Grassroots movement in art. I love the recycling art. Junk art show was pretty awesome to see. I talked to a couple of artists who were very helpful and passionate about art. Hawaii is full of creative energy. Just swim or surf the energy flow!!!! Lol.

Beautiful art gallery set up when I visited. Their were free apples in the common area for visitors and the central fountain is very unique, It is powered by rain water. The building was clean and very open. I love all the windows to the outside viewing the surrounding park. Work checking out if you are in the area one day. I wouldnt travel far just to go here, though. Spent about an hour exploring the exhibit and surrounding area.

Great community resource for meetings and events. Overlooks the park and Hilo Bay with an open layout. Nice facility being well used by community groups including Toastmasters and school art programs. Easy parking.

Nice airy art center. Has an area where artists may hold talks and demos. Two levels. Many times artists are local people. Most shows may be seen in a half-hour. Bring a picnic lunch for the Wailoa Center is in a park with picnic tables.

A very serine park to be by the water, lie under the shade of banyan trees, walk/run the paved yet rustic paths, walk over the sloping bridges and peer into the calm waters, feed the ducks and geese that live around the park, and any number of active or relaxing activities you can think of. It is connected to the Tsunami Memorial and Wailoa Art Center, which has free admission and often displays many creative works that change every month. The major drawback is, the bathrooms are run down, but not at the Art Center!

We came for the photography exhibit. And it was well worth it. The building is in the round, so it is perfect for viewing art.A few years ago we enjoyed a quilt show here. I did pick up a 2019 schedule, wish I could return for a lot of the upcoming events. AND both that I attended were free.

Pristine natural pond beautifies this natural watershed Lakeshore river. The expanse of six bridges over natural flowing water, with fishermen, of course finding valuable menu fish here.

This was a cute little art center that features local artists. They were still setting up a few of the installations but it didn’t seem as if anyone was in charge or that there were guided tours. Quickly made out way through in about 20 minutes. Wish they would have had a self guided tour or had more descriptions regarding the artists. Otherwise a nice insight into current hawaiian artists.

Theres always something interesting going on here! The parking could be a little better (especially for a place that rains practically daily) but the facility itself is super nice and the people are always friendly.

The immense forest near the parking lot opening up to green grass where there are plenty of water fowl to gaze upon. The waters are clear and fish clearly visible. The palm trees framed by the distant mountain is idyllic
