The carousel is closed when I visited but the new kids playscape was nice. It will keep older kids also interested and play.

This was like taking a trip back in time. It is really pretty cool that they still have something like this up and running in the city of Hartford.It was fairly cheap. The people that were here to go for a ride on the carousel were nice and respectful of each other.The carousel is on the edge of Bushnell Park. The park itself is pretty.This is a great thing to do with the little ones (kids or grand children) that wont break the bank.This is something they will remember for years to come...

Great place to be a relaxed human being. People are walking their dogs, strolling with their children, and smiling at one other at Busnell Park. It is an easy walk from the downtown. I enjoyed my relaxing Saturday afternoon.

Well maintained park where you can spend nice time. Great views of Capitol area. Carasoul ride is fun activity for kids. Super cheap. Just a dollar for ride.Fountain was surrounded by roses.

Free ice skating...yes..FREE skates and Free ice time. They also have Free lessons on Saturday morning. Its Seasonal so check the website. They do sell Hot Chocolate.

Love the park the carousel,so nice. I visited when Santa was there, amazing experience they also had the ice skating what a experience the kids loved it. will be back for other future events.

The park is a nice walk, with sprawling grass areas, historical monuments, and works of art to admire. However, the garbage is disgusting. The beautiful wild birds wading in sewage and filth made me sick. Hartford needs to clean it up and make it a place to enjoy. Our state capital park...seriously? Connecticut..you can do better.

This place was awesome. The restoration is phenomenal. Its a beautiful piece of history. Originally built in 1914, the Carousel now plays a big part in giving children of all ages a little trip in time.

I love this place it was awesome they held an event on Christmas Day for free ice skating.

Clean and open park, it was a nice leisurely walk. We admired the State Capitol building and the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial arch. We spend about 45 minutes here. Theres also a fountain.

Definitely a go to place if you want to make a quick half day trip with family and kids. Also know for arranging various cross cultural events across different origins.

We had a great visit at the Bushnell Park carousel. Not only is the carousel painstakingly restored and gorgeously set up in an enclosed area, but there is also plenty of informative history on posters all around the inside of the building. We enjoyed the family time, the carousel itself and the great photos with the carousel as a beautiful backdrop

Beautiful horses with real looking tails. It has the typical benches as well but there are also some horses that are stationary for kids who want to ride a horse but are afraid or nervous of the movement. They have old timey music playing. My daughter loved it for just $1 per ride! We got some popcorn on the way out and chilled in the park. Very nice outing and cheap.

Big open park right next to capitol building...The park itself is very beautiful. I really love the fountain center piece. This park is right near the state capital building which is really a pretty sight. I was there to attend a community event. Throughout the year, events happened in this park. Bushnell Park is a great place to go if you have the need a break from the city life and want to be surrounded by nature.

I LOVE this place! My kids and their friends do too! The staff is super friendly and accommodating. We just held a birthday party of my daughter who was turning 3 and I cant stop saying good things about my experience. Our guests loved the place, the helpful staff, and the facilities. The price for the birthday was ridiculously affordable, and the staff bent over backwards to ensure everything was perfect! This is gem in the Hartford area and more of us should support it!

Their ride cost $1 only. The same one In NYC would require you to pay about $15-$20!So much fun for kids and adults are allowed too.The carousel has an antique organ which plays music every time you ride. This is not recording it is real live music:)Also they sell a hot chocolate there and very delicious popcorn...

So thankful for the private party that donated to restore this historic place of hartford! This indoor carousel is quite enchanting and rides are only a dollar. They do accept donations which might help go toward getting indoor AC so be sure to dress on the cooler side if your going in summer !

Its not something you see very often anymore, a good old-fashioned carousel. what I found disappointing was that they had two signs hanging from the ceiling and very large print saying BE NICE! The explanation point was part of the sign not something that I added.

Attended my nieces birthday party. I paid for my son to ride the carousel and gave him money to buy popcorn separately so he wouldnt take away from any child attending. The adults were all socializing as the kids were having fun, some riding the carousel while others hung out doing what teenagers do. The manager came around stamping everyones hands to charge the host whether they were riding the carousel or not. She upset the mother, having her in tears because she was under the impression she just had to pay for the attendees who were going on the carousel.She scolded the mother saying we already went over this yesterday. She wouldnt talk to anyone else. The party was ruined by her nasty attitude. The other employees were wonderful. They tried to apologize for her attitude.

I actually remember going here when I was younger. That made me increase my rating. Also I think kids should enjoy an old fashion carousel. I think carousels are americana that is dying

Just perfect for someone like me who grew up with a carousel. I enjoy going a carousel park whenever there is one in the city I am visiting. $1 a ride is awesome and so many kids are going like five times in a row and so good to see happy, excited faces riding the horses. Great choices of carousel music as well.

This is one of the only beautiful serene locations left in Hartford. Downtown Hartford is special because of this park. Ice skating is next cant wait.

Who wouldnt want to ride a beautifully restored, classic carousel. Especially in cold weather, the protection of the surrounding gazebo was appreciated. Hearing the music and watching the colorful horses circle around was a delight. I visited the carousel with friends and their two young children, and we all had a blast. The kids enjoyed picking out their horses, and the adults enjoyed the entertaining music. It was the first time any of us heard Johnny Cash as a carnival-type tune on an organ. The song was stuck in my head for days afterward, but I didnt mind. A ride on the carousel is an affordable and fun way to spend an hour or so on a weekend afternoon. At the ticket booth, you can also learn more about the carousels history and buy little souveneirs. There was a childrens birthday party taking place while we were there. It seemed like a great place for a kids party, and everyone was having fun.

Turning 100 years old in 2014, this Carousel maintains the past, while the future buds all around it.For just $2.00, you get a 3 1/2 minute ride that can blur your worries, trick you into feeling young and enlarge the eyes of even the widest-eyed youngster. The Knox Foundation brought the carousel to Hartford from Canton, Ohio, in 1974. Jack Dollard, director of the Foundation at the time, thought the horses would symbolize Hartford’s restoration.The New England Carousel Museum received the contract to manage the Bushnell Park Carousel in 1999 and began work to fully restore the Carousel in time for her 100th birthday celebration in 2014. Currently, this carousel is only one of three left Stein & Goldstein carousels left operating in this country.​They, like many carousel craftsmen, started in Russia as carvers of women’s hair combs. I liked it. This park is best suitable for morning/evening jogging. Well made tracks ,surrounded by some historical buildings and statues. Nice place to spend an evening when you have nothing else to do.

Actually,there for skating rink,Bushnell Park has one of the oldest Merry go rounds,these horses all crafted from fine wood,hand painted,just beautiful,check it out in April.....

Always fun & makes you feel just like a kid again!

I take my kids at least twice a week. Very fun, clean area, and some delicious snacks available too. I enjoy this place very much with my family. The surroundings are great too, a nice looking pond with benches around it, great green grass and trees, plenty of wild life, there are arts, monument, and if you go during lunch time many trucks will be selling some delicious food, I love the spot, an oasis in the middle of the city I called it.

I have been going there all my life and the experience when I was a child and now bringing my children is a blessing

Carousel was beautiful! And faster than expected. Only $1 to ride and the 2yr old was free. The childrens park was a nice addition for the kids.

A nice spot to have a family outing especially if there is an event going on. Nice for a walk or run and a little bit of bird or squirrel feeding. I played kick ball and baseball there with my kids.

Guitar Under Stars event happened here in the pavillion over the weekend. The sounds of the performers didnt carry over into the crowd well. Jazz events are typically good here. The playground area has been rebuilt recently. Carousel rides are a dollar per person. They also sell ice cream. If the park in crowded you can find parking around the park or park for free in a state lot. I like to park at the Capitol. Winters there usually include outdoor ice skating rink, rent skate options if you dont have skates and there is typically hot drinks served during that time for a fee. If you are a Hartford resident you can get a pass to ride the carousel for free through printing a pass (with library card) from the HPLs website.

Love taking the kids here! Such a beautiful peace of history right there for us to enjoy. The new park is great 2! So unique and artistic with the touches of Hartford incorporated in all the pieces

Who doesnt love a carousel - and one with so much history and authenticity? A jewel in the park in Hartford, you have to go at least once. Take a ride and re-live your childhood - take some kids with you. Its a lovely venue and a fun ride. The extra treat is to see the wide-eyed kids enjoy their first ride on the wooden horses.

Horrible place to book a birthday party ,I had a horrible time, worst ever. It started with miss communication and their employees and managers are unprofessional and ghetto. So my lil princess b-day got ruined thanks to the unprofessionalism of the manager in front of my guest and most where kids. The place try to rip me off they where charging for guest that paid already. And miss communication between employee and manager. So many things at once that I couldnt belive my day and how they didint have any consideration for the birthday that got ruin, one employee that was there told me that this happens a lot. Then we decided to call the person in charge of it higher than manager and a more professional person but very defensive person of her employees with out a clue of how they behave or maybe she knows and that is y she is like that. She had said that this was the first time she hear a complaint, doubt that, and she didint try to leave me with a they are sorry what can they do for me. Oh well since nothing can be done just a lesson learn of life. So event paid. No money back and birthday ruined. Embarrassing in front of my guest in top of all. Sincerely never again.

This carousel is one of the biggest events of the park Im quite sure the kids can tell you that they also have a playscape nice big area park is nice nice eyes good walking around if you want to get your exercise on some people bring their pets but I advise you if you do dont forget your poop bag and make sure your dog is on the leash its a beautiful atmosphere I love it
