A perfect, canine-friendly park by the water. The tall front fence is designed with a switchback so you can guide a dog through but it wouldnt be as easy for a dog to get out on their own. Recommend leashes the first time, then use your best judgment as you get used to the parks layout. The park itself is leash-optional. While we were there, everyones dogs were super well behaved. Looks like the humans are all good about cleaning up after their buddies, too. The park itself provides open fields, tree-shaded trails and - of course - waterside rocky beaches. Parking was a little tight but there seemed to always be a handful of spots available, when we arrived and as we left. The lot is a bit rough to get to right off the main road, and theres a divider so you can only access it from the bay side of the street; Recommend signaling and slowing early so anyone behind you knows whats up.

Beautiful park. Nice area with beach access. However today my 4 month old puppy was bitten in the face by another dog. Shes 7lbs. and this was a full grown husky. I think people need to be more mindful of dogs they allow off leash. Majority of dogs are very friendly. Sad I cant take her there anymore.

Been going to this park for 15+ years. It is a nice to let your dog off the leash and let them run. 98 percent of dog owners are great and friendly and responsible when it comes to picking up after their dog.The gate at the front of the park is not closed, but it is built in a way that - at least for me - was confusing enough for my dogs that they never tried to get away.

The signs were very clear that the dogs should be on leash. But most of the visitors with dogs had them off leash. All the dogs were running around with their owners far away from them.If it is a dog-park, DCR should remove the signs all over the park that say dogs should be on leash. If it is not, proper enforcement should be in place with the appropriate action taken.Go to the park if you want these dogs to bounce on you with no notice.

One of our favorite places to off leash our dogs and get a walk in ourselves. Friendly folks and plenty of ocean. Woods and running space. Just make sure to have control of your dog/good recall. They definitely could get lost, or free onto Route 3a - there is an open front through which they can escape. We make sure to have them on leash near the parking lot

One of the few places you can let the dogs be dogs off leash. Have had a few negative experiences but overall the place is great. The only negative comments here are from people unaware that locals use it as an off leash park. But that fact is nothing new, and has only gotten more consistent since bear cove stopped allowing it.

Our 1st time with J**, she had fun once she realized that water was cool, we had to put her in! We will be back. Only 3 stars b/c of the open style gate at the entrance....How can we get someone to put in a double entry chain link or at least not an open gateway, thats ridiculous, my pup wont be off leash till then.

Great place for dogs. My issue is with the owners. I mean, just pick up after your dog. If people actually listened to the signs about doing that, the place would be perfect. Nice combo of flat lands, hills and water. So theres a variety for almost any kind of dog. You just cant run with your dog in the grass. Well technically you can if you dont care about stepping in random dog poop. Other than that, the places is fantastic.

Great place for dogs, great dog people, my first visit with my 5 month old puppy and everyone was fantastic. Once you get in the gate, you can let your dog go. Mine was nervous, as was I, but you naturally meet up with other dogs and people and you are welcomed into the pack. Just walk with a group and your dog will learn to stay with the group.

This is an excellent place to bring your dog for a walk! Although its not officially a dog park, almost everyone here brings their dog. It offers fairly good entry/exit security so those who feel comfortable letting their pup off leash can do so without too much worry of their dog escaping on to the busy street. There is a dog water fountain as well as several recepticles to toss your poo bags. There are also several picknik tables & benches to rest! The people who come here are pretty friendly but I wouldnt recommend coming here if your dog does not get along well with others as most other dogs are off leash and may approach yours without warning.

Beautiful park but overrun by dogs. If you go to the park expecting to do anything other than let your dog run leash free you are in the wrong place. Despite all of the signs stating quite blatantly that leashes are required, every dog runs free. One dog owner actually yelled at me to go somewhere else as I was doing yoga in the grass. Bizarre. Nothing anywhere states that it is a dog only or leash free park.

Awesome dog park! Not just a small sad patchy of dirt like most dog parks. My dog can be a runner, so this park was a perfect place to work on staying close leash-free without the worry that he could go anywhere (as it is a peninsula and theres only one way out that isnt water). There were around 50 dogs there when I went, 2/3 of whom were off-leash. Parking is a challenge, but not a reason to avoid this park. If you have a dog-friendly dog, this is a wonderful place to bring him/her to socialize and release some energy!

What makes this park so great for me is the size. My little girl doesnt usually like other dogs around her, but because its so large you could go a full day without bumping into anyone else, depending on how busy it is. the other reason its so great is the ocean is right there. I usually go in with my dog as she still needs a little encouragement to get in, if you do this make sure you bring some water shoes though, as some of the rocks are pretty sharp. Ive only seen one instance where there was a problem among the dogs. but if you need a large open area for your dog, or a place for them to swim, this is a great place!

Sc
Review №86

Very rocky on the beach, cloudy salty water, and the sand beneath the water is like glue and will take sandals off of your foot. Wear boat shoes, water shoes or bare foot. The best part is that this is not a beach that humans like, which means dogs can go for a swim in the prime season (July & august).

We live in Boston and drove to bring our two min pins to this park on Sunday July 30/17. We had our two dogs on leash and didnt make it 30 feet inside the gate when a dog, not on leash, attacked and bit my dog. The owners of the dog took no responsibility for their dog and said oh well and went on their way. I was shocked to say the least. Their dog then attacked another dog not 50 feet further into the park. We stayed for an hour and witnessed 3 more dog fights. All these dogs were off leash. To be honest there were more dogs off leash then on leash. I was terribly disappointed and we will not be going back. The lack of regard for others safety and the lack of enforcement of the dog leach law makes this park too high risk for injury.

If you like dog parks and trust that your dog will stick with you then this place is as good as it gets. My puppy isnt trustworthy enough yet to stick close to me in an unfenced area with other dogs so this place isnt for us. The park is an absolutely huge peninsula jutting into the bay. Dogs can swim forever at this park. Ive heard dogs arent technically allowed off-leash but youll literally find 50-100 off-leash dogs here every hour of every weekend. Go early morning or late in the day as parking is a nightmare!
