Even with the pandemic, there are still many stalls open to provide us with fresh fruits and veggies. They are well spaced and because it is all outdoors, well ventilated. The prices are reasonable, and the quality is good. The food is good too. I usually go to the Star bakery stall and Thai truck. I miss the BBQ meat uncle. The wait was a long sometimes, but the meats were delicious!

Came on a Wednesday to take advantage of the mid week bonanza we come to call Hilo Farmers Market. This entire area has a market for everyone’s desire. Be it food, coffee, produce, antiques, locally produced art...With every large area comes some hits and misses but this location truly is more a hit than anything else. The market is fully open every .Wed and Sat with 300+ vendors while on any other day, expect 10 or so stores net open for comparison

This was a pretty good Farmers market to pick up some local produce, food, or other products. You can find some hand crafted good here as well as typical souvenir items. The parking wasnt bad but a little congested due to the small land area of the market. It is a relatively small market and would not even compare to the magnitude of markets in Korea or Japan. But was worth about an hour to shop and eat lunch.

Living in the mainland, there are a lot of fruits that arent available as they are here in Hawaii. So coming to this farmers market was a pleasant surprise. There are a lot of fruits that I miss eating, especially the mountain apple and lychee! Wished we had the variety of fruits, vegetables, and flowers in San Diego. Prices are cheap (e.g. small bag of about 8 mountain apple was $2.50), but definitely compare prices with different vendors to find the best price. Parking isnt a problem with lots of parking spaces around the local businesses (but best to come early). Definitely would go back next time in Hilo.

We went on a Wednesday when its a Big Market Day (Wednesday and Saturday). We read about the market previously online and through reviews before we planned to go, so not sure if everything we read set our expectations too high. Were more about the food, and while the prices were very reasonable, there wasnt a great variety of foods. Most vendors had similar produce (mainly fruit), which were cool to see, but was hoping to see more food vendors and more variety of different types of food (baked goods, desserts, drinks, cooked local dishes, etc.). The avocados are huge! There is a kitchen and couple food trucks across the street from the produce, the food truck we visited (Litchon) was quite delicious. Still glad we went during our visit, but not a must-see for us! There were also other large sections of the market for crafts, which we didnt walk through, but looked nice.

Too many outdoor markets are considered a Farmers Market. I get the concept but I went here expecting the worse. You been there before. Vendor after vendor and just nothing food related but there are a ton of home goods. This is a TRUE Farmers Market. There are two sides and one is a the Farmers Market. A ton of produce and food items. Anything from star fruit to nuts to honey. It is a small market with two isles and nobody knows how to obey traffic laws, keep that in mind if you have kids. You will want to make sure that you keep track of them as everyone is packed in.On the other side of the street is a couple of food trucks and a food/beverage stand along with more vendors of other goods. Not food, you are looking more at like homemade or NON-MASS-PRODUCED goods. There are a couple of good little shops that might have what you are looking for but OVERALL this is a good place to go.Check the WEBSITE before you go. There are a couple of days where there are a ton of vendors and there are days where there is minimal vendors.

It only happens twice a week, but it should be part of any Big Island trip. The produce was fresh. When I say fresh, I mean like grandma nust picked it and brought it inside. There are several other vendors selling everything from jewelry to photographs of the island. The overall feel is mellow and relaxing. It is also not so big you feel like you completed a hike afterward. There are some things with checking out nearby as well. A museum is 2 blocks away that focuses on the uninhabited Hawaiian islands including Midway that explains the history and protected status of the islands and has activities for small children. Best part, its free.

Hilo farmers market is a perfect market to get some local fruits and veggies, shop for gifts and local made items, clothes, snacks and house hold goods. The market has a little bit of everything and live music plus numerous stores and eateries surrounding the area so your walk can turn into going to the market then lunch and shopping to walking all around Hilo town square area. The weather is best looked at before you go as it can rain often in Hilo and other days be beautiful and full of sun. Parking is not bad just watch the parking signs for days and hours in certain areas you can park. Prices might seem a bit high on some items but no one said Hawaii was cheap right. Enjoy the market and the local people they love to talk story. Enjoy Hilo and all it has to offer.

Located in Downtown Hilo, the Market is known as one of the best open markets in Hawaii. Each week can be a different market as the items on sale can vary from fruit, vegetables antiques and handcraft to exotic produce, ready-made meals, souvenirs, beauty products, clothing, massage therapy products or precious stones amongst other interesting items to be found. The market offers affordable food, which both locals and visitors come to see, the majority being locally grown. You can find exotic fruit, herbs, island jams and jellies, macadamia nuts and delectable baked goods. Get there early to shop for the best choices from the market’s more than 200 vendors. The full scale market is best seen every Wednesday and Saturday, but some vendors are there almost every day. Near by the market you will also find souvenir shops with hand made products from wood from the area.

The best days to go are Wednesdays and Saturdays early in the morning. Vendors know which things are ready to eat immediately or in a few days. Just ask! Oh, I can forget the fresh coconut. We attended the Wednesday market. We liked: Some booths sold fresh fruit and produce. Others had art and photography. People were friendly and happy to chat about their items, let you try a sample, etc.We didnt like: Not many options for food or drinks to consume on site. There was a restaurant that appeared to operate every day although I dont consider them part of the market. Several of the vendors sold items that were totally unrelated to Hawaii, such as trinkets, toys, clothing that appeared to be imported from China. We didnt feel that added value to the market or the overall experience.Bathrooms are available for customers of the restaurant. There were no public restrooms.Parking was on-street but there were several street options within a 5 minute walk.
