What a great little side stop! It was really cool to see district 12 and hear the history of the area! The owners were very gracious and welcoming. They have lots of great plans for reviving this little village- so many changes to come but I still liked the nostalgia and history! The tour fee goes to the conservation of Henry River Mill Village

Used to be open no gate or nothing drive right in and look around. As a person who has lives in Hildebrand and drives by this spot daily dont waste your $15. Stop on the outside of the gate where its free and get your photos of the building. The guy who owns the property is super wealthy and doesnt want to spend his own money to restore anything so that is why he is trying to make a cash cow out of 2 buildings. Hes just mad no one wanted to buy the property for 1.4 million. Plenty of space to park on the shoulder for free and snap photos of the buildings.

The HRMV is privately owned and you need to contact them to enter the area. The guy who answered the phone was unbelievably friendly and despite the tropical storm allowed us to snap a couple photos since they were closed. Would be a beautiful location for photography and the website says they have paranormal tours.

On a whim we decided to stop here while traveling through the area. Im a hunger games fan, my husband had no idea what it was. We both enjoyed touring the houses and the area. We stopped at the trailer, talked to a nice guy that gave us info about the area and history. Then we walked around and took pics at our leisure. Cool experience.

It was a cool day trip to go on. It was one of the sites they used to film the Hunger Games movies, and is the site of Katnisss home and Peetas bakery in the movie. In August, they have plans to renovate most of the buildings and modernize them, so that will be fun to return to.

Little disappointed for the little scenery that you get with the money you spend. In the middle of renovations from vandals and age, so hopefully in some months to come there will be more to look at.

Very cool place to visit. Owners do daily tours for a fee. Fee is used for the upkeep and improvements of the property to better serve visitors. If you are a Hunger Games fan its a must stop! You get to see Katnisss house and the pastries shop seen in the movie.

$17 per ticket is ridiculous. Only 1 small house is open to your. The Bakery (from Hunger Games) is boarded up and you can barely see through the any windows. The porches on the other houses are in such bad shape you cant even walk on them to see inside a window. If you still desire to go, tell them you want to go to the gift shop. Its free and you see the 2 buildings from Hunger Games you want to see. Save your hard earned money.

Saw this on Google maps and was going to be in the area so we stopped by to check it out since it looked interesting. There was no one else there on a beautiful Saturday afternoon when many people are looking to get out of the house for a little while. I thought that was great, we dont have to worry about other people not following social distancing guidelines and breathing down our necks. I quickly found out why it was empty. As soon as we parked a person I assume is the caretaker approached and informed us theres a $15 per person charge to walk around and look, because its private property and they need money to build a museum. Let me say that again so it sinks in - FIFTEEN DOLLARS PER PERSON to walk around and look at a few buildings that are in the process of falling down. I saw a sign mentioning the charge, and a trailer where the charge is collected so its not like some local kid decided to set up shop and make a few bucks. This is their actual business plan.We got back in the car and left.Based on the fact there was no one else there on such a nice weekend day its clear theyve successfully found the limit of what the market will bear.

Henry River is a great place and you feel the history. However as for the preservation fund, I am not sure exactly what is going on with that. They take in a lot of money, but several buildings have been torn down and most are now boarded up. At the general store nearly all the windows are broken out.

Honestly some of the nicest people you will meet. They do tours three times a day, 10 12 and 2. They do full tours and smaller ones as well. They take donations as they are keeping the place up and trying to restore some of it. If your looking for some good history and amazing people then this is the place for you.

To be honest...I’m very glad it’s being restored and taken care of, but I miss the days when we could walk free on the property and explore. The coolest thing was a little old man who would hang around and tell us stories of his time growing up there and showing us around. I miss being able to explore on our own (yes at our own risk) and taking pictures and mostly LARPING. it was an awesome place for nerds to gather and LARP but now it’s heavily monitored and we aren’t allowed to go hardly anywhere...really sad about that.

Attended the 1st Annual Boos and Brews at Henry River Mill Village and had a fantastic time checking out all the cool costumes. Beer garden, live DJ, dance floor (yard) and outdoor game center were all a huge hit with those in attendance. The haunted trail lacked quite a bit. There was absolutely NO INTERACTION with our party of 5. We were basically hiking along a path lit by luminaries along the edge of the path. On the bright side, the Undead Paintball Shoot from a Hay wagon was pretty cool. Ill be back next year.
