Loved it. Its funny when you have friends to go with. Its a beautiful place. I would love to go there more often. But sadly Im about to work full time. But Ill still always try to make time for high rocks because its so calming.

My 13yo and I had a blast jumping off the rocks here. There are many large rocks along the bank with deep waters below, and varying heights from just a few feet to maybe 40 or 50 feet. I can see how drunk teenagers (there were several there) and weak swimmers could potentially hurt themselves or die. But, for those who adhere to some semblance of safety, it seems like a fairly safe and fun adventure. Make sure you see deep dark water below before you jump. I would also highly recommend you dont attempt diving hands/face first like Ive seen a few people do. A broken ankle is much better than a broken neck. There are undertow warnings posted, and other reviews have mentioned a strong current. Honestly, it did not seem that strong to me, at least along the stretch of river where people swim. I did not see a single person struggling against the current. Im giving it 5 stars, despite a fair amount of trash and graffiti and rowdy teenagers with no sense of social distancing. The trash is mostly beer cans and left behind shirts, towels, etc. At least you dont have to worry about stepping on used needles like many of the parks in the city.

Perfectly accessible place to swim! Plenty of nearby parking, especially at Safeway. I was definitely glad to have my tevas when navigating all the rocks, so plan to protect your feet! cold, clear water perfect for jumping off rocks and floating down stream. It was definitely crowded but we managed to find plenty of space to spread out.

The current is strong and the rocks are slippery. Kids should stay close to shore with a strong swimmer watching. If your feet arent touching the ground you will need to go to the shore to get back to your original location. Watch out for fishing hooks as fishermen get a lot of snags in the rocks. As long as you are okay with those issues it is a fun place to go.

Great swimming rock jumping and people watching.Trails on both sides of the river are nice use caution on the S. side of the river trail due to numerous camps under the 205 bridge.

Great space today it was easy to remain distant from others, I can see how in the heat of the summer that would be more challenging. Great current, nice wide rocks for resting. Overpass was distracting, but for a first dip of the season, so great. And theres amenities (didnt use). I would return.

Great place to spend a hot day. But you better be a good swimmer because there is a current and the water is very deep. There is no lifeguards on duty. Also if you bring it pack it out.

Great place to cool off. Several places to jump off ricms safely and jump into the water. Enough space to social distance if its not too jam packed. The walk down for some might be hard but its a pretty easy trail to get to the water.

Nice area to swim. First visit was 1967. Caution!!! Ive seen several people lose their lives at High Rocks. The last being a 9yr old boy. Please use a life vest if your not a strong swimmer. Even on the hottest summer days, the water is still very cold.A.M.R. keeps eyes on the area, and I believe they will also provide a life vest if asked. They also have information as far as water temp, currents etc.. Growing up I never used a life jacket, because I was a strong swimmer. If I go swimming now days, because of my age, I would use a life vest. Not the swimmer I used to be.Please use caution, and common sense when swimming at High Rocks.

The sheer volume of rocks is dramatic & starkly beautiful, set beside the rushing river & the metal bridge overhead. However, to reach the edge & be able to jump into the water, you have to side-step & clamber over jagged slabs of rock. This activity isnt for the disabled, small children, intoxicated people, or the clumsy. The reward of cool refreshing water to swim in on a hot day is worth the scramble.

You gotta be willing to have fun to enjoy the crowd thats typical there but if thats the case then its a great place to spend a summer day. Just dont decide after you finish your half rack of beer to go for a double flip off the top rocks. Well unless the lifeguard is there then go for it but be prepared to hear ohhhh being screamed by 100+ drunk young people

Park on the Street in front of the entrance and get there earlier for better parking. Great experience for all of the family. The lifeguards were friendly and offered our little ones a free life jacket. We had a hard time figuring out where to park when we looked up directions on google, but once we were there, we found plenty of parking on the street near the entrance.

The water’s cold, but it was perfect for the 100 degree weather we had a week or so ago! Cliff jumping was a lot of fun! It was reassuring to have a couple of life guards around! We left our towels and clothes and glasses and such mostly unattended and it was okay for us. If no one is sticking back with towels and such, I wouldn’t recommend leaving more valuable items out, as there is no secure place to keep things.

KN
Review №57

Very cool spot to explore. yes people have drowned here, but it is not really any more dangerous than any other spot. my guess is the fact that so many come here increases the probability that someone will have an issue, probably someone who doesnt know how to swim very well and panics after jumping and sinking deeper than they expected or drugs/alcohol involved. Understand that the lifeguards are employed by a non governmental agency and therefore have no authority other than to save someone having an issue. parents, dont expect a place where you can bring your kids and stop paying attention because the lifeguards are not that type of whistle blowing pool police. water is a river so it is colder than lakes but warms up enough to be comfortable in the hot summer. cliffs range from water level to about 22 feet. there are enough locals to tell you where it is safe to jump. the bathroom is usually locked but there are some businesses within a 5 minute walk. no other amenities (not even lawn) so bring something comfortable to sit on like a blanket or chairs because the rocks are hard and hot. would be nirvana if the freeway noise wasnt 100yds away.

Really awesome place but be careful. My friend jumped in and broke his neck and i had to drag him out the ambulance got him hes totally fine now. But if youre going to jump from a rock make sure other ppl r already doing so successfully, dont go head first, and dont dive into shallow waters

Great place for swimming and jumping into water, but, in my opinion, only for experienced swimmers. There is a current, and its not very easy to get in or out of the water, those rocks are beautiful, but also hard :) I would recomment to bring swim shoes with you. Located next to a highway it has always some noize pollution, thats the main downside of the place, but other than that I personally enjoyed it.

Beautiful example of Sasquatch Architecture. Like most Sasquatch Architecture, High Rocks Park keeps the rocks up high, so that the famously tall sasquatch do not hit their heads on the rocks.Unfortunately, since the sasquatch left, nude swimming is no longer allowed, but topless is.
