The people here were friendly & respectful, but special shout out to Patty & Dwight who went out of their way to make our stay more enjoyable. The landscaping was great, & the campground was quiet. I remember camping here when my children were young, (over 20 years ago) it was nice to revisit an old friend. Well definitely be returning with the grandkids.

It is an amazing camp ground. Has a petting zoo, lots of play grounds. A beautiful lake. The cabins look nice. But I did not go inside any of them. They have a nice big dog park that our little pug loved. It is well maintained. If coming through you should really stop in.

Satisfactory for a trailer park. The sites are packed fairly close together. Fire grates could benefit from some landscaping or soul grading - ours has a ten degree slope, so didnt work to have lawn chairs around it to enjoy the campfire.I will reserve judgement to see if the new ownership makes improvements.

We have been going to this beautiful camp ground for many, many years and have allot of wonderful memories from throughout the years. We since moved to Arizona but you better believe when we visit home we always stay at Ham Lake Campground. If you want a nice and quiet place to camp, where everyone is friendly and has everything you need, this is the place to be. Oh wait, i forgot Sadly this year we found out that it has been sold with many changes. I want to say good bye to all original peeps and thank you for so many amazing years. Our memories at Ham Lake Campground will never be forgotten.

Had so much fun with my family, but lake is to dirty for swimming.Rented a row boat with the kids that was fun.Fire rings located almost everywhere kids enjoyed roasting marshmallows.Kids also enjoyed the playground.Bathroom & showers were nice & clean.Only downsides is you have to be a member in order to camp yearly after the $40/3day trail.... Member ship for a life time is 9,000 & up ( monthly payments) good price but down payment is way to much over 2,000.Rented a camper, beautiful but bed comforter & pillow cases look like they havent been washed thank goodness we brought our own other than that camper was great.Petting zoo was a little sad, animals have dirty water, poop everywhere felt bad for them... Only 1 llama, 1 horse, 1 donkey & a lonely peacock.Activities were eh okay, but other than that we had fun.I would go back again if they would just be open to public all summer.

This place is unbelievable, the workers are there to help anyone in need. The campers are friendly. This place is kid friendly. I would recommend this campground to all that love to camp. They have water sewer and electrical hookups. Plenty of space. On weekends they have community bonfires. For the kids, arts and crafts, movie on Saturday. Petting zoo. The staff will make it a point to make sure the kids interact to help feed the animals. On a hot day, a person can go swimming at the beach. If you are a fisher person. There are a few boat rentals. Very responsible. Go into the office, to purchase your wood to have back at camp. And while your there enjoy a cup of coffee. Or a cold beverage. Also if you have Landry to do. They have a facility for that. Indoor showers. And bathrooms. The rangers take care of the place as if it were there Owen. Not to far from town if you have to buy those unexpected items. Go there and give them a major. You will not regret it. I am going back myself. I met a few people there that I would consider friends.

Received an offer to attend a presentation, and to receive a gift from them in return. Confirmed the appointment and showed up. They then tell me that my wife has to be present in order for me to check in for the event. No compassion, no explanation, says it should have been emphasized over the phone. Nope, it wasnt. Wasted 30min driving here for nothing. Will definitely be posting this everywhere I can to turn people away from this place. Dont waste your time here at Ham Lake Resort.

It was a wonderful weekend! the only issue I have is Rapid City has new employees constantly as well as the the other resorts and once again, I received wrong information about Ham Lake Cabins, Hook Line and sinker .We were told and our neighbors were also told that there was a two burner stove in the cabins which there was NOT... This has been going on for the 12 years that we have been members .we love the Resorts but its always discouraging that the info. is so inconsIstent. Its annoying and embarrassing when we bring friends and when we arrive to find out what we were told was not correct. We were told at Ham Lake we could have our camper in storage moved to a spot for 10.00 which was not true so now we are looking frantically for a vehicle so we can camp instead of use the cabins.I love MOR but get different answers from different employees every time I call..Other that that , we are pleased with the resorts the cabins the cleaning crew etc. Just hard to trust the info received and get nervous every time we arrive to find out what we were told was incorrect.

We love Ham Lake Campground. Park has petting zoo, play cabin, 1 large park, 1 small park, picnic shelter for groups, game rentals, and the lake. Ham lake is clean with amble fishing but small catches. Swim area is shallow. 50 feet from shore water is about 3 feet deep. Makes it great for kids. Hands down when you go ask if Joe is working. Joe will be your best friend as he makes rounds checking in on guests. He has a great sense of humor and he is really why we keep coming back

I have lived in Ham Lake for 30 plus years and have never heard anything about this place. I knew it was there but, thats about it. From my perspective, it seemed like we were outsiders and were treated as such. The beach is secluded and mostly well kept (no sand and a little mucky but, that may be because of higher than usual water levels), by far it was the best part of our experience. Ive since talked to others about the campground and now know why Ive never heard anything about it, everyone just shrugs and said eh.

The worst experience ever. They catch you with a bait and switch. We responded to a post card for free 7 nights and only got 3 nights so I booked labor day weekend. We had to attend a presentation which is ok, but they were forcing it on a day we could not be available. If we didnt attend we would be charged $125 per night. The manage Nikki is rude, not customer friendly, everything was policy, policy and no empathy to the situation. She had the conversation in front of guests and her staff. What a leader right. Most of the people said I cant help you I am just the sales person. That is a red flag folks. We have stayed in many RV campgrounds and this one had no major amenities and the rvs were squeezed in very closely together. I did reach out to corporate and spoke to Dedra who was very nice and apologized (the only one). Beware of this place. Read the BBB reviews before you go if you have to.

New company owns it now a type of ownership. Wanted us to pay $10,000 to have access to their camp grounds about 8 in the midwest. If you used camp grounds in other areas you had to pay a fee on top of the yearly maintenance fees and the initial membership. This camp ground was very run down the play equipment was from the 60s to 70s. They still have metal slides. Great to burn off a layer of skin in the summer. The petting zoo was disgusting and not really petting more observing. The planned activities were lacking and a joke. They said they just acquired it and plan to improve the place.

We stayed here for 3 months in late 2013. The owners are wonderful, friendly people. The office staff were the same. I was at the very end of my pregnancy and didnt get around much, so I had my children running a lot of errands for me. I would send them to the office many times for various reasons. The people in the office were always friendly and welcoming to them, and never treated them like they were a burden. The sites are very nice and the surrounding woods make for a very beautiful stay- no matter the time of year. During the summer months they have activities every weekend for kids. When there arent activities for the kids, there is still so much to do. Ride your own bikes, take a walk, rent one of their laying-down (as our family called them) bikes, visit the petting zoo, go swimming in the lake, and so much more. We would totally stay here again.

This is a kind of a strange review. Where I only give it one star, but it is a very nice campground. So why do I give it one star? Because it was bought out by a larger campground company, and they want to charge everyone 5K for membership next year. I think that is BS no matter how nice your campground is. We have stayed there a few times with a tent, and this last time in the Lunker lodge. Great time, very clean and would absolutely stay there again if they would not charge me a membership fee. Too bad. Also the boats could use some up keep and work.

I dont know what some of these people are talking about, this is by far THE NICEST campground my family and I have stayed at! The grounds are very well kept, the buildings are clean, and the staff is fantastic. Rates are the same as the website states and are reasonable/comparable to any other campground. Yes, I did see some people smoking, but didnt think that it was in any way excessive or stinky, people smoke and I would tell anyone that is oversensitive about that...its a campground! They have a petting zoo, activities for the kids on Saturdays, a nice clean beach area, and will often times deliver firewood to your site. I will happily continue to camp here, my next 2 stays are already booked!

It is a great campground to stay, but I feel like it has gone down hill a little since the new owners. They have done updates, a new fire pit and a new shelter at the beach. Sites are clean, bathrooms are clean but the one needs major updating. The new owners and staff sit on the deck (and I am guessing in the house that is attached) and smoke, which makes the office smell REALLY BAD! I thought it was funny that they do not sell the candy cigarettes anymore, but they site out front, drive around on the carts and SMOKE, lol!The speeding of cars was bad, no one seems to watch for kids or drive slow. Car passes were given out, but people just drive in and use the beach with no one stopping them. This never was that way before. I even asked one person if they were staying and they said they just drove in.We will still stay there again with friends because it is a family friendly campground, just sad to see it this way. I really hope they can fix it before it goes too far.

We visited Ham Lake Campground over the 4th of July weekend in 2013. We loved our site and all of the fun activities they offered. However, the groundskeeper was cranky and made us feel very uncomfortable and not welcomed whatsoever. We have camped our whole life and have never had any issues like we did at this place. All of the other workers were friendly and made us feel welcomed - it was only the elderly man who treated us this way. We had children with us and we felt as if we were children getting in trouble by our parents. It was degrading and humiliating since he was not discreet & made a fuss over nothing. Because of this, we will not return to Ham Lake Campground. Do not get me wrong - we respect the security, slow speed limits and quiet hours rules they enforce here. But we did not appreciate being told to go to sleep by 11pm (asleep - not quiet time), refusal of selling wood to us (at 8pm on Saturday night) and all of the other little things that kept happening that finally pushed me over the edge. As if we were being outcasted as rude guests. Just to clarify & explain one encounter - it was only me & my husband awake, no fire, quiet cell phone music on (soft, mellow acoustic music), enjoying each others company while children were sleeping inside. We were told to go to bed and throughout the whole weekend, he would tell others about us. Including our children...he would say things to them or in front of them that was completely uncalled for. Every time we turned our head, he would be there saying some kind of rude comment. At one point we wanted to leave early but paid for our spot and didnt want to ruin the family weekend. We are a family of five in our thirtys - not partying 20 year olds causing problems. Needless to say, this was our first & last time coming here which is a shame because it is close to home and we enjoy camping throughout the summer. I guess we will have to find an alternative camping ground for our next trip in two weeks.
