It was a nice venue, but during Covid, I would have preferred the seating being a little more spaced out. We purchased the 6 top preferred seating and were were one foot away from the other 6 top. The drinks are strong, I couldnt taste anything but the vodka. But we enjoyed ourselves.

Great comedy show served in a safe Covid atmosphere. Food menu is limited to fried items, but good beer selection. They charge an automatic 18% that is pretty standard for this kind of venue, but highlight server tip and expectations are very high to add additional tip. Service is not that great!

Absolutely no social distancing. The most they did was skip tables for seating but there are people directly behind you. Coughing, laughing etc all with NO MASK!!! They werent even making people wear them. We only took ours off for eating and drinking. Definitely uncomfortable and the service and food was horrible. I ordered the date plate and it was extra done and hard. For 20$ I was expecting alot better. The show started on time. Comedians werent funny including D.L Hughley. He ran out on jokes halfway through and began talking to the audience. I couldnt wait to leave. I dont think Im going anywhere until the virus is under control. Businesses arent taking it seriously.

The place is really nice but I absolutely disliked the star comedian. I left before it was over. Its really sad when comedians think they have to load their act with vulgar profanities to make people laugh. He WAS NOT funny at all. I especially dont like comedians that try to get laughs off people in the audience. That wasnt funny either, he didnt know how to do it or when to let it go! Yuk!The headliner was much much better!

We saw JP Sears and Brent Pella here during the plandemic. I didnt have to wear a mask because I was drinking the entire time. These pictures are generated from my memory because photos are not allowed. Half of the tables and chairs had rona but they were quarantined, so it was ok. In other words, the facility was great, comics were superb, and the parking easy. They required a 2 item minimum, prices were steep, and they add 18% gratuity, automatically. Keep scheduling comics, we NEED to laugh!!!

I used to be a huge fan of the Houston Improv, having spent thousands over the years. That was until Friday night, 12/20/19. I bought 4 seats to see Corey Holcomb, plus everyones drinks and dinner, and I always tip well. Holcomb was so great that I didnt want to leave during his performance to use the restroom, so I held it in.Once the show was over, they wanted us to walk directly outside without passing the restrooms. The lobby was completely packed full of people waiting for the next show, and Im certain it violated the legal occupancy limit. So to get to the restroom, I had to fight my way through that completely packed crowd. That was an ordeal in and of itself.Once I was done in the restroom, I headed for the nearest exit door, again fighting through the crowd. The lady at the door refused to let me out! She wanted me to fight through the entire crowd to get to the other door, which was way on the other side of the lobby. Im right there at the exit door, but she wanted me to fight the packed crowd AGAIN to get out. Instead I fought the crowd to get a supervisor involved to overrule her refusal to let me out.1. I consider her actions to be unlawful detention.2. The packed lobby violated the lawful occupancy limit.3. Establishments serving food are required to have available restroom facilities. Theirs wasnt available to those exiting the early show.Im definitely planning to file a formal complaint with the City of Houston, once this pandemic gets under control. The Houston Improv should never have let the late show attendees into the lobby, long before the early show attendees had left.Ill never spend another penny at this worthless business, and Ill encourage others never to go there, either.

I am not a fan of forced gratuities. Service was mediocre but we were forced to tip 18%. I prefer to base my tipping on the quality of service. You get 4 sauces with the date plate. I kept saying, at least 4 times, i wanted honey mustard and ketchup but i still ended up with 2 ranch dressings my husband had to go to the kitchen to return and get what i asked for. I requested that the chicken wings be tossed in garlic sauce...they were not. The fries were soggy with grease and had no crunch...or salt. The chicken tenders and wings did taste fresh, but the cheese sticks tasted like they are premade frozen ones. The nachos, burgers and sliders around us did look tasty, though the sweet potato fries looked as limp as the normal ones. No matter what else you buy, they will NOT give you a glass of water, water can only be purchased. We also never got small plates for sharing our big plates, and never got any utensils to eat with. We had to just put our food on napkins and eat our food with our fingers...and my fingers got burnt on the wings.Tables are really small and cramped for more than 2 people. All that being said, as far as a venue for seeing a comedy show goes, it is small and has 3 levels (all low, no nose bleed seating here). ALL seats actually seem good to see the show.I would definitely see another show here. I probably wouldnt eat here again and because of the forced gratuity i would probaby buy the 2 cheapest things on the menu for the 2 items they force you to buy. (Bottled water $3.50, sodas and juice $4) at least i would probably be happy with the service if all I asked for was a drink!

Been here multiple times and always enjoy it. Most recently saw Ari Shaffir and he had a great set. The place is large but the tables are packed in tight. General seating is typically first come first serve so arrive early if you tend to be picky about where you sit. Otherwise most shows have preferred seating for an extra fee; those seats are up closer to the stage and very intimate with the performer. The service is about as good as you can get for the setting. It can be hard to hear the wait staff but its not their fault, they always do their best to take care of us. Bar is fully stocked with adult beverages and specialty cocktails. Shareable apps and small bites are on point with typical bar fare; there is also a few neighboring restaurants that are walking distance from the club. Plenty of parking in the large lot and there is a free parking garage too. We love going to the improv. Add yourself to their mailing list so you wont miss your favorite comedian.

Attended event last week, there was not online guidance on how COVID safety measures were being applied at 50% occupancy, so we purchased the upgrade for a 2 person table to be closer to the stage and still have social distancing. But what they did was close the 2 back sections and seat everyone in the first 2 sections of the club. No distancing of tables. They did take temps outside and recommended masks, but without requiring them shoving us all together (like preCOVID) felt unsafe when there was plenty of room to spread put. I sent an email about my concerns and never received a response. The comedians, fantastic, but I wouldnt recommend paying for anything above General Admission if you go at all. Also....the fees are really steep on top of minimum food/beverage purchases.

1/11/20 @ 9 PMDear Management,I WAS ready to purchase 12 tickets. So I drive all the way to Houston Improve to purchase tickets at the box office to omit from the $6 fee/ea when buying online ($72 total). Saturdays box office is supposed to close at 10PM! Yet I arrive to find an unattended box office with a sign stating to call the ph number for assistance. Of course this number just directs you to their website and purchase online. So I go inside and ask at the bar who just sends me to the usher. He sent my request through his headset. A few mins later he states Ill have to do it online because there is nobody that can sell me the tickets. Mind you this is before the established closing time! This was the first time I was going to attend Houston Improv Comedy Club, but I was definitely NOT impressed!

Comedians were absolutely excellent, it’s especially worth the trip if there is someone you know on stage. There is a two item minimum purchase, which only counts while you are sitting though, and you can only get water if you purchase a bottle for $4. The company doesn’t treat their patrons like they want them there.

We were here on a very busy night. The stand up comedian was fabulous and this review would be 5 stars if it were based on that solely. However, the service was horrible. We received absolutely no service whatsoever. We arrived early so that we could put in our orders and we were told “he’d be right back”. He ignored us the rest of the night on the rare occasion that he was even in the section. He seemed to be more focused on the bigger tables than anything. We watched him mess up the orders of tables around us. He never took our order. We had no drinks and no food the whole time. We decided that as the show was ending two hours later and he was passing out checks that rather than confront the issue we would just go elsewhere with better service. Their loss. The two stars go to the good environment and reasonable ticket prices. If you get a good waiter I think that it’s a great date night, but unfortunately we just didn’t get lucky.

Disappointed in the service. Went to a kids/family show and they closed off half of their seats forcing everyone to sit uncomfortably close to each other in a small space. They had sold more tickets than seats they had open. They kept adding chairs to already overcrowded tables.Their food and drinks are way over priced. $4 for a glass of lemonade, and half the glass was ice. I noticed they add a service charge to their final sales check. I paid cash and was expecting $8 in change but the waiter disappeared. Why would the waiter think he was getting an $8 tip on a $12 check. Thats just theft at that point. Phuck the improve.

The tables for bigger groups were all the way in back so we slid 2 together. The wouldnt let us do that and made us separate them and tried to send us to the back. We wanted to see so we had to separate our group into tables next to each other. They were very rude about this. Our waitress was terrible hardly checking on us. Our drinks stayed empty and we kept having to go to the bar for drinks which was outside where we couldnt see the show. They way overbooked so people had to share tables with strangers. We ordered burgers, nachos, cheese sticks, sliders, and something else. All of it was not worth the money spent. In fact any money spent on it would have been a waste. You must get two items or you are charged $4 per item. Since we dont drink alcohol we might just hydrate and eat before we go there next time and take the loss on the items. The reason I gave them 4 is not for the service but for comedy acts. I have seen some of the best comedians here. Can be budget friendly if you dine before you go. If this helps pls hit the like button . Budget Baller

This was my first time visiting. I went to see Jess Hilarious. She was extremely hilarious, but thats not what the review is about. I was not aware of how seating worked or I would have tried to pick a different area or arrived much earlier. Seating was cramped and youre seated at a table with others. We were seated with two females who were nice, but the people in another table obviously werent thrilled with sitting with each other. My husband is pretty tall, so if youre tall or of a bigger size, you may not be comfortable with the table size or space provided. The next time I go, I will opt to buy the front section or arrive extremely early to try and get a table alone. The atmosphere is nice. There is a two item minimum per person and an 18% service charge added to every check. Its $4 per item if you dont order anything, so you might as well order two soft drinks if you dont want anything, since thats the price per drink. The catfish and fried okra was $13 and the chicken fingers and fries were $11. Though a bit pricey, the catfish and okra were good and surprisingly had a fair amount of food. I will not get the chicken fingers again. They really didnt have any taste.I love the location! Its in the same strip with Dave & Busters, Edwards IMAX, and a lot of great restaurants and shops. Theres something for everybody there!
