I love this store! I went in recently to search for a map of Texas to get framed for my husbands 30th birthday. Bret quickly helped me locate a map of Galveston from the 1850s! He then helped me pick out a frame and mat to match. It turned out so great!! It is a very special piece of art that I know we will keep forever. Highly recommend this place, even if you just want a good browse!

The Antiquarium is by far and away the best place to go in Houston for antique maps and top-end custom framing. I collect very old maps and would not trust anyone else to handle or frame them for me. They use only the best, safest materials and handling practices. They can also do restoration work.Roswitha is the head curator and is quite a powerhouse of knowledge and design. Hand her any antique document and she will give you several great framing options that will leave you very satisfied and impressed. The Antiquarium is also quite accommodating and patient even with the most persnickety of customers (I am guilty of being a bit demanding). I’ve never felt anything but totally taken care of at this establishment.See below a map from 1511 that I had framed by Antiquarium at their museum level of conservation framing. Beautiful results!!

I’ve been in many antique books,prints,and maps galleries here and abroad. The Antiquarium located on West Gray in Houston is second to none in cleanliness and staff attention and knowledge. Rosewitha is sharp as can be but pronouncing her name correctly is a tricky chore.

I love this place. You get the treasure hunt experience in a place where every item is part of a treasure and youre browsing only leads to finding gems that are often of even more interest than the previous one. Bought several pieces from them and had them framed there as well. The whole experience was positive. Ill be back.

The Antiquarium remains my go to place for finding the best in rare maps and prints - and their framing services are top notch. Roswitha treats each piece with importance - offering suggestions in all price ranges. Most recently, I had her frame a piece of art my child did years ago and it sits on the wall with the same (or greater) importance to some of my rarest and most valuable pieces. I went into the Antiquarium looking for a leaving gift for a co-worker. I wasnt sure exactly what I was after, but Roswitha was incredibly helpful and informative. They had a very broad range of old prints (and some originals) in the field I was interested in, and the quality of the products and the service generally was top-rate.

My experience with the staff at The Antiquarium has been nothing short of amazing. Amy Holloway helped me frame our wedding photos and her creativity and eye for detail really made the images pop. Our framing came out truly beautiful and I couldn’t be happier with the end result. I would suggest using this company if you are looking for high quality framing and a knowledgeable staff.

Ive been coming here for years. We first bought some antique (1700s) posters, and then went back a few years later to have them frame some original Disney animated cels. Their work is always the best, and they deliver when they promise. The price may be a little high, but I think they are worth it.When we have out of town visitors, we sometimes bring them here and they almost always buy something. I can spend 30 minutes browsing in the store easily.

This is one of my favorite hidden gems of Houston. They have a unique collection of antique prints old maps and beautiful office decorations from the Golden Age. A must see for history nerds and anybody who is interested and getting in touch with the past. The staff is very knowledgeable, and you can also frame your images here.

This image is packed with neat stuff and, overhearing a conversation between the staff and someone who brought a piece in, the staff really know their stuff.Definitely on the pricy side though. I was fascinated by some 1920s seed packets and wanted to learn more about them. I went to look them up later. Found 34 vintage packets from the seed company for $32 whereas a single (nicely framed so thats part of their value) seed packet at The Antiquarium was around $110. Long story short, know the value of what youre buying since these arent one-of-a-kind paintings.

My experience at The Antiquarium was nothing short of exceptional. I have purchased both art and framing from them, and cant say anything negative about either. I brought three botanicals purchased elsewhere to The Antiquarium to be framed; Katie, the assistant gallery director, was so kind and patient with my mother and me. She must have pulled 40 different frames and mattes to ensure I found exactly what I wanted, and she never batted an eyelash. Their selection of frames is really good and they have an onsite artist who paints these beautiful lines on mattes to add even more depth and dimension to your art. While not the cheapest framer in Houston, I believe you get what you pay for and want my pieces to last a very long time...Ill be looking at them everyday, after all! If you take your pictures to Michaels, youre going to get junk back. If you support local small businesses like The Antiquarium, youre going to receive exceptional service and an exceptional product youll have for many years to come. I highly recommend The Antiquarium.
