Amazing selection of fish, plants and products! I love going here even just to look around. The fish are so beautiful and large and healthy. The aquariums used to even just showcase plants are amazing and the architecture of a lot of them is fascinating. If I got an Uber to take me anywhere, I’d go here. I could spend all day at this store. If you have any size aquarium, even just to get a betta fish, you need to go here. I do wish their prices were listed on the website though but at least they list their fish and plants.

So much fun things for kids to look at! Everything is very clean and customer service is always friendly. They have a huge variety of fish all sizes. From beginner to expert. Lots of small reptiles and tarantulas also.

Tropical fish all died in a week.I bought a silver arrowana and some rams. After a week, they all had died.Ive been in the hobby for 30 plus years and my father used to own a tropical fish store.The fish here are not healthy. Im out $100. Ill go back but will not buy fish again.

I have been going here for years. Unfortunately I will not be returning after my last experience. The employees would rather chit chat than help customers. I asked for help and I was ignored. And then given an attitude. Totally incredible. Management needs to work on the customer service. Because it is at an all time low. I was there to spend hundreds of dollars, not just to look. The customer service here in the fish section was very disappointing. During our first trip, we went to buy a new tank. The store associates refused to help us, even when we asked for assistance. We asked the girl behind the desk and she looked my dad up and down and just turned around and started talking to a friend. We walked out, and they lost a $500 sale because we went to Pet Smart instead. We gave them another chance when we went for fish the next day. The young man who that helped us was very clearly irritated with our questions. He was also very condescending and rude. I apologized and thanked him. He did not respond. When he finished helping us, he beelined to another associate (the same girl who ignored us the day before) and started blatantly talking about us. For them to treat my dad like this on fathers day was very wrong. We were nice, we didnt say anything mean. I work in retail and worked at mcdonalds for 3 years and understand the day to day can he tough. But it was just unacceptable the way we were treated. I am not one to give bad reviews, never have been never will be. If you look at my google reviews youll notice almost all of them are great reviews. Even on places that were just average I typically give 5 stars. But the way we were treated was so blatantly rude that I cant. I would not recommend this store to anyone.. The only bright side was the cashier in front was helpful and polite.I dont know if its because of our race or because they were just being rude but we felt very racially profiled and very disappointed.After years of shopping here we wont be returning.

The prices here are so high they are boarderline insulting. Almost doubled from other shops and the internet.Not a single employee approached me to see if I needed assistance. All employees were too busy having conversations with each other and would not be bothered to help.1 star would not recommend.

Ridicules policy. The fish died within 48hrs. I called and informed. I told i want to get replacement, but manager tokd they dont have it in stock. Now the store manager is saying i have to bring dead fish within the 7 days get store credit and again come after 2-3 weeks and get new fish when they have in stock. Its 1hr drive one way. I requested him if i can come after 2 weeks ( anyway fish body is in freezer). But he said not possible. Its it ridicules. As if someone will lie just for $4 fish.

We have been shopping at this pet slash aquarium store since it first opened. They do have a great selection of salt water animals for the beginner reef tank enthusiast. I dont do fresh water tanks but the selection for that is huge as well. Its really a fun place to take the kids, you could spend hours there between the two sides. I personally have a problem with all the puppies as there are so many shelter dogs that need homes.We got all the supplies to make a sweet hermit crab tank with a few crabs that we bought from there.

The employee just ignore you when you ask them for help and they wont let you buy the fish that you wanted to buy they just leave and doesnt care. Thats why Im giving them 1 star because of the employee bad attitude and poor service.

I have been to a lot of fish stores. This one is the best Ive ever been to. There are so many fish here and so many display tanks. Plenty of options for hardscape. They also have so many plants. It is my favorite store in the Chicago area. I will definitely come back and buy more plants and check out their fish. If you can make it to the store I would check it out.

This place has awesome displays and a huge selection compared to other nearby stores, but you pay a BIG premium to shop here. Prices are 3-4 times more than Petco/Petsmart. Some of the staff is friendly and some are not. I haven’t encountered any who seem especially knowledgable.

They don’t honor their own prices. Picked a driftwood with a price tag of $12, and they started arguing that it was wrong and they tried to charge me close to $60. The worst part was that the manager said it was my fault that the tag said $12.They have a large variety of fish, I will give them that. But when you get one, you better hope it survives. Most of their fish die on the second, or third, day, and then you can’t rerun them. I had one fish die on my while I was still shopping at their store. Good thing I checked on them before reaching the register. And the prices are outrageous.

I honestly dont know what others are talking about staff being rude or inattentive. I have gone quite a few times to pick up fish, snails, shrimp, aquascaping materials and every time the staff that helped us was super chatty and nice. Asking about my tank, giving suggestions, and telling me about their tanks at home. Yes fish here are going to be slightly more expensive than Petsmart but the quality and selection are unmatched. To all the Karens out there, you only get the respect that you give. I really cannot believe that someone nicely went up to an employee and asked for help only to be ignored. They are always attentive to me, but who knows? Maybe its because I treat them like people.

I come to this place all the time with my wife. We love seeing all the dogs, cats, fish, spiders and every other animal they have. They have a huge variety. I recently bought a baby bearded dragon. He is very healthy. Has all his toes and his tail wasnt bit either. Aquarium Adventure also has Dubai Roaches which are perfect for the dragons and arent as easily able to find. Places like Petco that weve checked didnt have them. If I ever would consider buying another animal Id consider this place first. The staff is also pretty knowledgable of the animals they have.

48hrs fish guarantee...been having fish for 10yrs salt and fresh, Tried 3 times here for freshwater fish, every time the fish I get from here 80% if not 100% die inexplicably. They have a great selection here, and a wonderful pet store, just don’t know how or why the fish won’t stay alive from that store...? Any other store my fish all stay alive. Just my honest feedback.

I went to buy water and it can full of rocks even though before I came I cleaned all the buckets out and they where claming I lied for free water

Bought a Asian forest scorpion sold as a emperor scorpion. I’ve looked it up online from other stores and there’s a price difference. So I payed or something that I didn’t get. Should’ve informed myself a bit more but they should be able to tell it wasn’t. It died a few weeks later.

Best aquarium store around

Very helpful, well informed staff. Bought four fish a few days ago, all are doing well, and I got them for a great deal too (currently 35% off all fish). They stopped me from making a potentially deadly mistake in my community tank, and I’m very grateful for that. Sadly it’s kind of far from me so I can’t go there too often, but it’s definitely my favorite aquarium store in the area.

All of these fish are either sick, or dead. I am disgusted at the lack of care this place has for these fish. It is truly sad to come to these places and see these beautiful creatures who were either plucked from their natural habitat, or were born into this environment are not treated well. All lives are precious, but not here I suppose. Also, the dogs they have here were closed in a small cage, desperate to be played with, or even just pet for a minute. Instead, however, they lie in their own feces, looking like the dogs in those ASPCA commercials. I walked into this store open minded, and left depressed.

Ever since I got into the fishkeeping hobby 3 years ago, Aquarium Adventure has been my go-to stop for everything fish, reptile and amphibian. With friendly staff, a vast selection of just about everythinh fish (both freshwater and marine), coral, turtles, tarantulas, snakes, you name it, Aquarium Adventure has it. The prices are fair for the quality this place privides. Up until today, Ive only ever had freshwater tanks, and Im quite experienced at them. However, recently I was sort of forced into being given a marine fish - the day before I left for Portland. I threw the poor dude in a 5 gallon I had just around, got a filter with same day shipping, and put in the filter, heater, salt and bacteria that was given to me. I knew this was not enough and worried about my new tank all week in Portland. The day after I got back, I came straight to Aquarium Adventure with a 100$ gift card and no idea what I was looking for. I was approached by John (GIVE THIS MAN A RAISE) who was incredibly friendly and informative about marine tanks. John showed me what Im been doing wrong (a considerable amount) and what I have to fix to get right. Spencer also helped me make decisions based on my budget which was super helpful (thanks guys!) When I get some more money Im coming back to get some more for this tank. Thanks so much for all you do here guys. Keep it up! If youre not sure about something, ASK! Your pets health matters to them and they will make sure they live a great life!

I just bought a tiny axolotl from the Hoffman Estates location. These babies were way too small to be sold. I rescued her because she had no arms and only one leg and was lying at the bottom of the tank. Anyone that has axolotls, knows that when they are this young they cannot be housed together because they bite at anything they see... causing basically cannibalism. They are just going on instinct. A baby axolotl needs to be at least 3 months old to sell. These babies are way younger than that. Anyway I know this because I have raised 6 axolotls... now this baby is sick and about to die. I’ve done everything I can for her but idk what else to do. I’m heartbroken. DO NOT BUY AXOLOTLS FROM THIS PLACE!! They are not ready to be housed by the public.... shame on you Aquarium Adventure... shame on you.

Sad to see saltwater fish starving to death inside tanks in a fish store. Especially the wild caught fish like the yellow tangs that readily eat easy foods like nori algae.

One of the largest selections around for most of your aquarium needs plus a number of massive display tanks. I normally like to check the aquatic plant selection and am rarely disappointed.

Leland is an extremely rude and unprofessional Acting manager refused to sell a fish cause apparently he is more knowledgeable then everyone in the fish hobby. Ive been I. the hobby for over 12yrs and never had any issues with any of my tanks. they have a fish in a roughly 30 gallon tank and says my 90 gallon is too small for that fish. Do not shop here unless you are willing to be treated like you dont know what you are talking about

I must say I love this store dearly and the staff are so incredibly helpful, patient, personable and knowledgeable but the last two batches of fish, (spaced out at least a month and a half if not two from each other) have introduced sickness and now even parasites to my tank. I now have anchor worms in my tank and I fear I will lose all my fish because of the harsh chemicals Ive so far researched needing to use to rid the tank of the infestation and also not to mention that I will have to physically remove the worms myself. Now once again, I have nothing bad to say about this location/business but I can say that it seems like you might be a bit under staffed lately and being in the retail industry myself I understand wholeheartedly but to all new comers or little under a year old hobbyists like myself I cant stress the importance of quarantining before introducing new fish to your tank. Ive got to set up five different hospital tanks now and figure out how to rid my existing tank of the infestation now and it is ultimately my fault because this should be the practice of any dedicated fish owner but we all know the excitement of a new fish. I also have two fry that I have been unable to retrieve in my tank still...Goodness. But my first experience of returning once I had my first batch of very ill fish the staff was incredibly helpful. I had a girl who, although she didnt know the answer to my question, was able to get the answer from her manager (I believe) while the store was incredibly busy. The fish suffering the same same ailment in their tanks were ensured to me that they would be promptly removed and treated correctly. A+ on customer service/assistance and a shout out to all of you hard workers there! Just leaving this comment to stress how important it is to not introduce your fish too early and its a rule Ive overlooked myself four times now, only twice have ended badly for me. This is something that is not the fault of the aquarium store as they have so many little ones to keep track of and so many new shipments weekly if not biweekly, this is on the owner/purchaser of the fish. Were responsible for these little guys and all life is to be treasured :)

Leeland is the man to see about all things fish and reptiles. An absolute expert in his field. Very thankful he works here. I have a peaceful and lively aquarium because we followed his advice.

By far one of the best fish stores I have ever gone to. A MASSIVE collection of different freshwater and saltwater fish. I happened to go there during one of their sales, and even with all the workers being very busy, I had quite a few of them still check on me amidst helping someone else.

Like most pet store this one is unic in it own way they have salt water fish including corals snails crabs and more, also fresh water fish including dwarf shrimp, reptiles, dogs, cats and birds you make your choice on what you like. Well if not sure and have questions about product or how to take care of fish or corals, just call them and they will help you out.

I love going to this store for my aquarium needs. But what bothers me is that employees will walk past you chatting and laughing together and not ask you if you need anything . We watched some yesterday and I had to confront a young man and ask him would he please help us because hed walked past us three times and wouldnt speak or make eye contact as we stood in front of a tank waiting. It was over half an hour of being ignored before my frustration came out. I work with the public and know that speaking, eye contact and offering assistance is a top priority in making your customers feel appreciated.

HORRIBLE customer service I was treated like garbage and like helping me out with what I needed to find was a huge ordeal! Staff was unfriendly and had 0 knowledge. I had to find it myself. Customer service desk was rude and to busy to help mind you maybe a total of 10 people were in the store . Tanks and store are far from clean and hygiene of store is poor . In my opinion the coral selection is a bit slim and on the pricey side, the staff seems more interested in making a sale then educating customers but this is a business not an education center

Very rude staff including the manager. Advised that one of his staff members was very rude and disrespectful in the manner he spoke to us in, and when the manager was made aware he said theres nothing he could do about it because they were not staffed accordingly. Id give them a negative 5 if possible manager was not professional and also covered up for his employee who was rude.

Friendly staff big selection

Will not come back. Bought 10 fish, one didnt make it the first night. Brought it back to get a new one along with the water sample. Said my nitrates are off the charts. I increase the frequency in which I do a water change and bought my own test strips. Ive been changing the water more than once a week for 4 weeks, tested it, it tested fine. All the other fish are still alive. Bring a water sample again to get my fish replaced, they again say the nitrates are off the charts and anything in that tank will instantly die. As I said, I tested it myself to know when it would be OK to introduce more fish since I really care about animals and dont want to ever harm any. All the colors on the test strip were in the acceptable ranges when compared to the information on the test kit. They still tried to tell me it was extremely unsafe. Either they are lying to me or are completely incompetent, so I am taking my business elsewhere

I was looking for African Cichlids and stopped at this store. Many of the larger cichlids were in poor shape, diseased, dark-colored, wasting away. Poor fish! I hope someone at the store will care enough to treat these fish and relieve their suffering.

Staff is hit or miss too be honest. They keep their tanks clean from what I have noticed and most times the fish look healthy. With that many tanks and fish, ick and other diseases are normal. The staff is most knowledgeable and helpful.

Selection here is fantastic...they have almost everything. Cost is a bit high though. Fish cost is average but supplies and especially table are a bit high.

By far the best freshwater selection I have seen. They have all you aquarium needs. Who ever is running this place must be an aquarium guru. I felt like I was in a mico Shedd Aquarium. I was there Saturday 07/13 and was helped by a young man, my receipt say name is Ismael. This person was very helpful and very forthcoming with knowledge in a very kind way. Fish are a bit pricey if you dont join fish club. But fish look really heathy. Even though is a 45 min to an hour drive for me, I will be back. So Im in the club.

BUYER BEWARE!Ive been loyal customer for 11 years. I purchased my 110 gallon setup from here along with numerous fish and supplies...I just purchased filter for 300$ to find out that Petco and petsmart have it for 50$ less in store.Talked to someone over the phone and they do not price match. He said the big-box stores will have better deals than us.I thought I was doing the right thing by shopping and supporting local business, but they leave me no choice but to shop around online or at Petco and petsmart. Even tho Ive spent thousands of dollars with them(which they can verify with their membership bologna they always try and sell you)it doesnt matter to them.
