What a difference a year makes. Last year the course was in immaculate shape, now its pretty much garbage. The greens were half grass and half dirt and the tee boxes were full of weeds. Mustve been the switch from private to public, not sure but its a shame. Definitely will not be going back, especially when a $65 green is a special deal. Dont waste your time or money!

Just played it yesterday. Im not a fan. Greens were shaggy and very slow. Probably an 8 or 9 on the Stimp. Lots of diseased areas on some greens. Some of the fairways were very hard and a little chip shot would bounce the club off the turf with no divot. The bunkers did have nice sand though. Practice t area was nasty. The course needs some work. Lastly, too many holes had no space from greens to fairway. Had to duck a few times while putting on an adjacent green.

Beautiful course, well kept up. Had a great time playing with some of my friends here a few weeks back. I think its one of the better tracks in the area. Greens were in good condition

I have played here for many years in various tournaments. At that time, the conditions were superb. I was severely disappointed in the condition of the greens, appears some kind of fungus has gotten to them. The tees in general were in rough shape, most specifically #14. Somany old divots and weeds. The fairways typically were in great shape. It’s a great layout that demands some good planning and ball striking. After working so hard to get the ball within 15’ of the hole for birdie to basically have to get a lucky bounce or deflection to have a chance to make it really was disheartening. I would love to come back but would have to know the conditions are better. That will take time and money investment- maybe that is not what the plan is.

Get Your rounds in before they tear it up next year... Its a great course but unfortunately their closing their doors after this year. I hear its gonna be turned into a trucking depot or something. Therefore the maintenance of the greens has been piss poor. Still is a great lay out but cost way too much for what they provide. Other courses nearby such as Coyote Run is so much better and cost way less. But if your playing there in an outing or just to experience it before they close, its decent. Look out for hole #9 its had the worst green. Stay to right and short.

Just played today and unfortunately the greens are completely browned out and hard as a rock. I think this would be a great course for those who only hit the ball a max of 200-220 yards. There are too many doglegs and way too many holes where 250-270 striping the fairway and you are in trouble. I dont mind some target golf but this was too much..But it is beautiful there and if you are a short hitter it really would be a great course if the greens werent torched. It did remind me of the Blues brothers though so I had that going for me.It was a beautiful day for golf so it didnt stop me from enjoying the day. Far and sure!

Recent reviews made me hesitant, but played at 7:30 this past Sunday and course was great especially at the price point for that time/day(I think it was sub-$60 to walk on a Sun AM). We saw them rolling greens as we pulled in and they putted great. Few spots here and there where it’s clear early season excessive rain killed some grass, but it was really minimal and the pins were in the good spots. Whole group thought they played great. On the tees it seems like maybe early season rain washed out their crab-grass inhibitor, but they were ok and fairways and greens made up for it. Course seemed to handle last week and Saturday’s rain ok too.Lastly, appreciated all the workers had their masks on, the outdoor beer set up and pricing was good, and the post-round burgers that Diane grilled up for us were honestly awesome!Rounds and support might help keep the place from being devolved and maybe even convince Claude down at Rav to buy this place too. It’s a fun round and an easy walk in a City that needs more courses like it. Check it out!

Love the course and hope they get enough traffic to stay open but not sure whats going on w the greens. They seem to be losing the greens, many are crusty and burned out. Whats going on w that?

Great course - tees, bunkers and greens not in the best of shape. Still worth a round if youve never played before.

This place is done. Its so sad considering I caddied here for 15 yrs and played it so much but the course is beat down and dead. Greens are gone and the tee boxes are destroyed. If this isnt the last year of this place ill be shocked but they have lost this course its so sad to.see.

Calumet CC is a Donald Ross gem in Chicagos south suburbs. 6,500 yds is not long by modern standards, but wonderful topography on the outward nine, tree-lined fairways and unreasonably high AND thick rough in the wake of heavy rains made Calumet a challenge for competitive golfers and infuriating to recreational players the breezy day we played.Fret not, purists; Ross design elements abound. Going long can mean disaster and a few greens are falsely-fronted, so dont try rolling an approach up to the hole. The five-pars are all reachable save one, the diabolically serpentine 15th. Avoid the bunkers (I did not) which guard the left side of the fairway and play your second far enough left (I did not) to afford a better look at the green.Too far left and you risk going into a hayfield which looks like it may have been the practice range once upon a time but now could host a hungry herd.Calumet CC is a classic old track in good nick. Go play it.

Nice old course, however, make sure you have a shirt with a collar or you will be buying one to golf. No starter. No ranger. No beverage cart. Rude staff. $60 course trying to be a $120 course. Would rather go to Cantigny, for a much better experience. Will not be back.

I will never golf here. I showed up at the course after booking on line. There were three cars in the parking lot and I only saw two employees and no golfers. I had driven for 35 minutes to get there. The employee in the pro shop told me that I could not play because I was wearing jeans. I informed him that I specifically looked on the website for a dress code and there were no restrictions listed. He said he knew that was true but it made no difference. They offered no contingency plan. There are so many good courses that are more reasonably priced and with helpful employees. I will not return and Ill spread the word that this course is not golfer friendly.

Will never golf there again. I recommend you find somewhere else to golf as well. Clubhouse tries to force you to buy expensive collared shirt if your shirt doesnt have a collar. Newsflash: They make collarless golf shirts now! This is not 1919! How about using some good customer service skills and saying, We require collared shirts, but since youre here, well let you play this time. Plenty of better courses around. Try Harborside or Cantigny.

Great old layout which Im sure in its day was a great place to play golf. Ill give therm a pass on some of the conditions because of the rainy weather we have been having. The rough was crazy high due to being wet and not being able to mow. The tees and greens were in bad condition with some of the greens looking ready to die they were so thin.I know they are in a transition of some sort since they are bote allowing public golf but if youre going to charge full price at least maintain areas you have access to . Parts of course too wet to maintain. Was surprised they were letting carts out since it was so soft hopefully the damage the carts created heals sooner than later. Great potential but dont charge full price when your product isnt up to par.

If youve ever played Donald Ross courses that he designed then you will want to play this one a little tough some long par-4s and a couple of nice part fives it is a private golf course however they do have some type of one-day membership so there is and availability for the public to play Under certain conditions and days not sure when theyre going to change that but for those wishing to play this get in on the action through GolfNow.
