Its a little too populated, but being just about 30 minutes from central Denver, what can you expect? Parking is never too bad, but youll find yourself driving up the road a bit if you get there after about 8am. I would recommend flipping a U and parking at the front of the line on the way down to the trailhead. The hike is wonderful, just absolutely wonderful. The whole loop is around 5 or 6 miles I believe. If you want a challenge, start Beaver Brook and loop back on Chavez. If you want to take it easier, reverse that. Chavez runs up or down the side of the canyon and theres about 1000ft elevation difference. Also, be aware that Chavez has some rocky, clambering cliff side terrain. Some amazing geology for sure. The creek spends some length cutting through bedrock and its just so amazing. If you hike this trail loop, have a great time! Dont litter, and pack out your pups poo!

When I arrived around 9AM, the parking lot was full but there was plenty of close street parking. I did the loop and while the views were about the same, they were still pleasant. Trail goes down first and then back up, but it wasnt too bad. Signage was pretty clear. Took me about 1.5 hours to complete the loop.

Nice, easy hike. Took a 2, 5, 9 & 12 year old without problems. We heard there was a lake but we didnt make it there. The wild raspberries were the highlight of the hike. Keep your eyes open for large patches of them all along Beaver Brook trail. Hoping to see a little more scenery but still a decent hike.

This trail is not for the weak. The first half of the trail goes downhill till the creek, which is seriously refreshing after using up all the water we drank. But the climb up took 2x longer because a lot were narrow passages or boulders 2 feet high in spots. The whole thing took over 4 hours, partially cause we had to stop and rest a lot. Its beautiful and we saw some tiny squirrels while we passed.

A good hiking trail, with a decent elevation change over the course of 6-7 miles. 80 percent of the trail is singletrack with beginner technical sections. The remaining 10 percent has some intermediate technical sections. The trail is a loop, which starts with a descent on the main trailhead section off the rangers cabin. The trail is littered with dense coniferous trees and the best months to hike are mid April through October, looking out for weather conditions prior. This trail is for HIKERS only, no bikes allowed, there is a separate trail running for bikes which is a paved one.

Fun trail loop trail that has alot of interesting features to check out. The brook is raging and was enjoyable to hike by. If you are looking for views tho this is a shaded trail with little to no views.Would definitly do this again.

Love this trail, so many types of microenvironments encountered along this trail. At a little over 5 miles and 1100 ft elevation change I would not recommend this trail to people with poor cardiovascular/pulmonary fitness.

This is a great hike about 5.5 miles and a little challenging. Great views at the top and a creek at the bottom of the trail.

Good hike, somewhat rugged but well designed trail, lots of time spent by the shady brook, cute trout in the brook, good bird watching, and a hard hike back but worth it. Two pit toilets, no water, handicap parking, free parking, and no bikes.

The trail is nice and all but the trail has a few confusing parts where you gotta guess where you go. The worst was when we were on Chavez headed back to the trail head but then at some point we hit an intersection that says Braille trail left and Braille trail right, no signs talking about how to get back to the trail head or parking lot. So we guessed left and luckily it lead us back, but the earlier signs that only mention Beaver Brook & Chavez never mentioned Braille trail. We freaked out a bit because it was getting dark and we thought we missed some turn.

One of our favorite hikes close to Denver. Lots of shade and several river crossings. A good workout too.

It was an amazing view... The hike was about 5 miles but worth it. I would definitely be up to hiking this trail again. It was well kept into the trail but though at the beginning you saw allot of doggie bags that people just left. The bathrooms though need a better upkeep. Without those issues it was a very nice experience.

We did the Chavez Trail loop which is part of the Beaver Brook Trail system. Trust the sign when it says rough, rocky and steep terrain. They arent kidding! Really nice hike but it is pretty rough in places. Beautiful pools at the bottom of the valley, great for a couple of hot dogs.

Great day hike location and trail. Plenty of shade and cool stream sights. Advise to get an early start as it gets packed later in the morning. Highly recommended for the novice hiker.

Gorgeous trails! The approach road is a little washboardy, but my Honda Fit handles it fine. Plenty of parking, bathrooms at trailhead. The loop takes about two hours and is wonderfully up and down the whole way!*Edit: There are lots of folks on the trails lately. If you are from out of town, this loop wont be the best for you. It is deceptively downhill for the first half, which creates a situation where people over estimate their abilities because gravity is helping. Then they find themselves at the bottom and the steep climb and lack of air hits them. We passed a lot of miserable people who were low on water and far from finishing!

5.2 Mile loop trail. When you pull off the highway be ready for a bumpy ride to the parking lot. It was a good mix or terrains, degrees of grades, and types of views. I would definitely say it is a moderate hike and many places had me out of breath. Some thin ledges along the trail so be careful with kids.

If you love Rocky terrain with steep drop-offs, you will love this trail. Many great pictures along the way. Its also great for dogs they just have to be leashed. I always pack a picnic and make a day of it.

Dont let the innocent name Beaver Brook fool you, this is a tough hike! There are rock scrambles and in a few places its tricky to see where the trail continues. Its a 5 mile loop and we went through all our water (four large bottles) by the end. Study the map before you go, we felt lost when we were suddenly on Braille Trail, which is a small loop toward the end of Chavez trail.
