My oldest son has played with RAB for the last four years. His skill set and basketball knowledge has improved immeasurably. The program has built a very supportive and encouraging coaching staff who work well with the kids at all age groups. Our youngest will be starting his first season this spring with the third grade team. The RAB Academy was a great asset to the RAB lineup last year. Learning the fundamentals is where it all begins and as much as my oldest son thinks he can already do it all, the only reason he gets kudos on “his handles” is from the workouts at RAB.Great program.

Rise Above Basketball combines complete basketball skill development with unmatched mentoring and guidance to players who are committed to improving themselves and being part of a team. Three of our kids have played for RAB including our oldest who will be playing college basketball this fall as a direct result of his RAB experience. I highly recommend this program to anyone who is serious about basketball.

I was so disappointed with this program that I wrote the following letter to the director. He never replied which clearly says how little he cares about what happened to the kids this season. Parents beware. This program’s primary goal is to make money. The coaching was terrible, the play misaligned and the team was poorly managed. The coach, who was a 19 year old boy, didn’t show up to two games and they asked if the parents could help. Another time one of the kids on the team was visibly hobbling on the court, and the coach didn’t take the injured boy out. It was a difficult season. Read more below.Letter to the director: I am writing to let you know how disappointed I am at your business practices and the scam you have run with families in the Rise Above grade 4 boys team. Prior to signing up my son for the program I asked a number of questions. I was told he would be coached by someone with experience, but this was not true. I was led to believe the kids on the team were at the level of the program, and this was not true. I was told my son would have the opportunity to play all positions, and he has not. In fact the coach responded negatively when I asked if my son could play point guard. And what is most heartbreaking is that these young boys have been subjected to embarrassing defeats every weekend, losing every single game, often by 30 or more points. These boys came to the program because they love the game and wanted to improve. You led families to believe your program would support them. Early in the season, I spoke with my son about leaving. The only reason he has stayed is because the other kids on the team are such great boys and he does not want to leave them behind. I hoped that things might improve, or that effort would have been made to find a league that is at their level. But nothing has changed and there has been no acknowledgement from anyone at the program that what has happened is wrong. You know the level of play. You knew these boys did not have a fighting chance. You took our money purely for your benefit, with no consideration of the impacts this would have on our children, and you have made no effort to change the program to compensate for the humiliation these boys feel.

Very professional staff and easy to work with. You can tell they care about each player individually on and off the court.
