This place is great for a quick hike to see the Lake. I have watched many sunsets here, and its always beautiful. The only downfall is that it is not very handicap or wheelchair accessible, but I feel that is hard to find with our dune areas.Otherwise, this is a great place to catch up with friends, enjoy a sunset, and climb some stairs.

Very well kept up. Beautiful views of Lake Michigan just off US 31. There’s lots of walking you can do as well. Great place to hike and get to the beach.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this place!!! It is a very long up and down walk to the beach but it truly is breathtaking, it is worth every step. There was more to do but we got there a little late for everything. You should be ready though, when they say rustic restrooms, they mean it.

Visiting for the weekend and decided to take an evening walk. Very nicely maintained. If youre looking to go to the beach, its a bit of a hike up and down hill to get there, but worth every step.

This is a beautiful area. There is limited parking but if you can get a spot it is so worth it. Great trails that are easy enough for inexperienced hikers or people with small children. Parts of the trail have a lot of stairs, but plenty of benches to stop and take a rest with beautiful views along the way. The trail down to the beach is less than a mile. The whole area is incredibly well maintained.

Locals use Rosy Mound to check cardiac fitness and get great vistas of the lake from atop the dunes. Footing is bad in winter, mosquito spray needed at times but this is a wonderful facility. In season admission or park sticker required, none for out of season.

Beautiful Scenic area. $8 cover charge to get into the park the well worth the stay. This is a spot to bring your children to. Stairs to help climb out to the beach on Lake Michigan. Not for the littlest of children but maybe seven or eight and up

Love everything about this hike. There is a definite opportunity to strengthen your legs on the many stairs. Great views providing a splash in Lake Michigan to cool off. It was frigid this week! Take your time and enjoy the beauty! I parked down the street at the school ~ and walked. Nice bathrooms, great signage and well maintained trails.

Very lovely park to hike. You climb the dune, up stairs, to a small beach. Several nice paths to explore. The trails are probably 1.5 miles in total, but .7 to reach the beach. 8.00 parking (2019), good for all day. Filtered water and restrooms available.

Rosy Mound Natural Area is one of the best out door places to go to. Whether youre with friends or family, it can entertain all age groups. Not the place to go if you are looking to do actual trail hiking or dune hiking. You are restricted to walk on certain paths and are not aloud to climb the actual dunes. All the pathways man made. The views here are amazing. The beach is at the end of the trails and was in great shape. Very nice bathrooms in the parking lot, as well as a more primitive bathroom near the beach. You do have to pay for parking, but once you start walking youll understand why. It is a very well maintained Natural Area.

What a delightful place. If you love hiking & chillin’ at the beach while you watch the sun go down...this is the place to do it. Clean restrooms off the generously sized parking lot. Well maintained trail of hard-packed gravel. wildflowers galore on the hike (stairs galore, too, so get ready!), and plenty of trails once you get to the top of the sand dune & head down towards the water.

A wonderful park if you want to get away from the crowds at Grand Haven State Park. With less than a mile hike/walk from parking lot to beach, it takes you through some gorgeous dunes on your way to the water. It is not handicap accessible as there are several stairs along the trails. Great trails in a wonderful natural area.

Rosy Mound is the perfect short distance hike that leads into a secluded beach. People in the area know about it but it’s very rarely full of people. This is a perfect spot for a date or a short getaway to watch the sunset. The trail is well kept and photogenic from start to finish. Highly recommended!

I enjoy Rosy Mound from the lake side. We often anchor here because the beach doesnt have a lot of traffic like the public beach and the water seems to be cleaner than the beach. Right now, because of the erosion from the high water, the dunes are steep

Such a pretty place! Its a great short, easy hike in the spring/summer, but I visited during December after a huge snowfall and it was BEAUTIFUL. The snow on the trees looked amazing, and this place was a great place to fully see nature during the winter. Aside from the trees, theres also beach access (well... we had to climb down some dunes to get to the beach) but even if you dont go all the way down to the end, its still a great view of Lake Michigan!
