I dont see why anybody would give this landmark less than 5 stars. its a dope monument in an alright area and its a nice photo opp too. the beach boys were a legendary group in their day and its a good thing landmarks like this still exist. they should have more of these all over the city for many other artists in the future.

Though it’s not so well-known outside diehard music lover circles, Hawthorne is where the Beach Boys got their start. The modest Wilson home where the band’s founders grew up was once located on West 119th Street near the downtown area, just a stone’s throw from the monument that now memorializes their impressive rise to global stardom. Most guests won’t need to spend more than a half-hour at the official California Historical Landmark, but it’s a worthwhile stop for those looking to experience a unique bit of American pop culture. The Wilson’s home was demolished to make way for a new highway decades ago, but the monument is easy to reach from the 105 freeway.

If you like the beach boys and you are in the area its worth stopping. The house has been destroyed to make way for the freeway, but its still cool to be in the area.

Nice to stop and see the marker where the Wilsons house used to be. There are many tribute bricks with Beach Boys lyrics. Just off the 105 fwy at Crenshaw.

Very nice historical marker for a Beach Boys fan. This location really changed popular music forever and contributed mightily to the image of California beach culture. It’s just unfortunate that this house was torn down to make way for the 105 Freeway. Nevertheless, it’s a wonderful quick stop for a Beach Boys fan.

Meh.. its boring. The houses are not there anymore or anything that remotely looked that there was houses there. Do yourself a favor. JUST LOOK AT PICTURES. trust me..

So happy to see this landmark for the Beach Boys. Truly deserving to be remembered especially for Brian Wilson and the tormented life he lived.

This is a neat memorial to the Beach Boys near to where their childhood home was which is now covered by the 105 freeway. The monument has some interesting informative panels and cool reliefs. The neighborhood is older and could be considered questionable, but it is improving. Several significant companies have moved into the area. Most notably SpaceX at the nearby Hawthorne Airport. Just the same some might say this site was best visited during the day time.

The great thing about this monument is how it manifests Southern California values, such as they are: progress has a priority over culture.

If youre a fan of them, this is a must stop. I found it out of curiosity driving from LAX to my hotel nearby in July 2017. it is located in a residential neighborhood with bars on the nearby homes so I didnt stay long being totally unfamiliar with the area. It is located along the 105 Freeway where their childhood home was torn down to make way for the freeway. For fun, I took my Summer of 75 t-shirt to display when they and Chicago appeared together at the Capital Centre in Largo, Maryland for a week long series of sold-out concerts. It was my first concert I attended. Nice memorial to their childhood home.

I was raised in Torrance just a few miles from this site and knew the BBs were raised in Hawthorne, but didnt know of the Monument. It was nice to think about those times and hear in my head the music. It was Good Vibrations.

A fine reminder of the miracle that is the Beach Boys. It is located on the site of the childhood home of the Wilson boys, which sadly was destroyed by the construction of the 105.

So finally after living in S. California for 30 years I Have made the pilgrimage to the closest spot to the original home of the Wilson family and the largest core of its favourite sons - The Beach Boys, and I am truly humbled to be at what was the beginings of the greatest group the world had and has ever seen!

I think of the Beach Boys whenever I drive along the 105 freeway near this location. The true location of the Wilson home is now beneath the 2nd, 3rd and 4th lanes of the Eastbound 105 freeway, which is about 110 feet directly North of the Memorial. God Bless Dennis, Carl and all the band. The Memorial is modest and can be enjoyed in about 15 minutes and will bring back fond memories for all fans. I recommend enjoying the Memorial during the daytime.

Fantastic monument dedicated to an imporant part of SoCal culture. Too bad the freeway was built over the actual house.

Too bad the freeway was not routed to preserve the house. Its not just that the house was where some of them lived, but also where they practiced and wrote some of their greatest songs. Thanks to everyone who worked on this tribute them.

Tiny monument. The writing on the bricks are more related to local politics than the beach boys. Literally nothing more to see here than the photo. If youre looking at this page, you should visit anyways.
