Gorgeous display of truly fine quilts. Several shows were featured throughout the museum making it well worth the trip. You arent rushed in any way and can get truly close to see the stitching and fabrics. Just NO Touching, of course.

I visited to see a special exhibit dedicated to NASA and the original Moon shot. The special exhibit was very well presented in a very large space. The rest of the museum was good, too. They did a nice job of representing Virginia quilt art and history. Its two stories and a basement, so be ready for some stairs. There was a modest entrance fee, too. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable.

At first, I was not expecting much from the Virginia Quilt Museum (VQM) as I had not heard much about it. While visiting my girlfriend in Harrisonburg, Virginia - I decided to stop by and see what they had to offer. Spanning three floors, the Virginia Quilt Museum is not so much a history museum as it is a contemporary showcase of modern quilts. Though there are some historical pieces in here, I was pleasantly surprised at the modern adapations of the craft that they had on display. I would post pictures, but you really have to see it in person! All in all, I enjoyed my visit greatly.

The Virginia Quilt Museum is the biggest disappointment of 2018. My husband tried to bring me on Saturday for my birthday and despite having hours listed on their website and Google indicating it was open, we arrived at the front door of the museum to find it closed. The New England Quilt Museum and Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum are way more reliable.

Great place to visit if you are interested in Quilts. They even have a modern quilts display. The small building looks deceptive, its really pretty big inside and there are lots of quilts.
