except for a cover I expect to be able to actually sing. They had a hour and a half wait to sing. Then they lost our spot. We had to convince the DJ to let us sing. From what I could tell the group in front of us was doing the same. Limited songs, meh, it happens but we were asking for top hits, songs that are generally available. Also nobody answers if you call, I tried a couple of different times. That probably should have been my sign to find somewhere else. I know for next time. Good drinks, and kind of clean. Service was pretty on top of it, so thats good.

Karaoke in the main dining is decent. You get a really good performance every once and a while but this highly depends on the audience. Karaoke in the private rooms is more fun since your group has unlimited access on the machine. The problem with this place is the nickel and dime you at every step. They refuse to serve you tap water unless you are visibly drunk. Instead, you have to pay $3 for a bottle of water. Pretty absurd to serve me 5 drinks and not encourage I drink water. Ive also experienced an automatic gratuity of 20% each time Ive come (once with 3 others, once in a private room). Service both times was subpar at best, nothing to warrant a generous 20% tip. (Im obviously more understanding of the surcharge in the private room) Youll have fun here but you wont enjoy the tab at the end of the night.

I dont know that I could have had a worse experience. Me, and about 10 friends showed up and ordered food from the sushi bar. I, who was desperate for food, ordered first of anyone. They have exactly one sushi chef. We ordered around 11:00 PM. At 1:30am (2 1/2 hours later) the waitress told me that they were out of sushi rice and couldnt complete part of my order. For the rest, they claimed they delivered it to me.As I was starving, and not participating in Karaoke, this is not possible. I was waiting for food the entire time while everyone around me received orders. At the end of the night, I was given no help and told that nothing could be done. I was robbed. Horrible experience, will never return.

It was great. The environment and all. But the waitresses are rude. The staff there is unprofessional. They cant control random people from going to the rooms people book, then when the waitresses come to serve drinks they blame you for the unwanted guest and their behavior. And try to keep your deposit by jumping too conclusions. It would of been a perfect night but again the wait staff have no hospitality at all. Spoke with Cindy about the waitress we had and her demeanor. She seemed less concerned as well. Then when I tried to find the other manager on duty, the Chinese guy near the restrooms, I guess he was making food... He brushed us off saying he couldnt help us he was too busy. Does anyone here know how to treat guest, paying customers, patrons?? It would of been 1 star for the customer service. Overall experience of the place was great tho. Please train your entire staff on hospitality. You will lose alot of business without it. It was first time there and I dont think Ill be back for that reason.

Dont like the system the DJ uses when selecting people to sing. Was there 5 hours and didnt get on stage once. While others there went multiple times

Great place! I love it for group outings. It is very spacious and the drinks are good. They have a very large music playlist. Not a lot of new songs but the songs are fairly new.

I am giving it two stars bc the owner and the DJ were amazing and very welcoming. First off they charge a cover and they have people checking your purse that arent even security certified. One lady was out there using all kinds of profane language while they were ordering panda express. Talk about professional huh? Only two servers. We get there and theres practically no one there but they placed name cards on all the tables and booths as if they were going to be packed. The drinks are not only watered down but the server and bartender started talking about how we sent our drinks back because they simply werent right. Not to mention charging for premium alcohol but we got house. It got to the point where I had to mention the better business bureau and management in order for them to correct one drink. The only thing that made the night special was the DJ and the owner that came to talk to us personally. The first time I went here we did not have this time of service. Sadly, I would not recommend this establishment to anyone nor will I return.

Only good thing about this place is the $4 bud light. Signed up for karaoke, waited 2 hours and asked the DJ how long the wait was and sarcastically said 2 more hours. Not coming back.

It was cool. Very spacious rooms. At least ours was. It was a kid party. I would love to see what an adult karaoke party would be like though. Im sure it would be entertaining. They could use a better song list selection. Kinda weak. Or at least have it to where you could use your own. Waitstaff was not attentive at all. Had to walk to bar to get drinks. Drink prices werent toooooooo bad. But for damn sure wasnt good. But decent. Place had a foul odor. Overall not bad. Could have been better, but hey. I had a good time & the kids did too.

Got to the door, was asked if we had a reservation. Since we didn’t, was told it was standing room only. It was 8 pm. Wasn’t worth it. Went to a better karaoke bar in midtown (no, not the other Spotlight Karaoke).

So the place has a great vibe and atmosphere. The DJ was very funny and animated. Bartenders were great. I will say that you can bring your own food so Im not sure if all the other pics ppl posted were from another restaurant or not. You would need to research that your self. But it was fun. Would go back again.

I had a ton of fun singing karaoke. I sang everybody’s songs right along with them! LOL I deducted a point because the food was horrible and the server guy asked me if I wanted a particular item, I told him yes, but he failed to tell me the drastic difference in pricing until he brought me my food.

I went for my cousins birthday party and no one from the party including the birthday girl got an opportunity to sing. numerous people continuously sung guess they were regulars. no Ari Lennox, and the food is decent nothing to write home about.

We gave our mother a Surprise (Private) 70th Birthday Party in the Main Room in the afternoon. We have no complaints. My brothers and I started planning in March with Dixie and Charlie (Owner). Although this is a business they wanted us to be happy and we were. Yes they are in it to make a profit, $; however they also care. They aided us in some of the planning, gave ideas and we had no issues. The day of the event our guests were elated, our mother was in awe and still reflecting on how the ambience of the main room and atmosphere was loving, safe, happy, fun and memorable. (Good food we had brought in and awesome decor) We appreciate all you did SPOTLIGHT to ensure a great event. The place was clean, we got there 2 hours early to seup and the staff (janitor, Michelle) even helped us. Norris our DJ from Third Ward had us moving. Everything flowed because we planned our logistics, prayed in advance and both parties honored their commitments. Whenever we had questions, concerns they were willing to address in advance. I will be back to Spotlight. To see my mother happy was a memory I will never loose in this moment of time we will never see again.

It was very fun. Its hard getting on stage for karaoke and its better to RSVP, if you want a seat. We had a lot of fun and they have monitors up all over so you can sing along. There are several private rooms for parties also. The owner Mr. Lee was very nice and still can party at 90, right along with his 63 yr old daughter. I plan on going back next time Im in Houston. Get there early for better parking options.

My first time at Spotlight Karaoke and it was a fun experience. We had a party in the Private Room and it was really fun the karaoke machine was easy to use and our waiter was very attentive. I recommend coming here if you havent before. You will have lots of fun.

We had a party here which was amazing. It was extremely reasonable, and the service was phenomenal. They kept coming in to check on us and make sure we were okay. I definitely do this again.

Last night I attended a 50th birthday party there. We were in private room 6. While bringing in the food and decor the lady at the door checked every dish and bag we had (raised foil paper). We made about three trips same process that. On the final trip in other guest were in front of us with theyre dishes and bags, she didnt check any of it. Noticing we were behind them she becked for us to just go through this time with no check. Why were subject to be searched and not EVERYONE? Her reason for the intense search was because people sneaks in alcohol. Certain people or ALL people? DISCRIMINATION AT ITS FINEST

Our bartender Britney was super nice! The place is 21+ only and it’s in the corner of the plaza. At first, it didn’t look like much from the outside. But when you walk in, I’d enjoy a couple drinks here! My first time here with my girlfriend we will definitely be back to enjoy more! Karaoke spot!

There was a menu here that belongs to Asian restaurant next door. How was I supposed to know?? So they gave me the right menu finally. Some idiot guest probably stole the wrong menu. Anyway, karaoke was great. Until my 2nd song was delayed. Then became hungry/irritated because both bartenders told me to order from waitress. So i got back to my table with bday group of friends. Waitress was like sorry sweetie your group just moved up front. Tired of wasting time, I left for home and cooked. Got a unexciting vibe here if you are a big eater like me dont come here....go to a place thats professional and less crowded and non-noisy! Super shocked and embarrassed coming here for nothing. Enjoy your life like a boss. Dont pout just save your happiness.

It has been many years since I visited this venue. I was pleasantly surprised. It has been nicely remodeled inside and felt so much cleaner and inviting. The sushi bar was a great addition and the food we ordered was fresh and tasty. The service was friendly and fast. The entertainment of the brave souls that bare it all on stage was just as much fun as I rememebred. Such a great, easy fun night to enjoy solo, with friends or a large group!!

Had such a fun time. The wait to actually get on stage is a really long time and the waitress wasnt very friendly but the owner was very friendly and he actually performs. Will definitely be back. I definitely suggest reserving seats because it is very hard to find seating if you dont. Great time overall.

Used to be the best karaoke in Houston. Now its just too crowded, too expensive, and not enough opportunities to sing. I think Ill keep it local from now on and skip the long drive. Still a good time but to much competition out there to make sense anymore.

Fun place for karaoke but place smelled of stale oil. Kinda made me feel sick. Service was ok. I would definitely opt for a private room in the future.

The DJ for this night was extremely rude to the customers and openly made side comments about some of the singers on the mic, really unprofessional and left a sour taste in my mouth by the time I left. Definitely a waste of money especially with a cover charge, had a way better experience with the one in Midtown

Great place to come and sing drink eat. Loooooooove their sushi.Dont let a server tell you, You have to buy two drinks to sing all night. Someone tried it not knowing Im a regular on a different day and Ive never heard of that. I am not a drinker so the gesture was flawed. You simply tip the karaoke guy.

Great place to go with friends!If you like karaoke you will enjoy this place. I had fun every time I went to visit.The energy at this location is great. They have a shared area where you can go up and sing on stage to show off your singing skills. It’s awesome because the other customers who attend are very friendly and cheer anyone who has the confidence to get up on stage (my person experience).They have a pretty good song list option. And they have the option for you to reserve a private room if you’d like to host an event or if you just want your own privacy to sing.My feedback for improvement would be the layout of the private rooms. It seems a bit cramped with all the extra cubed chair furniture and little tables. It would be cool if they could come up with a layout that felt more open but accommodated both seating a places to put your drinks. I didn’t notice if they had food options, but if they did that would be great.Overall, I’ve been to this location several times and each time my friends and I had a great time :)

It was impossible to find our waitress, but the karoake was an even worse e perience. I dont know if the KJ was stoned or just didnt care. He took forever to cue up music. You could barely hear the singers over the incredibly loud background music, and he couldnt keep the slips in order either. Youd sometimes sing 20 minutes apart and sometimes over 2 hours apart. The mics only worked half of time. Dude needs a different career

I would give it 5 starts but I had to deduct a star because I had to pay $4 for one bottle of water. I think it’s a little ridiculous. Most places provide free water but 4 dollars for a normal bottle of ozarka is just ridiculous. The bottle of water and the red bulls are the same price... I don’t drink so I have to find other ways to buy drinks so I can sing because they have a policy that you have to drink to sing. Love the place love the environment but for those reasons i gave it a 4 star rating.

The rooms were decent but the service there was extremely slow. It took them almost an hour and a half before we were served the food that we had ordered. Furthermore we had asked to turn the fan off in the room because it was so cold but that didnt happen at all throughout the night. A nice place to karaoke with friends or in public but dont expect to be served in a timely manner at all. The food was decent nothing to special at all along with the drinks.
