Cool tourist spot. I went there around 11pm and there were still quite a bit people. It can be hard to get pictures without strangers in the background. Try to get creative and you may end up with some artistic shots.

Few places deserve a 5 star. Only for the extreme blow your mind experiences. What a nutcase. Worth the effort arrange for a tour. Even Huell Howser was speachless. Ask for Richard, Michaels buddy.

From 1968 to 1972 my Aunt lived around the corner from this place. As a child I used to walk through the gates and explore it. I was very fond of the bottle house, as I called it, and the water tower. I also loved the rock walls and the big beams that were used in the construction. To this day its one of my fantasy homes and the type of home I could easily live in and feel perfectly at home in. They never ran me out or gave me any problems. Nice folks.

An eclectic home. Built by Mr. Rubel with help from friends and family. Most items (if not all) were donated or considered garbage. An example of one persons trash is someone elses treasure. Very interesting. Uneven walkways so be careful. You have to make reservations since they only allow a limited number of people and only open a few days in the month. Well worth the trip.

Its a house/museum living at the top of the road. It has been made with tires, rocks and everything known to man. It gives tours only to groups and is not for the faint of heart. No railings or walkers, not wheel chair accessible. Lots of uneven roads.

Rubel’s Castle is a magical and completely unexpected castle created from river rock and found objects over the course of a few decades, beginning in 1968. It was the brain child of Michael Rubel, a Glendora resident who had fallen in love with the citrus farm as a child and purchased the property in 1959.The Castle has a rich and whimsical history snd was a project that brought many neighbors and members of the community to expand the boundaries of imagination into the tangible.Huell Howser did two pieces on the place which can be found on YouTube. It was donated to the Glendora Historical Society and can be toured by contacting them. It is also available for rental for a variety of needs.
