Pool, gym, yoga...great!

The best choice for fitness/rec. Great facilities, nice staff, nice people as members. Half the price of commercial gyms that have anything close to the breadth of facilities. One of my favorite parts of living in Hoover !

I vote here only. A little too pricey for just me and I don’t know how to swim

Its a good place to exercise. Good variety of equipment. Theres a pool, and basketball court. Its clean and everyone is friendly. Price for membership is reasonable.

The pool does not accommodate competitive swimmers very well. When long time members ask to use equipment their requests are denied for no other reason than “other pools in the state don’t use that equipment during lap swimming time. That equipment is only used for competition.” Pool management is terrible!

I asked a young man at the front desk about my renewal options, he made me feel like I was bothering him or he thought I was stupid. I was simply needing some basic information. I was upset about the service but thought maybe I was just having a bad day and it was just me. I didn’t say anything to anyone, but another family member went in a few days later and had a similar experience trying to renew. Most people there seem nice, but when there are so many options why put up with that BS.

Always clean, always safe, has all the proper resources that you need for a well rounded work out.

Best bang for your fitness buck in the city. Track, pool, clean locker rooms, a bunch of free weights and machines plus classes and child care.

The facility is great and the price cant be beat. B

The Hoover Rec is a great value for Hoover residents. Its got anything someone wanting to get in shape would need, including free weights, a swimming pool, basketball courts, and numerous fitness classes. In addition, the staff is always helpful and polite.

A really well staffed and equipped ac building to exercise in and take many classes and programs.

A great place for the whole family or at least I thought it was. My wife and 7 yr old son were in last Saturday and a man yelled at her in front of my son and made my wife distraught and son scared. I spoke with a man named Bill Wilder and he said that there is nothing he could do about it. Husbands and fathers worst nightmare is not being able to provide protection for there family. I thought a family environment at the Hoover rec they should have no worries. I think the rec has many many great aspects but safety for may not be at the top of the list. We really liked it there.

The Rec Center management appears to have responded to those who want early morning weekday workouts: the Rec Center currently opens at 5 a.m. Monday - Friday, later on the weekends. Obviously if no patrons show up that early, they will eventually adjust the hours of operation. As another reviewer mentioned, you can always check their web site or give them a call to verify current hours. The hours that pop up in the Google box may not always be accurate. Good luck!
