PLEASE READ - Before I joined, I was weary about joining. I read Yelp reviews and here off Google. I was nervous, I read all negative reviews and wrote them down in detail. I placed my information on the WU site, received a call from one of the owners and was asked to set up a zoom meeting. When I did I was expecting a deceptive sales process. It was the flip opposite, this owner was open, honest and told me not to join till I called references. I grilled him with all my questions and he answered them. Cleared up the air and thanked me for grilling him. He appreciated it, he made sure that I was ready to join. I read Edgars review here on Google reviews, he claimed that management are worst to deal with. They are not, I call one of the owners so much, I bet he rolls his eyes when I call. I still ask many questions on hunts, ranches, etc. He has been extremely helpful and calls me back very quickly. Edgar claims there are no animals on the ranches...... seriously. These are open woods, in the mountains, in the wilderness. They are not farmed/fenced in lands. These animals are wild, they do as they do. You can go months without seeing anything, this is hunting. You want farmed, go pay for private hunts, pay 800 to 2,000 plus per hunt. Edgar also claimed these ranches are small, this guy..... they have many ranches at 2,000 acres to 27,000 acres and all points in between. How is that small? Alex had a similar review, do not be fooled by these 2 reviews. Dustin claims there is a draw, not true at all. WU trys to keep a certain amount of hunters in any given ranch down. This way you can hunt and not rub elbows with other hunters. If you wait till the last minute, of course you wont get in. You call a number, let them know what ranch you want and they tell you if it is available. Just have a couple in mind and dont wait till the last minute and you will be fine. David wrote that they dont give stats. Again people, its wilderness, 2 separate people can make hunts and have success on separate days. You see these stats and go, you blank. No game and you did a 3 day hunt. Thats hunting..... These are not fenced in farmed lands. They will not give stats, gives false expectations. David also said he did 6 hunts, seen nothing legal, hey buddy, welcome to hunting. All in all, this company is great! Beautiful properties, management wants you to be happy and keep using the properties. Dont be fooled by the reviews here, read between the lines.

Unlimited wilderness is the biggest rip off ! I highly suggest getting a guide for your hunting purposes! The people say ya all the fishing and hunting you want but yet there’s a draw on who can go on the ranches trust me it’s the biggest rip off in history if you want to waste your money go for it but that’s my opinion! Worthless company!

I was hoping to find a good company for CA big game hunting, so far Ive been quite disappointed. I wish they would give you info like harvest stats, success rates, or information of how the population is doing on certain locations, when I ask they say we cant give you any of that info... Ive done 6 hunts so far, all turkeys on other property, counted 18 does total on 4 properties, also I saw some sows with piglets, so 6 hunts and not seeing any legal game to harvest = poor management of game, habitat, and hunters. I really think they should cut ties with various properties that are not producing animals and invest in more new properties on a yearly basis or at least rotate properties from year to year. The private camping and fishing is nice, I think this would be a more sustainable resource for them to manage and advertise for

The day started out great. I found the blind and was in with time to spare. The birds were talking it up and it was on with just one exception, the birds were flying high and right on by. There were a lot of birds moving, they just werent doing any stopping. So I finished the morning with a bagel around my neck. It was back to the car for some lunch and a power nap.I was back in the blind but this time I went to blind #1 and not #3. And let me just thank the peeps that had a reservation at C&S today in blind #1 that didnt show up or canceled their res. That move was key to my success today. This was my first goose hunt and it turned out great. I hunted solo and learned my calling sucks and its better to leave it alone then to scare the birds away.I cant wait to get back out in the field. Thank you WU for a fantastic day and experience.

The shooting clinic was loads (pun) of fun and its good to attend a beginner’s event occasionally as there is always something to learn, even if you dont want to admit it. I received some good tips, especially for shotguns and archery. Its great to have someone knowledgeable looking at you while youre doing your thing to point out improvement opportunities. The day was worth it just for that. However, much more happened. I met some great folks, had a fun lunch with interesting conversation, and look forward to meeting these same folks on a future adventure.

Been a member for a long time, once you learn a few ranches you will consistently take game. I love that I am behind a locked gate and have access to multiple ranches all over the state! Well worth the money especially in this state where public land hunting is poor. For the cost of an out of state trip to Colorado, I can hunt year round for deer, pigs, turkeys and everything in between. Very family oriented and willing to please. Thanks WU!

Thank you WU for setting me up with Dennis. Ive been a long time quail and upland hunter and wanted to get into waterfowl. Dennis is an amazing mentor. Has a lot of patience and he is an inspiration to waterfowl. I learned a lot from calling to identifying the different types of birds. I am very happy with the club and also the experience.

We were very excited and pleased to be part of the Wilderness Unlimited Shooters Clinic and are already looking forward to the next one! My son had a great time learning with the other kids, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I myself would be learning how to properly shoot an arrow from a bow. The instructors were top-notch and very patient, the chili was the best Ive ever tasted in my life, and Ill be sure to sign up more guests for the next event. We are a family of avid shooters, but you never know what you dont know until youve been properly trained. Even after numerous hours of training, I never fail to learn more when I show up with the right attitude. Thank you for such a great day

I wanted to send you a short note thanking you for such a great outing on Sunday. When I registered for the rock cod trip, I hoped it would be an experience that would foster my son and daughters love of the outdoors and open their horizons to off-shore fishing; an experience they previously had in very limited quantity. The day could not have been better. In addition to the blessing of great weather and calm seas, the care you and Michael took to provide a wonderful experience was remarkable. Both Clara and Joseph caught their limit and thoroughly enjoyed the fishing experience. But getting to drive the boat well, that brought the experience to a new level. While enjoying a fine meal of fish tacos (nicely cooked in cumin and light butter thanks for the recipe), there was much discussion of the great adventure around our kitchen table.

Im a new member here in WU and am really excited to be a member! My wife and daughter are as equally excited as well. We are really looking forward to enjoying everything WU had to offer! Ive never seen my wife get so excited about the great outdoors when we were interviewed! Her excitement was very obvious when she exclaimed she was excited about shooting a wild boar! She had been interested in upland game birds for a few years and I just bought us both new shotguns. I have always been a big game hunter and am excited also! I have been pleased with the warm welcome I have received from the staff here. Tomorrow, and for the next few days I will experience my first outing in B zone for deer and possibly bear at the Horse Mane property. Im excited! Were from Napa and reside here in Napa too. Were happy to be a part of WU. Thank you!

My dad, my brother, and I just got back from an awesome trip to lake Margaret. The weather was nice and the fish were biting! We all agreed that this was one of the most enjoyable camping trips we have ever been on. My brother, who is not much of an outdoorsman, cant wait to go back! The fishing was absolutely amazing. in total we caught 67 fish over the 3 1/2 days we were there! And I managed to pull off the lake Margaret trifecta catching a rainbow, brook, and a 3 lb brown trout all in one day! Unfortunately I left my net at camp when I caught the brown trout and as I tried to pull him into the boat with no net he popped off the hook! Yeah I know if there arent pictures, it didnt happen. youll just have to believe me on this one, he was huge and fought like heck! I also hooked into another brown this morning that was twice the size of the other one but all it took was one jump and he shook the hook!! Additionally we got to see 2 bald eagles swoop down and grab fish out of the lake, and on the way out today we saw a bear run across the road and a nice buck! We got the full experience on this trip! Overall we had a great time and cant wait to go back! Thanks WU!

The offering of classes and extra items have made this a really enjoyable experience. From the Youth and Women shoot to clinics. As someone new to WU, it is a bit hard to get up to speed with reservations and how the process works. But after 3-4 reservations making reservations is easy. And this may have also been difficult for me because I was a BRAND NEW HUNTER. And have not started to hunt other then private land before WU.The staff always tries to be polite and patient.

Our first trip as new members, and our first full family hunting trip in Kern County. Our boys had so much fun seeing deer, hiking trails and learning tracks. They were asleep by 6:30 every night. Although we werent successful hunting we had such a great time, fell in love with the beauty of the country and made some great memories. By the end of it none of us wanted to leave. We already booked our next trip in another week. We are excited to learn the areas, meet great people and have some awesome adventures with our family. Thank you WU, we are so thankful to be apart of this organization.

This morning my dad took me turkey hunting again. This time we hunted at Willow Creek. Who says that there isnt any game on WU properties? Im already 2 for 2 this season! A special thanks to my personal driver, sherpa, hunting guide and expert turkey caller, a guy I call Dad. He called in a hen to act as a live decoy and kept her there for over 2 hours. It was fun watching her feed and cluck. She wouldnt make a sound louder than a cluck. So dad had to make calls without spooking her. Under her close supervision, he managed to called in 3 toms for me to pick from. I love spending time with you! These are memories (and quality naps) that Ill never forget.

My brother and I went on our first real duck hunt at Butte Creek Farms this weekend and got 9 ducks and 2 speckle belly geese, thanks to the WU Mentor Program. Rick, from the WU office, offered to take us out instead. We had ducks landing in our decoys before shooting time. While those ducks took off before we could shoot, plenty more came after shooting time and we were able to get 9 ducks and 2 geese before 9 am.

Im going on my 4th year as a member and have really enjoyed my club membership. My wife got the membership for me as a 20th wedding anniversary present (lucky me!) primarily for the waterfowl hunting but over the last couple years I am also really enjoying the big game ranches. The properties are diverse, beautiful and I know if I hunt hard I will see game, which is really all you can ask. They seem well managed as well, as even when the ranches are fully booked they never seem crowded. The patrolman have all been friendly and helpful and on several occasions they have been nice enough to steer me into some good areas on properties that I am hunting for the first time. Your office staff has also always been friendly and accommodating. I like the fact that you screen your prospective members and I have met some really nice fellow members on the properties as well. In short I think you have a great organization and I look forward to being a member for years to come.

The Wilderness Unlimited Foundation Youth Camp hosted by Wilderness Unlimited (WU) is without a doubt the best program around for introducing kids to the outdoors. Over the course of one week, our kids aged 9 and 13, fished, hiked, shot rifle, archery and shotgun, and participated in a whole bunch of other activities in a spectacular outdoor setting at the WU Clarke Ranch, Kudos to staff and the volunteers. Just joined today... sent info request to WU in 9/17 and just heard back from WU in 1/18.... they have limited memberships (so many members based on # of properties and space)... I respect that... can’t afford duck blinds in Colusa at $4k and up for one year... competition is crazy for public spots... too crowded...Memberships cover camping, fishing, waterfowl, big game (deer, bear, turkey)... OR has trophy elk and Mulies for an extra fee ( state fee)... I like to hunt... my wife likes to camp and fish... we can go together.... trucks with 4WD gets everywhere you need to go...No pressure... other members will help you out... don’t have to waste lots of time scouting... you’re spending money one way or another....

Dont be discouraged. I appreciate every member that has given me advice. The patrolman and other member have always been more than helpful (especially with my kids). Sat in a few blinds where two guns went off and another who hit the bird told my son great shot go get your bird... weve also been on ranches when storm comes in and we were all stranded in camp and couldnt get out and some members worked together others kept to themselves and did their own thing. Take advantage of every youth and women hunt opportunity. Always ask questions. WU gives me a great place for my family and I get to make a couple friends along the way. Game comes and goes just hope to be in the right place when the shot comes. Oh yea my 1st duck hunt was on WU and it took me 3yrs to get our 1st goose

DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING Mike Drozen says to you, he is NOT an old member, hasnt even gone to a WU property. Do not give him a post dated check or CC information to be run later. He will turn it in, run your info, and lock you into a contract that is basically a scam. If you dont cancel within 3 days, they will NOT let you go until you pay off a year. They do not put ANY money into their duck clubs. They will LIE at every turn. DO NOT BELIEVE THEM!!! they are only interested in your $$$. The club has been losing members like crazy and filling their rank by lying to the new folks.Make no mistake, they are NOT to be trusted!!
