Fair and Honest review. Potential Hazards and Lack of security measures (also hazardous) are found here at this community park (evidence in photos). During a walk on the trails here, as a person who worked at a dangerous jobsite under constant scrutiny by OSHA for many years, I spotted above me a very large decayed branch that is close to breaking off and seriously injuring or killing a passerby (Remember to look up when passing through these trails!). While walking the trails I also noticed that one part was severely damaged with large bumps within it. I also found one of the brick pillars that holds up an overhang at the recreation center to be in poor condition due to poor upkeep that allowed mold to infect the pillar as well as the foundation the pillar sits on and as a result can cause a collapse from the weakening of the pillar and its foundation.In spite of cameras and occasional patrol of police officers there are some security concerns. Almost every electrical box either had no lock or wasnt locked at any time I visited this park. Also, behind the recreation center is a dangerous area which isnt closed off at all (kids playing around could easily get hurt !). A couple other things to note is the sprinkler system hardly works at all and is clearly evident not just by watching how it functions but by the extremely poor condition of the landscape which is turning into utter dirt. Lastly there is a lack of concern here for trash. There is trash just about everywhere along the property alongside and inside the bushes. Theres even a huge pile of burnt roofing off to the side which looks as if this is becoming a dumping ground. In one photo I provide there is an old rusty coke can that is a testament to the parks lack of concern for the upkeep of the property. This place holds numerous events and has a senior citizens establishment at its front door. If there is any concern for the well-being of people and for the appearance of this park then all my findings should be taken seriously and addressed immediately. My son has played sports with the Hanahan Rec Center for a few years now and we have had no complaints! They are always very helpful and my son loves it!
