Fun and informative tour; I learned so much from architect/tour guide Allen about how to incorporate French design elements into home decor using soft lighting, earth toned colors, balance, symmetry. What a treasure that has been preserved for many yesterday to come.

Tremendously cool to visit. Lots of bay area history in an exquisite period mansion. Our tour lasted around 2 and a half hours long and we could have easily listed to our expert guide talk for hours more. Absolutely worth trying for the lottery to get a tour - you wont find anything else like this in the Bay Area.

In college, I drove Countess Tolstoy from her “home” at the Fairmont Hotel down to Chateau Carolands then owned by Countess Lillian Dandini. Lillian was a gracious hostess and lovely lady. Took many photos of my My 54 Cadillac Limo in front of the Chateau...and my 85 Eldorado Biarritz Convertible recently..great memories indeed.

Amazing free tour of one of the most beautiful homes in the Bay Area. Youll need to go online and put your name on the monthly lottery, worth the wait! The docents are very knowledgeable and the remodeling work done to tell house is stunning.

The interiors of this Chateau is done tastefully. It has an interesting history. The tours are free, but the waitlist is long.

Restoration does not get any better,watched the most beautiful historic home renovation, feels wonderful to know it has been kept, the owner is to be commended to her purchase and joy of decorations and giving life back to this house and that some very wealthy people can do good for foundation to preserve and protect the house for arts and historical society to save it, thank you to The Johnsons, and I live just 20 miles south!!

Watched PBS special on this yesterday. What an interesting combination of history & real estate! Will definitely try to schedule a tour of this beautiful structure.

Well presented by Tom. An interesting and fun experience. The only downside is you cant see the bedrooms due to fire code restrictions.

Just watched the PBS special tonight about this historic place. Very interesting to hear of the beginnings and down through the years events of this estate. This huge estate reminds me of one I visited in Asheville, NC called the Biltmore Estate. Love to hear about and visit elaborate architectural mansions such as this one.
