When I was a little boy my parents would take me there to have letters from my fathers family in Austria translated for them by the schmidt sisters. They always had a plate of cookies and lemonade for me. One of my great childhood memories. 50 some years ago!

For everything you want to know about Josephine County history, the Josephine County Historical Society is the place to go. There are tours of the Schmidt House next door, a piece of history over a hundred years old, complete with furnishings of the period.
