I always wanted to go to this state park. I always heard it gets extremely crowded especially on the weekends. Wife told me take off on Friday and I did. At first glance its a beautiful view but once you look not so much. Why you ask is cause the shoreline is crowded with houses condo communities. The lake is gorgeous of course and yes we know the largest lake in the state.I was told by the ladies at the concession stand 47 miles of shorelines. That sounds fantastic for a bank angler but we know its private shoreline. Grills and green grass two playgrounds for the kids one by the beach area the other up the hill. There is a volleyball area no spiking going on here I bet. The cost to enter $6 weekdays $10 weekends carry in your goods carry out your trash. People please do your part to keep our parks clean.Lake Hopatcong State park is just a small portion of this great big lake. Enjoy the portion this is Ours preserve and protect our park.

Beautiful park, barbecue area is separated from the lake front and small kids play area.

Beautiful surroundings to enjoy a day of swimming and sunning. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily with beach open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. public restrooms open and clean. Great concession stand, great customer service from Laurie and team. Also, great place to hold a family reunion.

I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this park was. Will definitely go back. Parking was plentiful and the entire park was very clean. Be ready to bring back your trash as there are no trash cans anywhere on the park area.

Nice place with kids. Unfortunately no swimming before 10.30 am. You need to be early to get a good spot.

A great place. I have childhood memories here, and its always been nice. Seeing the lake always made me happy, and the basketball courts are awesome, too. Its also a nice place to go when it snows. Sledding is fun. The hills are nice.

A beautiful place to go with family and friends but I don’t like their so much rules and regulations every time you go there they have a new rule like you can’t take your chair to the lake while your kids swimming, and the timing is really really bad 6 which is exactly about the weather getting better on that time and they closing the park ,

Good spot to have some fun. Clean but there is no dumpster and you always have to take trash with you. Swimming is prohibited after 6 when the lifeguards leave their seats...stupid, I think

This place is great if you want to learn a little bit history of the place or just to hangout with family and friends. You can also go swimming. Its also a good place for a party or just have a little family picnic

Complete nonsense I went completly out my way to get there on 7/12/20 at 9:41 and the barrier was up and brain dead blonde who refuses to talk to anybody on a quad just shouting were closed to move our car . I just drived an hour away at a fair time to be turned away . You can atleast act human enough to give me 2 minutes to stand in the gate and reroute my GPS or give me a suggestion on where else to go . But this girl was more focused on getting me to drive away as if I was breaking a law or something .

Beautiful state park, clean, safe and well manicured. Police are present. Beautiful beach, swing set and playground for the kids, and picnic tables with barbecue pits. There are signs there to remind you to take your garbage with you when you leave. So if you liked my review and devide to go there bring a garbage bag and keep the place clean so the park stays nice. Enjoy.

Great place to go for a somewhat short hike, too sit by the lake or just spend the day with the family. Theres a beach- like sandy area, plenty of space for barbeques and lots of green.

The park is beautiful, a great place for a walk/jog. Thier are multiple picnic tables around the park where you can grill some hotdogs and burgers. Sadly the last time I visited the water was was closed due to algae.

First time to come here and was not a good experience. The attendant was not accommodating at all. We were still in the car she shouted at us already that the park is closed and that we cannot stop at the entrance. So, we directed the driver to keep on until to the next corner. We walked back to the entrance as we did not understand what she meant by “the park is closed” when there are people inside the park. We were still a couple yards away she was walking towards us already and shouting that the park is closed. We asked her why? She said that the park is so full. We understood it. Isn’t it just proper that they update their site if they are taking people in or not on certain times so that people who came from far places won’t waste their effort, time and money just to get there. We asked her instead if she can suggest of any other place nearby to visit since we were already there and we’ve traveled an hour just to get there. What she did is motioned with her hands that we should just leave. So, we asked her again if we can just wait for our car to come and pick us up but she said “NO”, you should just leave”. So, we started walking towards the other side but she tried to push my friend because she said we can’t walk on that part. What the heck?! So, where should we go?! If we can’t wait at the entrance and we can’t walk on the side of the road where should we go?! To the management, please try to put capable people in the frontline not the hard and harsh inconsiderate ones. Thank you!

This is a nice lake and park. I took my kayak on the lake today. The lake and surrounding homes were very scenic. Some of the remaining Morris Canal bldgs were also interesting

Currently there is no swimming allowed in the lake due to an algae bloom that could last all summer. Picnicking with tables and grills. Dogs allowed on a leash. Entrance fee.

Very clean park, entry fee I dont know if its standard for all vehicles but $10 to get in and they provide garbage bags so you can take your garbage with you.The lake is over all nice I would say its incline towards kids since its not that deep, life guard present while open, pass the swimming area you are able to ride boats and jetski. Very pleasant location over all and have complementary hammocks to lay on instead on the grass.

Rude park attendants!We were trying to check out the park today. But was kicked out! According to them the park is full & not letting anymore people to get in. So we tried to asked them if there’s any way we can get to close by place to stay for a little bit, while waiting for our service car. But the attendants were so rude & not accommodating.We will not gonna come to this park ever again.What a waste of time.

This one is a little hard to give a rate of starts for the reason that have it good thing and bad thing. Is a beautiful park lake, if you are planing to do a BBQ with a family and celebrate in open view a birthday were kids can play in a playground or swim in the lake, well this is a good place were you can start a new Adventure with them if you haven been in a place like that. It have it oun bathroom were there are changes studios. Bad thing in my oun opinion, Im not a type of person who like to swim on a lake, Im more in beach. But in deed it is a beautiful place were you can relax and have a good time with friends and family. If you dont live in the area the cost is $10 the entress, Mmm..good place to do a great BBQ and beatiful view as well...not to bad I can said.

It was really nice. Lots of green space. There is a small kids park. The parking is $20 out of state and NJ plates is $10. On a Saturday it was a little crowded!

I went to this park on and off for years. I grow up at Lake Hopatcong, I stop going for years because of Pollution and lake weed. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean the park grounds were and how clear the water was. I plan on buying a year passed this year.
