I love reading the lowest reviews 1st before i write mind. here is a 2 star review nice. what an moron. the original 2 story, 4 room farmhouse that was built in 1795 and still stands on its original foundation. making this the oldest building in Greensboro. during 1960s and 70s the Morehead family has returned many of the original items to the house. that alone gets 10 stars from me. it also has 2 additions. the first in 1822 and the second in 1846. i really wish people knew what they are looking at before they write a stupid review. we had a young man as a tour guide and to my surprise he new the history of the farmhouse very well. we were lucky to be the only ones on the tour so he took his time and answer all our questions very well. lots of interesting facts and we spent at least two hours here. the 100 acres farmhouse was bought by Henry Humphries in 1822 for $50. humphires founded the Mt. Hecla Cotton Mill in 1818. that was converted to steam in 1826 and it was the first cotton mill powered by steam in north carolina. i hope i was helpful. this is a place i would like to turn too.
It is well kempt wind the garden is beautiful. It is like walking through a time machine.
Was a pleasant experience. I loved walking around the place.
Excellent source of period specific history! The guides have really good knowledge of not only the landmarks history but also of N. Carolina.
Wonderful tour. Very educational. Kids loved that there were things they can touch.
We went for spooky stories near Halloween and it was awesome! Well kept place, without taking away from the age of the building
As part of our NC road trip we spent the better half of a delightful afternoon touring Greensboros Blandwood Estate. Our tour guide and docent, MATT, met us at the entrance and for next hour and half (usually one-hour tour) MATT thoroughly entertained us with lively accounts and unique introductions, impressive insights, and vignettes into the main cast of characters, along with their oil portraits, personal artifacts and furnishings, which MATT did with extraordinary flair to help shaped the history of the premises. A do not miss on the Greensboro leg of our NC journey.
As part of our NC road trip we spent the better half of a delightful afternoon touring Greensboros Blandwood Estate. First time to visit the mansion and we were not disappointed. Our guide was Matt and he was terrific....very personable with a great knowledge of the mansion and the family. This tour was like a History 101 class.
My cousin wedding was very nice. Blackwood Mansion was very nice. A great place to have an event.
We had a lovely time at the Blandwood Carriage House!
Very informative tour. Interesting home for the period.
Wonderful tour and amazing history of the city and state in the story of the house and families.

Awesome tour, awesome tour guide, tons of really interesting day in the life of type history. Worth the visit.
Blandwood Mansion is a peaceful oasis in the heart of Greensboro, and it preserves a strong sense of history, both in the grounds and in the mansion itself. Our tour guide, Anderson, was very knowledgeable and informed. He made our visit a memorable one, both for the knowledge he shared about the Morehead family, and the times in which they lived. A visit to Blandwood Mansion helps one to understand not only the lives of those who lived here, but also the times in which they lived and the historical forces at work in shaping the United States, especially in the nineteenth century. And of course the extended Morehead family had a large impact on the development of Greensboro, of Guilford County, and of North Carolina that is reflected here in the building, the furnishings, and the grounds. I highly recommend a visit to Blandwood Mansion, it will make history come alive, and add to your understanding of Greensboro as it is today.
Stopped by around noon on a Friday. We rang the bell, asked for a tour from the fellow who answered and were very impressed. Adult price was $8. The tour comprehensive, custom, comfortable and captivating! The whole house has a lot of original pieces and excellent examples of period craftsmanship like plaster works and horsehair upholstery. Our tour guides were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic— Overall the visit is worth WAY more than the price, DO NOT MISS THIS ONE!
Very informative history on Gov. Morehead that most people know little about. Home has some features uniquely built in. Great place to stop in the area. Docent that showed us around was very sharp and well versed. Provided a wealth of information.
Great place to listen to music on Sunday evening.
I really enjoyed seeing this place, and hearing all about it’s history. Our tour guide was also great.
A treasured piece of NC history in the middle of modern Greensboro. The staff were very knowledgeable and told us the most fascinating stories! I look forward to attending an evening event when the setting sun shines through the West wing and is reflected off mirrors outlined in gold.
Mark provided alot of the history which was very interesting. He took alot of time describing life in the 1800. Highly recommended.
My sister and I took the tour earlier this month and it was one of the best tours weve been on! Our docent (Anderson I think?) was super accommodating and let us tag along on the end of the previous tour before taking us around to see what wed missed. So much interesting info about the Moreheads and the house (which is just a really cool building with a lot of artifacts and pictures). We appreciated the info on the enslaved and the women of the house as well as the governor, we had all our questions answered with superb knowledge and good humor, and he also put up with us taking some kind of ridiculous pictures. Awesome house, really awesome guide, definitely recommended!!
Very interesting tour, well worth the time and admission.
Great venue for any who loves history or just beautiful place to have your big day. The staff is friendly and very welcoming. Ive attended many events and had photoshoots for my business Songbirds Bridal, Formal, and Consignments there.
Beautiful venue for a wedding.
The house is SO neat how it was built and how it operated. And the tour guide we had was great too.
Excellent tour gov Morehead family history
I liked it because I like studying history. I also like aesthetics and architecture. Random a acts of beauty.
A great budget venue to rent with. However, the carriage house does need repair. The house and museum are a short but pleasant tour!
Blandwood is an awesome experience. Our guide was great. Very pleased. I encourage others to visit.
Great place for a variety of events. Always a great experience. Definitely suggest that it be on your list of places to consider when event planning.
I was the usher for a wedding here. The octagon building really worked out well. You can easily have wedding upstairs, food below, and then convert upstairs to dance floor before dinner is done. Mens and womens change/restrooms available downstairs.
Went to a wedding here, it was beautiful! Parking wasnt the best but enjoyed the wedding.
