Pretty cool place to visit. It was fun imagining all the troops that were posted here. I bet it was a beautiful spot. Theres some giant oak trees there that were likely standing when the troops were
Nice place to walk around and check out all the tombstones. Cool little piece of history.
Learning the history of our nation is essential so we dont repeat it. This fort is high on the hill, easily defendable. The surrounding area is now a cemetery. We looked down on the tombstones from the remains of the fort. How fitting
On top of the hill great spot to have a picnic the history and surrounding cemetery were kool
Nice place for a nice relaxing place. You could probably bring a lawn chair and relax and read a book
Interesting place to see, but right in the middle of a cemetery. So can be very awkward if your driving to the entrance and a funeral service is being done.
As civil war forts go, this is one of the best restored landmarks. It even has a canon that’s not been welded closed. The surrounding slopes are now the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. This entire area covered with modern and ancient monuments and provides a peaceful backdrop to consider all the men and boys who struggled and died during the war of the rebellion.
Beautiful place and peacefull
Its our history. Teachings today are trying to erase our true history. I recommend anyone who wants to know how we came to be where we are now, the truth to visit all local historical sights. And very entertaining for those with children or couples out for just a leisurely day.
Very intact civil war fort. Serves as a center piece for a very large cemetery. No public facilities. Several historical markers and an old 6 pdr cannon. A fun way for civil war buffs to spend a little time. The markers actually lay out a rather remarkable history.
Cematry ....very nice
Fort Williams is a nice quiet place with several historical markers telling about the Civil War fort. There is a canon you can look at, and it gives a good view of the city of Glasgow. It is joined with Glasgow Municipal Cemetery with graves dating back into the 1800s
It was good
Very cool history, definitely worth a visit
How do you rate a cemetery? But seriously, great view from the top, not a huge fort, but worth a little stop if you’re in the area.
Beautiful views of much of the city of Glasgow from the fort on the hill. I could really see why this site was chosen for a fort, it would be easier to defend the surrounding area. Quiet, peaceful, would be a wonderful place for a picnic (if there were picnic tables, guess we could always throw down a quilt!). Interesting to view some of the old memorial stones in the adjacent city cemetery also. A nice place for an afternoon visit.
A must see. Very beautiful
This is a great place to visit if you enjoy history and old cemeteries. The scenery was beautiful and relaxing. My husband and I walked around parts of the cemetery and saw headstones as old as the 1700s.
Cool history. Needs a little work. Interpretive signs were dirty and hard to read.
Actually went to the nearby cemetary but grounds are well maintained.
Information boards could use refurbishment, but otherwise a peaceful place of contemplation to learn about a Civil War battlefield.
We were looking for something to do well my tire got replaced. This is a great place with a great veiw and some great historical significance.
Relaxing place
Very cool. Loved the cemetery most and seeing a grave dated before we had our first President and the Constitution.
A great place to learn a little history
A prime example if civil war earth works. Like most forts being built on prime ground, there are great views of the cemetery and surrounding grounds.
Great piece of history!
Its falling a part not being kept up like it should be
The History is amazing!
