I was impressed with their covid precautions and still making the museum very accessible. This is a great place to get a refresher on local history. I would love to see more in depth exhibits on the First Nations that occupied Michigan. I did a lot of research before coming which allowed me to appreciate some of the artifacts better. Seems very kid friendly and geared at bringing primary school groups to visit. A very decent public museum, wonderful views of downtown Grand Rapids, a great place to stop before a downtown stroll. Parking is validated and special deals for residents of Kent County!

Although I miss the charm of the old building this place is still a gem! They preserve local history and present artifacts in a thoughtful and engaging way. The new building did allow them to custom-build areas for the carousel and the famous Wurlitzer organ. Add to that a planetarium named after a local astronaut and youve got an institution that offers a lot of options!

Super clean for the virus, and with no real crowds the place is super enjoyable! The lego exhibit is unreal and definitely a must-see

This museum is great. It is inexpensive and well done. I bought the membership early this year largely to be able to use the reciprocal benefits at John Ball Zoo and other places and they discontinued that for the year without any warning. Not impressed.

This museum was a lot of fun for our whole family. It was very affordable and there was nearby parking for free. We enjoyed seeing the whale bones that hang from the ceiling. We also enjoyed seeing some of the stuff that they had at the old Grand rapids museum and on top of that some of the stuff they had from the old Civic center which as a 35-year-old I remember going to as a child. They have a really cool toy section where they look through old toys and see how toys changed over time. I would definitely recommend going to this museum.

So much to look at! Very well done and they were doing a good job of limiting people and making social distancing easy. We will have to come back when the kids are older. We were sad we missed the lego exhibit.

We went to see the bodies revealed. It was great. I hadnt been to the museum in years. See all the old displays brought back lots of memories. Would recommend for a great afternoon visit.

After attending the light show in the planetarium we enjoyed a beautiful walk around the museum grounds. Very nice affordable evening out. The light show was well done and a very different experience if you have never been. We look forward to returning with the kids during normal museum hours to see everything else the museum has to offer.

Loved the museum. Interesting things for the whole family. Especially enjoyed the native american display and the zoology display. Spent about 2 hours in there, but could have spent all day in the museum.

An absolutely wonderful time with the kids. Such awesome set-up, with lots of hands on stuff for the kids to do. Ive been to other science museums that seem to have more hands on things for the kids but this seemed like a mix of science and history museum. Overall we all had a great time.One word of advice, if you can avoid going when a school is there, youll be glad you did. It seems as though they use it as more of a babysitter for rambunctious kids than a learning experience for them. They were all over the place. Definitely not enjoyable at least when the last school was there. Hope this helps you. Youll be done in about 2-3 hours with kids. Youll have fun here for sure though!

Awesome museum. Highly recommend. Fairly priced admission and parking. I loved the toy exhibit and there’s even an interactive display where you can put in 25 cents to see this old timey player piano play (forgot the name of it). Didn’t get to experience the traveling exhibition which was Bodies but I’m sure it was great.Fun for the whole family.

We went to the Public Museum on a Sunday while visiting Grand Rapids. We were unfamiliar with both the town and the museum, so we kind of went on a whim. It was very enjoyable because they have such a wide variety of exhibits and artifacts there. We particularly enjoyed the Toys exhibit, and we did check out Bodies. This was a great way to be entertained for a few hours. The gift shop has some great treasures to check out as well. Overall, a good time!

Wonderful museum, great for families and kid friendly. This is also a delightful venue to hold any type of event. I enjoy their changing exhibits and being reminded of some of their old ones. The location is great but the parking can be a bit tricky. It costs to park across the street in their parking garage. Convenient to other locations and popular spots in Grand Rapids downtown area.

The Grand Rapids Public Museum offers plenty of detailed and educational exhibits to appease virtually any visitor. The entire museum is well laid out with an incredible amount of detail placed into each area of the building. For the price, I highly recommend stopping by.

Its the Best museum in the city. The places offers a lot of variety and fun for all ages! Even the kids stuff (like the arcade) is fun for adults. I was surprised how much they fit into the small building. Great pieces of history are preserved here and its perfect for the general public

It is a small but fun place to visit. We enjoyed seeing the bodies in motion exhibit.

Nicely laid out on three floors. Parking and admission do not remind you of the good old days. Interesting.

This was a great museum! We took 2 small children and a teen, and they all had fun. So did us adults! The toy exhibit and 80s/90s style arcade with playable games they have up are particularly great. We spent too long on that one. The big windows overlooking the river are also a great feature, so pretty with lots of natural light. We spent about 3 hours there, and left exhausted, but still hasnt seen it all. So theres a lot to see! Great family outing.

The Bodies Revealed exhibit was outstanding. Real human bodies exposed so you can see their musculature and tendons and various organs.

Went to the dinosaur exhibit! Amazing. Automatronic and a little loud but the experience was awesome. We love the grand rapids museum. I included some pictures to really let you see just a small part of it. Its 3 floors and a small gift shop. Call for pricing. Sometimes they have some great deals!

The Better Business Bureau hosted the 49th Annual Assembly here and it was fun for everyone and I admit I thought it was more for everyone else. Turned out to be a blast and cant wait to return when we have more time to see and experience everything. I felt all my ages from being a kid to a teen to a young adult and whatever that is that comes after. If you are even reading this far just go ahead and visit it.

Been years since I had been there. Some exhibits were closed because Covid 19. Would still recommend. The Bodies exhibit was awesome.

A must see place on hand rapids. From the giant fin whale to mummies they have all the old stuff worth seeing! Joking aside its a lovely way to spend an afternoon and you wont even realize your learning something along the way! Wont regret it

Really nice museum with wonderfully large an intimate spaces. They cover a lot of information from wildlife to toys to native American information and art. Ill definitely come back!

Very fun. Lots to do. Youll need more than a few hours to experience everything. We saw the planetarium show Under Frozen Skies which is pretty neat if youre interested in the constellations. Next time wed like to see the Earths Habitat one. Lots to see and do for all ages.

I really enjoyed my experience at Grand Rapids Public Museum. It offers many interesting collections and exhibits that feature history and natural history. Its not too large so that you cant see it all in one day but not too small either. Very educational for kids and adults alike. Id highly recommend this museum to people of all ages and interests.

This was our second visit to this museum and we went to the bodies revealed exhibit which was short of creepy cool as my wife says. The museum has dozens of other free exhibits and you could easily spend the whole day here and not see everything. It is also kids friendly with lots of activities for them to their minds occupied.

What a beautiful museum! I loved taking my nephew for the dinosaur exhibit! I love how much Michigan history/wild life they have on display, with interactive learning for the kids, and adults. Their changing exhibits are a lot of fun. They also have free days, so look into that if you’re just wanting to check it out!

Awesome place to take the family, go for a date, or even just explore on your own. There is so much to do and see here that you will undoubtedly miss more than half of the things to see and do there even if youre there all day long. I took my son there for a day and ever since hes been asking daily when we can go back to see more of the museum.

This museum is super cool and really affordable, especially for the size - there’s so much to do! Engaging and interactive as well as incredibly informative, if you have a free morning/afternoon in Grand Rapids, this a really fun way to spend it. Also really family friendly if you have kids.

Had a great time at the museum with my family. Lots to do and see. The only drawback was that the parking structure was full so we had to park across the river and walk. This is usually no big deal but have a 6 year old and a 9 month old didnt make it easy. Either way we had a great time at the museum, and I highly recommend it

We had such a great time. Loved the variety that this museum had to offer. The layout and setup of the exhibits is spectacular. The Toys Exhibit and the Dinosaur Exhibit were both a ton of fun for the whole family. The Carosuel ride was a nice added bonus for our little one too! This place did not disappoint!

Easy to navigate three floor museum with a grab bag of displays, which is odd for a city museum. Most of the exhibit rooms are in need of a remodel but the spacious galleria when you walk in keeps the crowds under control. The museum does a good job in inviting outside exhibits and keeping a strong focus on interaction for learning.Tip: Dont miss out on the 1928 carousel.

Great place for the family!!

I really enjoy this place. They make young people have fun and learn at the same time. As an adult it is neat to see the things you had when you were growing up. Also its a great way to get my daily walk in.

Really impressed. The museum is set in a great spot with a view of downtown and the grand river. It had lots of fun content for both children and adults, so it kept us all engaged. Material was relevant to Grand Rapids history and the larger context. Will be returning!

We had a lot of fun for what we paid. It was nostalgic that some exhibits have not changed since I was a little girl. The dinosaurs were fun, the kids enjoyed that they could make them move. We really enjoyed the toy exhibit. We ended up going out and buying slinkys on our way home.

We had such a great time roaming through the old town and seeing the inside of the golden body (special exhibit, and my 5 yeat old was bored). Really liked the animals and the machines!

The exhibits were detailed and informative. The flow of the museum was luring for curious minds. The doll room was fun and interactive. The hands on displays were interspersed throughout. I am looking forward to visiting again in the future.

We took our daughter who just turned six and she loved the place. I enjoyed the fact that one can purchase tickets for the museum and the events all from a smartphone without waiting in line. We went on a Saturday and the museum had a lot of folks there however the spaces such as halls and stairs are wide, we never felt cramped or overwhelmed by the crowd. Definitely recommend the Grand Rapids Museum, theres something for everyone and the prices are very fair

So much fun here! Spent hours here with my 3 kids and had a blast! Toy area is awesome! Only downside is read that the parking caps out at $5, but we were charged $10 ️ bad end to an otherwise great experience!

I appreciated the old time town and toys, but wasnt able to look at everything because it was closing. I also appreciated the curious shop.

Was surprised how much there is to see and do in this museum! Went there specifically to see the Bodies Revealed exhibit and it didnt disappoint!!! One thing I wish I would have known prior was that had we went the day before we could have held some organs. We didnt have a ton of time to look at other things after the exhibit but what we did see was great and we will definitely be making a return trip just to see the regular museum.

Ive always been a huge fan of our great public museum. The history of toys exhibit was great. I really enjoyed the bodies exhibit -so fascinating. My teen boys got grossed so we could only see half of it. Oh well.

I havent been to the museum since it moved, and if anything at all, its even better in the new location. LOVED the show in the planetarium about the sun, and all the historical exhibits are even better than I remembered!

Really great place, is a must to see from grand rapids!

We purchased a membership which essentially pays for itself after two visits. Our kids are 5 and loved it! Theyll likely appreciate it in different ways as they get older. There is plenty of variety in terms of what to see and do here. Highlights of our visit (in March) were the whale exhibit, the carousel, and the fireflies/glowing nature exhibit.

Magnificent learning experience and great areas of history.

Always worth visiting the planetarium! The main exhibits are mainly about Grand Rapids and Michigan. The dragons, unicorns, and mermaids exhibit was really interesting. Their carousel is always a fun stop too!

Amazingly great, filled with amazingly hirtorical artifacts from around the world, today they had dances from many countries and even native american dances. We thoroughly enjoyed our day!

Its been a while since I have been to the museum but its even better than before! It has a lot more kid friendly areas, the planetarium is great, and I love that they have certain things that they have come and go so theres always something new to look it. Just saw Bodies Revealed which was amazing!

I was delighted to see some new exhibits when bringing my nephew here for his birthday! The video game designing one was really cool, but also showed him that its a lot harder to design a video game than he imagined. We loved playing the giant Yahtzee. He liked looking at the money and weapons. We bought matching astronaut keychains and astronaut ice cream on the way out!

A fantastic museum with unique displays to be enjoyed by all ages. It’s a museum that appears to be specifically designed for families—at the very least it’s kid friendly. Why not a 5 star? Male bathrooms do not have diaper changing facilities. Get with the times already GR.

Went on a class field trip and feel it was unorganized chaos. I myself am used to that but would not prefer it.
