In 1950s you could walk about a half mile to the south and see part of a WW11 defense tunnel that went through the bluff about 20 feet from the surface. My friend and his wife actually crawled through the tunnel. It and the bluff has been eroded away by the many years of rain and wind. Wish Id taken photos to substantiate my claim of its existence. Would sure be happy if anyone has any photos

A mixed experience today... Visited the beach on a foggy morning and it was beautiful to watch the waves and the birds. But I dont know if its a seasonal thing... The walkway from the parking lot is totally infested with mold, and it also extends onto the inward side of the beach. After a short walk through the sand, our shoes were caked in moldy dirt that carried into our car, into our house, now the mold smell is everywhere! Be careful and be sure to clean your shoes thoroughly.

Beautiful but pretty busy, even with Covid. Didnt see one person with a mask. Great views, a brewery on the way, and plenty of spots to pull over and explore. Small beaches over the cliffs that you can walk along other beaches to or boat to, and pull-offs on the road offer nice cliff vistas.

This is one of the most gorgeous and one of my favorite beaches simply because of the incredible view you get from climbing up the steep hill. I also love how far you can walk along the beach and the interesting rocks and shells you can spot on the way.

Great beach for long hikes North or South at low tide (check before going). Surfing usually mediocre but its convenient for people over the hill on hwy 84. Youll need to pay for parking; best to get a CA Parks Poppy pass. No food nearby but great options South in Pescadero .

Not a far walk from parking lot to beach. Beach is long and plenty of room to space out. It is not a steep walk down to the beach, but part of the path is along smooth, slippery rocks that you need to be careful. Theres bathrooms and a lifeguard hut, but no showers to rinse off.

Foggy day for an impromptu drive to the beach with family. Fresh air and ocean view watching birds, people and waves made a quiet restful excursion. Kids playing on the sand. Some adults and teenagers golfing in the wild grass near the picnic tables. Lunch was a combination of home packed snacks and takeout from Tres Amigos taqueria on the way.

Nice beach with a fresh water outlet to the ocean. Path down to the beach is hard to navigate for elderly and hardicaped. Like most beaches on the coast you have to pay to park or park down the road and walk in. Has four restrooms. Plenty people fishing. Shallow water outlet is good for kids.

Cool beach for a stop. You can climb to a hill to have a good view of the area.

Great beach with loads of parking. Lots of good open sand area for relaxing. Good spot for a large group outing. I do not understand the pay system for parking though, which is $8 and appears to be cash only? It says on the booth that you can pay with card but I dont know how or where. Perhaps thats only on the weekend (we were there during the week). So, bring exact change. While there arent stairs down to the beach, the path is partially on rock and may be a touch difficult to navigate for those who have difficulty walking.

Awesome Picnic with a very special person in my life. We hiked up to the ridge and had a beautiful view of the sand and water below. Because of fog, some view was limited but I was still able to see the beautiful sun glisten from the oceans water below. I strongly recommend a Manage Tois Sandwich if youre picnicking here because ours was excellent and maximized quality time as we didnt have to make sandwiches from scratch. San Gregorio does have the tables blocked off to prevent people from sitting at the tables to help prevent the spread of Covid19 and there are some rules put up on a sign regarding tents and other shade-making items. So, please look up the rules online if you dont want to haul your stuff over only to drag it back to your vehicle. We didnt have anything that was out of the rule book. But just a common courtesy heads up for the thise looking for a great picnic spot.

The beach is beautiful and clean BUT...Getting from the parking lot to the beach is treacherous. In one hour I saw 10 people slip and fall, skinning knees, twisting ankles and bruising bums.We saw no warning signs. Even on our way out and specifically looking for them.My 75yr old mother literally bounced and slid 15 to 20 feet down the hillside.Do not go there if you are less than spry or have a wheeled cart.

Walk up the hill to a first clearing to stand by the cliffs and admire a beautiful view of the north coastline while you enjoy the salty ocean breeze. Beautiful yet desolate and isolated beach with sweeping views and breath taking vistas of cliffs and wind swept sand. This is a great place to bring a nice warm jacket and some trusty shoes. The walk to the beach requires a mild amount of agility and willingness to walk along the edge of a slight fall before reaching the actual beach. It will usually be much cooler than the valley and the wind quite brisk but it is beautiful.

A gorgeous beach on a day of much coastal traffic congestion. The State Park ranger explained that there was no beach access due to the overfull lagoon/riverhead.
