My boyfriend and I went here during the winter and I think we were the only ones there. It was really cool and great tribute to Buffalo Bill!Watching the video at the beginning of the museum will help you understand more about the overall property and how it came to be his resting place. The museum is like $10 a person. Great place for kids too as there were hands on things - a few things were missing but overall great place! The grave site is outside and a little walks away, don’t miss it! The gift shop is huge and the food they sell smelled really good!

Definitely a fun place for both adults and kids! The views are amazing, even with bad weather, and the museum & cafe are cool experiences! The museum has a TON of artifacts and does a good job of keeping people interested. There’s also a small area for kids that has dress up items, a pretend horse, a calf, and everything they’ll need to practice their lassoing. The attendants were very knowledgeable and even more kind! It’s a member of the Blue Star Program, so military families get in for free! The attached cafe is a lot of fun within itself. They have foods like fries, burgers, and coffee, and there’s ice cream & root beer floats for dessert. There are a handful of tables, but it never seems to be a problem finding a seat. It’s attached to the gift shop, so it’s pretty busy.

Buffalo Bill was a man ahead of his time! He enjoyed showing off the diverse cultures and skills of the wild west. He provided equal pay for minorities and women years before the rest of society tried to do the same!

Well worth the time to go through the museum and read the history in the displays. Cody could be a great example for us today.

I had always thought Buffalo Bill was a gunslinger, like the other Bills of the late 19th century: Wild Bill and Billy the Kid. This straightened me out. I think we spent $12 for entry for a family of four. There were 4-5 rooms packed with history about the legacy of Buffalo Bill. A travel ledger even proved that his show visited my hometown of Cadillac, Michigan during WWI! We were here for an hour and half, and my family most enjoyed the presentation of the quibble over where the body of Buffalo Bill should be kept, and why the citizens of Cody, WY were ready to pay a ransom to have his remain re-located there. I am now inspired to bring the fam to Cody, WY to the Buffalo Bill Center of the West.

This is a really neat museum which offers a very thorough look at one of Americas iconic legends. It covers literally his entire life right up to his death and burial. It also has the gravesite for Buffalo Bill and his wife. Lookout Mountain has spectacular views of Golden and even Denver in the distance. If you enjoy learning about the old west and one of Americas heroic figures this is a good place to visit.

The gift shop here is really nice and so are the views from the top of the mountain. You can see all of Golden from here but the best part about this place is the fudge and the hot chocolate. This is easily the best fudge and hot chocolate that I have ever had. The drive to the top of this mountain is worth it for the fudge alone, as it is all house-made. Keep up the good work, as the quality in the food and drinks were phenomenal. This place is definitely a strong recommendation from me.

We plan a stop for a buffalo burger, buffalo hot dog, buffalo chili, well you get the idea. Love the food and if you want a nice piece of jewelry, I suggest this place for sterling and stones. There is a Zoltar machine that works, its so cool!!!!! Everything about this place is a dream, for views, shopping, the site itself, with the respect to the great showman BBC was in life. I think he would like it all up there on Lookout Mountain!

Oh man, this place is absolutely awesome. The two times I have been there, there were plenty of people but it wasn’t overrun with tourists taking selfies. Buffalo Bill’s story is incredible and this museum has an abundant inventory of authentic historic memorabilia from his life. The museum does a great job of telling the story of his life’s passages. Be sure to see the movie loop. There is actual film showing him and other performers in the show. Also, be sure to try some of the fresh home-made fudge!

Visited on a sunny spring Sunday, parking lot not too busy at 10am, but was crowded by 11am. The drive up Lookout Mountain Rd from Golden is beautiful, but dangerous with too many bicyclists trying to ride uphill and you cant pass them on the many blind corners. The views are spectacular, the museum is small but lots of interesting items personal to the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show like costumes and rifles. Takes about 20 mins. The gift shop in the bldg next door has typical tchotchkes with Colorado logos, and counter to order a grilled cheese sandwich or hamburger kind of stuff, plus ice cream and fudge. If you can go visit on a weekday when theres fewer hikers and bikers out, that would work out better.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much information I learned at the museum. The admission fee was only $5 per adult. The artifacts/memorabilia that they have is so special. I seriously cant believe how much of Buffalo Bills personal items were here. His grave is peaceful, and everyone had time to go up individually to pay their respects or take photos. They have a cool little place to get Haute Chocolate. We had a great time.

I could not believe how much history there was in such a moderately sized museum. The vista was stunning as well and the site of the grave perfect for such an historical figure. I also was happy that my misinformed past, believing he killed buffalo by the millions, has been corrected. William Cody was a true American pioneer and protector of buffalo, the environment and our great Indian brethren. May he rest in peace forever.
