5 mile green trail completed what a trail. In the beginning of the trail it’s all sand for a long time, then it turns into a bike lane and hiking lane when u make a left heading back towards the parking lot DO NOT MAKE THAT RIGHT AND FOLLOW THE GREEN SIGN. Keep straight for 3 to 4 mins and make that right over a boardwalk to cross the lake. Then keep going straight and stay towards the right. It will get u back on green trail and your finished walk to parking lot. Lots of plants and flowers and birds I’m happy Lots more trails to go.

Yes, it is worth it!A very large state park. It has lots of bike trails and walking trails and there is also a camp site with everything you need. We went to the hiking trails and it was amazing. Like a place out of a movie. There is a small Entry fee and they accept credit cards, it’s still well worth visiting. We also stopped at the look out tower for some great view of the park with very helpful and informative signs.

A very nice quiet setting. Right now at 50percent capacity as are other businesses. Compliance observed. Does have some laundry units at the bath houses. Bath areas very clean. They have on-foot, skating, bicycling, amd horseback riding. They have bike, canoe, kayak, and boat rentals. Many areas with picnic tables and benches. Some shaded gazebo areas too.Definitely a fun time and a plus being so close to home.

This is a GRRAT place to visit. Very clean facilities. The campground offers large well maintained sites with full hook-ups. It has been designed to give each site spectacular views while offering a bit of privacy thanks to the placement of native plants. There are a few scattered trees but overall there isnt much in the way of shade. The staff at the Park Rangers office is friendly and helpful. I highly recommend that you visit and enjoy nature in a quiet peaceful atmosphere.

Great place to just sit and watch the boats dock. The kids went on a canoe trip by the time they made it to Jonathan Dickinson - they were too tired to paddle back. We drove over and picked them up. It had been a while since we had been to Jonathan Dickinson State Park. They have a nice parking area where you can park a car and load your boat into the river. It has a scenic boardwalk. One of our group was casting for fish while the others were car pooling. Noticed they even have little apartments available to rent for those who dont like sleeping in a tent.

This review is far more for the website booking experience than the park itself. Fairly frustrating to say the least, to not be able to book a campsite at the main gate of the park- has to be done online! And it doesn’t end there: forget a spur of the moment, hey it’s a nice cool night here in Florida let’s go car camp tonight! Nope, reservations have to be made prior to 1 PM. It’s not like it’s an exclusive restaurant, it’s a open bare square of land in a state park. But I feel that this is an asinine system for a park. They can’t even tell you if they have available sites at the main gate. I’d bet you could walk into the Breakers and request a room at the front desk, and if they have one available (which I’m POSITIVE they’d be able to ascertain in person) you could stay there, no online reservation needed.

Booked a site for tent camping in the Pine Grove camp area. This area is designed for RV camping although it is not stated. The park rangers informed me that my tent had to be placed on the gravel parking pad although there was soft grasses adjacent. If you are tent camping try the River area.

Great park! We camp there and love that there is plenty to do. Mountain bike trails have been shut down due to rain ( for many weeks or months) but not sure why they do not just shut down the two flooded trails? Kayaking is very convenient with launching available on the west end of park. Wish they would consider planting trees in the campgrounds because there is No shade and your RV will bake in the summer sun.

What a wonderful place. One of the best state parks in southern Florida. The trails are extensive (I did the entire white trail, which is longer than the green trail). The mountain bike trails are always busy (because they are really good!). I didn’t have a mountain bike, but I could use my hybrid on the paved paths throughout the park as well as the roads, so that worked out too! Hobe mountain is here, which is a great way to start the day before it gets hot. Renting kayaks down by the river is so easy and the prices are very reasonable. If you go during the week, it’s not busy at all. They even sell craft beer by the river! Who does that?! What a great surprise that was after a full day of hiking! On my second trip, I rented a kayak and went all the way up to the end of the river trail, the entire river was peaceful, with a few people fishing, kayaking, and a pontoon boat or two taking people to the Trapper Nelson’s historical place at the end of the trail. I honestly can’t recommend a better outdoor place to go if you’re in the area.

Awesome is one word to define this park in short, there are ample amounts of activities one can do, biking, kayaking, camping, all at one place. One time charge of $6 for entry and if you want to rent kayaks then $30 for two people kayaks and all day you can be in kayak. Just returned them before 5 pm. If you really want to enjoy the whole of park then be there early in the morning or stay one night and observe the galaxies.

Not only did we have fun but each of us learned so very much. We went up to use the dump station. The ranger on duty was pleasant and helpful. The dump station was disappointing. The level of waste water in the pipe was 2 feet down from the opening . If you opened the valve at a flow rate above a trickle the pipe overflowed. It took 3 to 5 times longer than it normally does. The water hose was not long enough to clean out my sewer hose. On a positive note, it was easy to find and easy to use

Review №56

This RV campground is s big, hot boring parking lot. Ive camped at approximately 20 Florida State Parks so far, and this is the strangest one. The facilities are clean and well-maintained, but there is really nothing to do at the RV sites area. When I checked in, the ranger said the river campground, which is mainly for tenters, is five miles away, and you have to drive there, so the RV lot is just a hot parking lot off the highway with no trees, with nothing to do except sit in your air conditioned RV. This is prime summer time as I write this, and I had a hard time getting reservations for other Florida state parks, but this one is only about 25% occupied -- that tells you this is not a popular park. There are supposed to be lots of trails, but I could not find a single sign indicating trail head after walking all around the RV area. I think they are all located five miles away at the river campground, where you have to drive and park your vehicle there. The park is surrounded by low shrubs without trails. The people who are raving that there is so much do do are certainly NOT doing those things near the RV campground. I paid for two nights here, but Im thinking of leaving and losing the money for the second day, unless I just want to drive to the nearby mall and spend the day there. This is a place to stop for the night as you drive to a nicer location, or if you need to park the RV with hook-ups to visit family in the area, or if you have business in the area.
