One of the best public courses for the value on the North shore. Fastest greens around, with very unique undulation. Pace was slow, but that’s normal for a busy fall weekend. I will certainly be back!
Wow! Undulating greens are incredibly firm and must be running 11-12 right now. Hardly an easy tee shot on the day and I love how theyve redone the place. No straight lines whatsoever. Will look forward to coming back a bunch more!
If you want to be a private course, then go be a private course Sunset Valley. Impossible for local non-members to ever get a tee time much less a decent one because the raffle off all tee time. The Park District of HP should have nothing to do with this place as its not for the community, its for its members, and not tax dollars should be supporting this place in any way. Last time I played I was run all over the course by the starter trying to accommodate his favorite members by moving their starts around and combining groups. Nice course but hate the way its run, guess you have to go join a club like everyone else on the northshore if you want to play golf. Wont be playing here anymore.
Enjoy playing here assuming I can get a tee time. Always busy. In great shape considering the rounds played.
Sunset Valley redid their 18 holes and the greens and club house. Five Stars!Great track..
Wow! A friend whose opinion I respect called the redesigned Sunset Valley Golf Course lipstick on a pig. I couldnt disagree more.New tee complexes, many trees felled, additional bunkers and firm greens pose some refreshed and some new challenges for any level golfer.Tree removal not only allows one to miss a bit and still have a chance to save par, but also affords a much more visually pleasing inward half.If youre up north, go play Sunset Valley.
Well maintained- tough to score on- course thats fun to play.
Fun and challenging enough, in very good shape. Pace of play was great. Convenient to downtown Chicago.
Great course open to the public. The renovation really changed the feel of the course so if you have not been since head on back. Challenging greens with undulating fairways for interesting shots throughout your round. Highly recommend Sunset Valley Golf Course.
If they had a driving range itd be a 5 star
The course looked great. Carts were available after the renovation the year before. I played there last year with a thursday group from Sportsmans and shot my best score for the year. I thought the course was more wide open, the greens were in good shape, and the fairways were calling my name.
Nice round on Thanksgiving.
Nice place to enjoy the surroundings and have a cocktail!
This course is a newly renovated gem. The green complexes are fantastic. There are plenty of tee boxes for all golfers to enjoy this throwback to the 1920s.
Food was fine but service was very poor. Forgot our order and we had to wait for way too long. Would have been ok-ish had there been better service.
Great track with good sand. Challenging course but one you can score on.
They did a great job renovating this course. Much improved.
This is a beautiful golf course! and not particularly easy. Everything about it is Welcoming, even the parking lots! I say that because you have to navigate a few sub-division type streets and turns to find the course in the first place, so you feel like a success just parking your car.But it gets better. Upon entering the Clubhouse you will likely begin to feel like a Club MEMBER yourself! This is not just by chance, in my opinion, but because of The Guy Who Runs The Place, Rob Saunders, Manager of Golf Operations. The atmosphere, the attitude, and the allure of the entire place emanate from him, and are picked up and amplified by the staff and passed cheerfully and abundantly along to all who are lucky enough to get there for the first time and wise enough to come back for more!I mean, Golf should be fun, right? Well it IS a lot of fun at Sunset Valley Golf Course because of the people who provide it to us, Rob and his team. (I am not ignoring the all the folks who actually, and fantastically, maintain the course itself; I just havent met them yet!)Three things:A) Please! Please! Wherever you play, PLEASE repair your divots (and other excavations) in the fairways, ANDB) Repair any ball marks you find on the greens, including the one you just made on your last shot, ANDC) Did I mention the rough? Stay out out it. None less than Jack Nicklaus said to only tee it up with a club you know will put you in the fairway.Jim Scott
Friendly and course is in great shape
Great course, remodel was great.
Very bad experience. No benches on tees. No 150 yard markers and very few sprinklers heads with yardage marked. No drinkable water on course - was not advised of this when we signed in. Not a walkable course - paths from some greens to next tees was not planned well. 4 3/4 hour round - should be a 4 hour round. No Senior rate available at that time. Too high a rough around the green. Not a fun course to play. Will not be back with our 16 golfers.
Beautiful Remodel, doesnt even look like the same place. Great Job Wadsworth Golf Construction.
Still needs some path repairs but still a great place
Very nice course!
Lovely facility
The course is decent and could make some improvements but overall not bad and challenging, funny how the one star reviewer could not say what was wrong...not a whole lot. They have a nice cafe as well.
Great place to play golf... Courses are just beautiful
Good course, however rates a bit high with nicer courses for cheaper
Summer fun!
Plays like a Country Club
Newly redone public course
Currently under major construction, big things coming
The redesign is fantastic!
Nice

The review I read was so effing phony, I laughed for 5 minutes.
