Great place to shoot. Clean facility. When I brought some first time shooter friends they were very patient in explaining gun safety and rules. They also described what a squib load was and what to do if it happens. Just a great group of men and women here.

I went into Athena Gun Club to purchase a birthday gun package for a friend and Katy Mills gave me the best reception (as usual). She gave me information about the 1911 .45 gun, set up additional membership for me, and offered to package the surprise birthday gift. Shes always friendly and willing to help, which makes me keep coming back.I also spoke with Amy Burchfield, who spoke to me about setting up a birthday party.And I cannot cannot cannot forget about Matthew, in the retail shop, who sold me my new gun. Matthew gave me pointers on what to look for when purchasing a new gun and other various tidbits.Everyone is so friendly. I hope when you come up here, you too, experience the same friendly, professional service that I did.

It is a well designed and maintained range. The facility is top notch and the people are great. From the front counter with Katie saying hi and smiling, to Sergio teaching etc etc. it is a great group of customer focused folks. I always feel welcomed and enjoy my time there.

A great indoor range and retail location. The premise and building is well kept and the service is exceptional. The rental pieces are also maintained well and have a few different kinds to choose from. There is also an indoor simulation range. The retail portion of the store is nicely decorated and the sales people are helpful and knowledgeable. Been here a few times and havent had a bad experience. There are various levels of membership and is reasonable for the monthly dues. Definitely recommend the range especially for corporate functions and events.

My experience of Athena Gun Club started decently doing the standard filling out paperwork and taking a quick proficiency test to show I could use their rental guns. I went in with the intent to try a few pistols out for a carry gun and picked the 4 I was most interested in.I headed to the range and tried to start firing, testing out the Sig P238 before I let my Fiancée shoot it, but after 5 mis-fires and at least 10 jams trying to get 8 rounds of ammo through it I gave up on the gun. I had similar experience as I moved through the other guns I was trying. The couple in the lane next to us even came over to see if we were having the same jamming issue.I let the employees behind the gun counter know about the issue and if I could get any kind of refund of my $162.33 un-jamming session while being pelted with hot casings from the lane beside me, to which they told me to have a nice night.I for one will not be returning to Athena Gun Club.Also, this is also not a beginner friendly range.

If you’re looking for an instructor to enhance your skills or knowledge, Sergio is your guy! Highly professional, knowledgeable, and engaging. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and will be back. Great job Sergio!

I had a few questions and I spoke on the phone with Jacky, by far some of the best customer service I’ve ever received. She was polite, respectful, she spoke clearly and answered all my questions. She was wonderful!

Jacky is a superstar!Called Athena to inquire about one on one instruction. She quickly guided me to the section of their website that contained instructor information. She could have sent me on my way but chose to do the right thing for a potential customer.

Well this was my second visit to this range and, I have to admit, the first visit was enjoyable. This time, however, was a completely different matter. I rented a gun both times and I elected to rent one of their $30 options on this visit. Maybe I am wrong but for that price you should get a quality firearm to use. I proceeded to the range that we had rented for an hour, remember this, and l loaded and began to shoot. The first two rounds were a misfire and then a double feed. I proceeded to tell the attendant and she brought her own ammunition to try and she got off five rounds without instance. We chocked it up to poor ammo, which I purchased from them, and she very nicely gave me 50 rounds of her ammo. I began to use her “higher quality” ammo and continued to have hang-ups. I then spent more time swapping out the rental for another one of their high-end offerings. I managed to get through one mag in the gun without instance but on the second mag I loaded the spring shot out of the magazine on to the range. I then took that gun back to swap out and was given just something else in that tier. I proceeded to have misfires and hang ups with this now third rental. My friend put 36 rounds of this “bad batch” of ammo through his personal firearm and had 0 issues. Our “time ended” and we were told to wrap it up. I returned the weapon and we proceeded to leave. Unbeknownst to me, my friend had set an hour timer on his phone that went off after I had turned in the rental, smoked a cigarette, and we had drove to the next u-turn and was almost adjacent to the facility on the other side of the feeder, indicating that we were shorted out of a considerable amount of time. This was $129 that I will never get back but I won’t make the mistake of spending here again and I suggest you don’t either.

This is a convenient location, however the staff isn’t friendly or helpful. I started a membership, later canceling after realizing the staff wasn’t friendly. Today I attempted to enter the range after giving my visit some time, worst experience ever. An employee/manager (Sergio) denied me access to the range after I explained he wasn’t very helpful and very direct as if he wasn’t favorable of me. I then explain to Sergio I felt this had everything to do with race and nothing to do with policy. Athena “Gun Club” does seem to be a “Club” with particular service for different people.Last time visiting I noticed a staff member came in to tell a group of African American males they had to leave soon. The group asked why and the staff member, repeated “You guys have to wrap it up”. That situation concerned me, however I didn’t know what occurred prior to my arrival. Now it’s clear to me. I wouldn’t spend another penny here.

Dani is hands down one of the best instructors I have ever encountered. She’s polite, intelligent, and she knows her guns! If you need help ask for her!

Great place.It’s modern clean and comfortable, the staff member’s seem to enjoy their jobs.I personally find I shoot well at this range, perhaps due to the lighting. With that said I’ve been coming for years, it’s certainly not the cheapest, but it’s a good range, that does get busy so pick your times.Well worth your time and a good experience is always found.

Ordered an item that was available at the store on Friday, and received the order confirmation and was charged the full amount for the product. I didn’t hear anything by Saturday, so I decided to give them a call.Turns out they have one person that ONLY does online orders and is off on the weekends. Asked the Rep if my product was at least being held till Monday and they confirmed that it was indeed being held. Monday rolls around and all of a sudden my order has been canceled and I have been issued a refund. The reason said “Sold Out”. My question is, why did they take my money, send me an order confirmation just to turn around and sell my product and cancel my order?I didn’t even receive a call to let me know what was going on or why the item I had ordered was sold out, just an email with “sold out”. What is the point of an online website if the website is not accurate or does not guarantee your item will be held and sold to another consumer. Moral of the story kids is, don’t order on Fridays. Or just don’t order at all.

Excellent facility.Mr. Armando, one of the managers, was very kind and gave a tour to showcase their club.They have a lot to offer.A retail store, two different shooting ranges, a gun smith, a training simulator, and several classes.I highly recommend you stop by and check them out.Everyone was nice and pleasant, from the front door receptionist to the shooting range safety officer.You don’t have to be a member to utilize their facility, but of course, a membership gives you additional perks.Great club. All of the Conceal carry classes are full and i asked to reschedule to a day where i was not on a wait list and was told that all of the classes are full and if i decided to not show up i would still be charged even if the class is full which makes no sense since Im not gaining anything out of it since i would not be able to attend the class. So i will be getting my Conceal carry else where while these guys still have my $100... Was told all this in very sassy way and was smart mouthed during the conversation.

Ive been going here since it opened. It is a very nice and clean indoor gun range. Ive brought many guests here over the years and they are always impressed by the facility. They offer some nice amenities beside the range including a nice selection of firearms to rent, a retail/pro shop and simulator. One other thing I like about this range is that you can draw and shoot from the holster (after being evaluated and cleared by one of the instructors) which is not something you can do at many indoor ranges.

This review is based solely off of Athenas Gun range.My usual range didnt have the specific guns I wanted to rent, so after doing some Googling, i learned that Athena Gun Range did.The associates were pleasant, and the establishment is top notch. Some people may find their range shooting process a bit tediois, since it involves signing a waver, and then going to another station to get checked, but I found it refreshing. Their processes are set up for maximum safety, and everyone in the building was professional, knowledgeable, and polite.They also seem to offer plenty of classes, and training for all shooting levels.My first time shooting here was excellent, and Ill definitely be back for more range time, and education.I highly recommend Athena Gun Club to anyone looking for a safe, professional, and high quality gun range.

Tried this place out for the first time today. And I have to admit, my experience was amazing! Went for the Handgun essential class, and next time, for the Rifle essential class. Highly recommend this place. Y’all won’t be disappointed

The service and the quality of the place is outstanding. Safety is a big concern for me and their policies are wonderful about it. The overall experience is quite enjoyable. They rent almost any kind of gun/firearm and sell cartridges.I think is the best I door range in Houston.

Upscale gun club. It’s like the River Oaks of gun ranges. While it’s located outside of the loop - the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. It’s a very refreshing experience.I did my LTC course here and hands down it was an amazing experience.Look no further. This place is absolutely stunning.

Took the LTC class with Sergio..great environment with good people..he was very good at keeping us involved in the discussion..and great on the range...the range is top level and everyone there is very helpful.

This place isn’t good I don’t recommend going here. Went to shoot with my friend who is active duty in the military and customer service was very condescending and unprofessional with us and made very mean remarks to him.

People were pretty rude, and it wasn’t even busy. Go to Boyert shooting center 9 minutes away. The people are friendlier and it’s cheaper to shoot there. Don’t waist your time and money somewhere they don’t appreciate your business.

My favorite go to range when the weather at my outdoor range is too hostile. The staff here confirms the company’s dedication and determination to become the best gun range in houston. Each shoot lane is spacious well lit, and clean. The ventilation system is excellent as you will not see smoke coming out of you gun. Best of all, after being certified by the staff, you will be allowed to draw from holster. I don’t know any public gun range in houston have this option.

Knowingly sold me an out of date model, while staying it was new. I explained my needs, soft recoil, soft racking slide, easy to care for and they recommended a CCP. But instead of selling me the M2 version with easy takedown, they sold me the older M1 version. Im disappointed with these guys and will never go back there again.

You know the gun store who’s staff has an attitude and treats you like you know nothing about guns, well this is the really expensive version of it! They don’t know jack and most of the stuff is priced over msrp! But hey if you like being treated like a newbie while they snicker to each other right in front of you and like to overpay, this is the place for you!

Very nice facility inside and out. But the one of the female employees needs to be reprimanded for talking to people with such disrespect and lack of customer service. Definitely won’t be returning to Athena Gun Range.

Coming from CA it was very unusual to see guns right on the floor that you can handle and hold without someone taking it out from under glass. Makes me realize just how restricted CA is and how much other states have to offer as far as being able to purchase a firearm you actually want. My sweetheart and I shot a fully automatic AK and that was so much fun. There was an instructor with us and he was wonderful. Very professional and made us feel safe and comfortable. One of the highest end gun stores Ive ever seen. If we ever make it back, perhaps for a machine gun show, we will definitely make a stop at Athena. Thanks for the wonderful experience

Ignorant is a blessing!!! I think this range has also joined the CA law makers and range rules are based on the look of the firearms and not the functions.I have started going to Athena Gun Range in past few weeks and once or twice per week. It is nice place with very nice employees until today, I am not going to mention a name and I will not step in side Athena Gun Club again.

I just purchased a CZ SDP PO1 from Devin here, and I couldnt be happier. I had a ton of questions, and he was incredibly patient and knowledgeable. He even took his own time to find me a reputable place to buy factory CZ mags online. Just an incredible dude, and as long as hes here, nobody else will be getting my business.5 stars; but nothing is perfect. I would have liked to have purchased a few extra mags, but they werent in stock. Also, discount for LEO/Military/Contractor et al., would have been nice. This wasnt a cheap gun Thanks again, Devin

I took the essential gun class which was excellent. I knew nothing about guns and Jay, the instructor, was very patient and thorough in helping me feel comfortable handling the gun in my home. I would recommend this place to first time users like myself.

As an Aussie; the whole guns thing is quite foreign to us. Never fired a gun nor held one. Glad to say this place got a complete newbie from sweating holding an unloaded Glock to shooting confidently within 30min. If youve never shot and wanna learn; go here

I went with two first-time shooters. We received a friendly and supportive, yet thorough introduction in firearm safety before we got to target shoot with our chosen pieces. Highly recommended for some indoor summer fun. I only wish we had bought more target practice paper so tracking would have been easier.

I called on Nov 17 to inquire about a Sig Legion 229 RX , I spoke with one of their rep which I am not going to name at a out the door price of $1,271.93I made sure I asked him twice if the out the door price for their Legion 229 RX at $1,271.93. Guy checked it with his manager to verify.So I told him I will be there by 1 to purchase it.By time I got there, another guy informs me they priced the wrong gun for me when I called.Despite the inconvenience and misinforming me regarding the price, since I had already drove an hour away to them. I was ready to purchase anyways.So upon inspection of the gun, I noticed the factory equipped red dot is scuffed in multiple places. I then pointed out that there are scratches and I was respond with a Yea.Yea.... No thanksFolks there was unapologetic and just simply not helpful.I will support a different local vendor than these guys.

Ive been to Athena Gun Club on several occasions to practice with my weapons. The folks who work there are professional and friendly. The equipment is well maintained, safety is there #1 priority and have always felt very safe in this establishment. I usually go during the week since it is very crowded on the weekends. Highly recommended.

Ive been a member here (Executive) for about 2 months now, and have gone almost every week. Met with a smile, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful as well as insightful. Highly recommended to friends and anyone wanting a clean professional shooting experience.

I do like the range. Clean, very professional, and their teachers are great. Wide selection of firearms to rent from. I wish their rules regarding rifles and large bore handguns are more spelled out as they have a separate significantly smaller range for their use, but their policies online and in store do not tell you this in advance.The store is a different story. The selection is good, if somewhat overpriced, and I appreciate the fact that you can handle the firearms. The staff is generally knowledgeable too. However, dont even think about ordering anything through them online. Twice now, I never received an email conformation regarding the order and I had to call them just to reconfirm my billing details. The worst part though, was that from order to delivery of the firearm to the store took 10 days to two weeks. Thats just not acceptable for an in stock gun.Feel free to use the range but shop elsewhere.

Their gun range is top notch, one of the best. Their employees are very nice and attending. Their gun selection is pretty good both rentals and purchase. Not the best pricing by far but its no deal breaker. I couldnt give them all 5 stars because when it came to looking at their display pistols, there was some issues pertaining to a certain Glock.They have some old beat up guns on display and will probably not see any range activities in the future. So I saw an old Gen 3 G21 they have as a display and after I inspected it many times and dry fired it many times and even told an employee to remove the slide to get a better look at the internals which looked really good. I told their employee that the G21 is in great shape and if they could sell it to me. Their employee said nah, you dont want that junker, its too worn out. If theres one certain pistol brand I know very well both internal and external with thousands of rounds through them, its Glocks! I told him the G21 is in far better shape than all the other non Glocks pistols they have including some slightly newer Glocks as well. He said that they cant sell it because its in such bad shape they dont to be held responsible for any accidents. I told him all the G21 needs is a good cleaning and I can very easily replace any parts that need replacing but in the condition its in right now it can fire 10,000 rounds no problem. They actually told my brother when he asked to buy the G21 that too many people have handled that G21 and that its covered in bacteria and dont recommend him buying it, lol! My brother works in the O.R. in the medical center in sterilization equipment and robotics, to him it sounded like a totally made up lame excuse.The employee still said no and that Glock Inc could give them trouble if they sell that G21 to a customer. I called Glock after that and they told me what the Athena employee said was not true. If the pistol has its OEM parts and in working condition it should be able to be sold to the public and that if it isnt for sale by the store then thats an issue I would have to handle with Athena and not Glock Inc. I told them the G21 is all original parts intact, Glock told me that when someone buys a Glock its their own responsibility what they do with it not Glocks anymore, its just that Athena doesnt want to sell that pistol and theres nothing anyone can do about it.Its a shame though, that G21 is in great shape just collecting dust probably going to be thrown into the trash in the future. I asked the Athena manager why they dont want to sell me that Gen 3 G21 and he said the same about Glock probably giving them trouble selling a worn out old Glock to the public. The whole thing seems fishy to me, they rather sell me a new Gen 4 G21 but anyone who knows Glocks intimately knows that the Gen 3 Glocks have a far superior trigger and grip frame than the Gen 4. Itll be like them selling me an inferior Glock for a much higher price only because its new, thats a bad business choice for me.

I went to Athena today to shoot for the first time. I am a beginner but was pretty impressed with the facility and the procedures. Helped me to feel more comfortable. I went with a very experienced friend today, but look forward to seeing how the staff works with me next time when Im on my own!

This is the best indoor range in Houston by far. The place is clean, well organized and the staff is always courteous and knowledgeable. The gun shop is set up like a fine jewelry store and the display models are out so you can get a feel for what youre buying. They strictly enforce the rules and put safety above all else. They have a decent selection of rentals and ammo is not priced insanely high, of course its always cheaper to bring your own.

Very expensive revolvers. Unbelievable.

Its was an awesome place! The only issue was the gentleman at the register got a bit of an attitude when explaining that their ammo had to used when using a rental but the rest of the staff more than made up for his short comings.

I came with a firearms expert and family friend and I have previously only been to an outdoor range two times. The Athena Gun Club is much better. It is run by some true gun safety enthusiasts and the video monitoring proves that to me. It is very professionally operated and I appreciate that too. I will return as often as I can. Dont forget air conditioning and lighting. Very good atmosphere and supplies.

Just took a class on introduction to handguns taught by Jay. This was my first time with guns and Jay was very informative and made me feel more comfortable with guns.

Dustin was very patient and helpful!! It was 14 of us and he did a great job assisting each of us with loading and shooting the firearm.

First class all the way. Had a blast at the range, but the best part was watching our son in the simulator. Our instructor from Athena (Caleb, maybe) was outstanding. His response to our son’s performance in the simulator was incredible and was so encouraging to our son. As a kid with ADD, having an instructor comment so positively and speak so highly of his performance was priceless. He went on to tell our son that he, too, had ADD and had served two tours and was now working in the regular world in a job he loved. My son left feeling so encouraged and now condidring swat work or even forensics. Our instructor, in about an hour, accomplished so much and we are grateful. We will definitely be back.

Great place if you like getting ignored for 2 hrs. Unless your a club member no one will pay you any attention to you. I roamed the store area multiple times without a single hello or can i help you. The employees just carried on with their conversations despite multiple customers. All the employees have a bothered look on their face as their too tacticool to be asked a questions. They have a fantastic facility, clean and well maintained but you may need to make it rain as you enter for quality service.

I think Athena is the best place in this area, the facility is high quality and wide range of weapons to choose. Additionally the service is absolutely heart-felt. The staff is very nice and patient to give you a professional tutorial class.Highly recommended.

I am certainly not upper class, affluent or well dressed but I have always been treated respectfully, courteously and fairly by the staff at Athena. The range is excellent, well lit, great ventilation, good ammo prices (though I usually being my own, dont be a dummy, bring brass) and theyve got some fun targets. The people giving poor reviews seem to have had issues at multiple ranges and might do well to improve their handling or their attitudes.

First time at a gun club and was pleasantly surprised. Very nice atmosphere. Clean and beautifully decorated. Now what I was expecting at all. Staff we super helpful and knowledgeable. Made my wife and I very comfortable. Recommend it any time. Not cheap but then it s not shooting out of an old barn either.

Their online class scheduling can be improved. If you schedule online for a class and you need to postpone, its apparently a huge ordeal to change (I know this because they had to reschedule me). After that situation, I took their recommendation and decided to schedule a class over the phone and they just told me to do in online again, lol. At first, I thought my off experience here was just an unusual one time thing, but after having gone here 4-5 times already, I can say its pretty common for me.Maybe some of them are a bit cold and short because this is a gun range after all, Im sure they are trying to make sure no one is getting hurt at all times, but if youre looking for a nice facility, this is it. Just expect hit or miss customer service if thats important to you. Ill still come back to this place (until I find a better place w/ better customer service), but Im not a raving fan.**April 2020 Update**After taking a small hiatus, I got the itch to go shooting and decided to head back to Athena. Experience is pretty much consistent to my initial review. New staff members, but same customer experience--hit or miss. Some of them seem a little inexperience (maybe theyre new--some were definitely socially awkward). Was really hoping to come back and bump my review up 1 more star, but not much has changed.

Let me start off by saying that this WOULD be the best range in Houston, except one huge sign plastered out front. The 30.07 (no open carry) sign at a gun range??? Thats insane, and idiotic. Seriously guys, a piece of clothing over a holstered pistol doesnt make things safer. Thats what anti-gun people think, not what a gun range/store should think.

The entire staff was helpful and polite. This is the best place Ive ever been to shoot. The price is kind of high, but it is worth it. Ill definitely will be coming back to Athena!

Enjoyed our time here. Nice selection of firearms to bring into the range. Desk staff were funny and helpful. We are fairly knew to shooting but the staff were very knowledgeable of each weapon and guided us well towards what guns would be more interesting to us over other selections available. I believe the guy running the lanes was attempting to be funny, but came off like he was being an ass. Maybe it was a bit of both. Didnt negatively effect the day however. Would recommend for day out shooting. Very good selection for purchase also.

Went in a group with friends and family with a total of 8 of us we had 6 rifles and couple of pistols all payed and we were only able to use 2 lanes so I went and asked the guys up front if we could get another he said yes as soon as the next both is free you can. so we wait and next lane clears as soon as we get on it we are told we can’t use the next lane cause they have more customers man they lost a lot of money!! And for the guys up front that act like D bags your $12 an hour job isn’t that important get over your selfs!

Fancy gun store and range.Same price as every other range 18.00 but I will go on half price day so it makes it cost effective to go twice a month.Seems some knifes are more then online.Premium feel for premium prices.Dont think the budget conscious would buy firearms there, but the staff is nice and willing to help.

My first time to this Gun Range and Dustin was patient and awesome!!! He gave us a great experience I will be back the next time I am in Houston

I took the basic handgun class with Caleb, who was excellent. It was one-on-one and exactly what I needed to better understand the basics of handling and shooting a gun. Im also impressed with the security at the place -- constant surveillance and observation of people to make sure theyre handling their guns safely.

I am just learning how to shoot. I wanting to find a gun that fits me so I rented from Athena. Everyone was so helpful and patient with me. They took the time to walk me through each gun. The facility is very nice. It was a really good experience.

Very disappointed with their Gunsmith and work. I brought a gun in with a trigger issue. Paid money to have them fix. Within 400 rounds it failed to same condition as before. Took back in and they refused to work on gun again without charging me. I thought these guys were supposed to be top notch. Not so much. Stand by your work.

This is like a 5 star hotel lobby with a shooting range attached. Very professional. I liked the fact that you gave instruction on the rules of the range before we were able to enter, offered hearing protection for those that did not have it, and followed through immediately when someone was not compliant by watching the cameras. I did not have the time to experience all of the other amenities but I will next time.

Great staff and equipment at Athena. I was concerned about my new Glock and the gun smith helped me put hundreds of rounds through it to break it in. He then helped me figure out a problem I was having with my Baby (G34 gen 4).Their house target paper is really fun too
