Me and my friend showed up and went in to go play basketball. We were then told after about 5 to 10 minutes we were told that we couldn’t play basketball even though we brought our own ball and everything, not bothering anyone and only playing half court. And to put the cherry on top they wouldn’t even give us our money back. I wish they would have said something to us at the desk before we paid when they saw our basketball shoes and ball.

Amazingly great family workout place. The kids love the rock wall and my wife and I can work out upstairs while they climb. Its great and affordable.

The weight are is a bit on the small side but its great for families as it offers the cheapest option(s) if you have children. So much to do. I would give 5 stars if they had a pool.

I’ve been coming to Freestone Rec Center for years. Complete with a walking jogging running track indoors makes for a safe, climate controlled run. Great during the hot months. This place is equipped with racquetball courts, two separate weight room’s, basketball and climbing wall. Complete locker rooms showers steam sauna makes this place great for a pre-work day workout hit the showers and off you go. Definitely worth the time.

Friendly, helpful staff. Wonderful, caring fitness instructors, with a great variety of classes. Good variety of workout equipment, and elevated walking track in a pleasant atmosphere. My sister, from Delaware, gives it a 5-star rating. She loves going over there.

I enjoy being part of this gym! The indoor track is small but very useful on really hot days. The spin bikes upstairs are now upgraded and in great working order! I wish they had more classes available and there was a pool, but this gym suits my purposes and Im glad to be part of it!

Great gym. Trainers are amazing and help in anyway they can. You can go in and just work out or you can get some help getting into shape.

Good gym for Pickleball spoilt by dim and patchy lighting. Once this is fixed itll be a great space.

They dont have a lot of equipment but the ambience and cost has to means a lot! Clean and friendly with very low costs!My daughter has been attending Ms. Jens tumbling classes for almost 2 years and they sure make the best out of what they have!!! Its about $42 every 2 months and my daughter has learned and had a blast doing it!! Yes, its true that her last gymnastics place had a lot of fun equipment but that was at a cost of over $200 every 2 months.Thank you Ms. Jen and thank you Gilbert Parks and Rec!

Great place to park and bike on the Maricopa Trail going north, west or south.

For the price, you are getting quite a bit! As far as equipment, I have mostly what I need, there is a running track, as well as lots of other cool accommodations. It would be great to have a bathroom upstairs. Its actually kind of strange that they dont have one.

Great place to work out at and a very positive environment as well

Good place for any activity minded individuals and or family. They are spacious and well equipped. My wife found them and joined immediately, I am going on a free guest pass for four visits. They are warm and welcoming making each visit easy and pleasant.

For the price this place is amazing! We spend about 1.5 hours each time and there is plenty to do. Rock climbing, racketball, exercise and pool. Basketball and a track. A great place for exercise and family fun...

I love this place. In fact, I drive 25 miles one way just to enjoy playing racketball here with my wife and sometimes another couple. Reserve your court a head of time to make sure you get a court. If you like rock climbing you do this while your here. Other fun things we like is ping pong, pool table, and fooseball.

Low-ish fees of $6 for non-Mesa resident. No tourist discounts...Indoor courts are very fun.Small weights area with mostly machines. Only one deadlift/squat rack.Awesome track around the 2nd floor.Would give higher if the Freestone outdoor parks were closer, or if the weights area were larger and had more free weights.If youre looking for cardio, classes, and a rock wall for the kids - this is your place.In this attached picture, you can see the running track above the gym. Very cool.

Climbing wall was a lot of fun. The staff was helpful and informative. Racquetball courts can be reserved and times scheduled. Lots of fun!

What an awesome facility! This is almost a brand new state-of-the-art facility for recreation and fun. It really stimulates your desire to get fit. Located off of Guadalupe and Gilbert Road this facility has everything to inspire you theres a beautiful walk Jog and run path around the upstairs of the facility where you can see outside its just so beautiful. I have never seen a City Recreation Center so nice. We play Pickleball there they also have basketball courts a workout area Fizz ball pool tables. You name it they got it. The staff is friendly and everything is just super duper

I am going through the process of regaining custody of my children. I have visits 2 days a week at the moment and I sometimes use the rec center to facilitate said visits. The people there have been so kind and understanding of my situation and have even given me free admission. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great family experience. I feel so welcome when Im there and so do my children

I thought this place is a good recreation place to play with your toddler while waiting for daddy in the gym. there are chairs in the lobby but thats it.. If you have young ones they are not allowed upstairs or anywhere unless you pay 3$ for childcare which is not bad but I just didnt like leaving my toddler to a busy lady at their childcare area. other kids where muchhhhh older! . I hope they will have a place downstairs for mommy and baby too! like an indoor gym where parents can interact with baby while dad is using the gym. Anyways.. it’s good for family with older kids .. but i just dont like this place because the workers are a little rude and loud.. esp. the guy at the Kids area.. I didnt know about the rules 5-8 years old but i got in with my toddler to play. He just told me to leave because its for a certain age. He could have told me nicer.. you know like good customer service.

Great facilities (not extensive, but really good at what it is), great classes ranging from exercise to baby classes to preschool (especially love childrens classes here-Ms Debra is AMAZING!). Great staff. Clean. Child care option, climbing wall (6 and up, limited hrs), sauna, locker room with showers. Star off because a) membership prices are higher compared to more conventional gym choices nearby, and b) parking sucks. Plenty of spaces, but at an unusual distance from the building. Related: the disabled spots require a long walk to the entrance.

Well maintained facility. Love having a track indoors. Great rock wall to climb, pool tables, and big court areas for b ball and racket ball. Weights and cardio a little lean but adequate. Great monthly prices.

Perfect place to work out during the hot months

The weights are nice and easy to use. If you are a citizen you get a discount. The steam room is nice but it used to have eucalyptus in it :( now it just smells like feet. Please fix that

These people. Are amazing. Espevually the afternoon and night shift. Thank heavens and the moon and the stars that I have such wonderful company to walk into before I go to work out. Theyre honestly some of the best people Ive ever met.

Freestone Recreation Center is a beautiful building! Must not be very well known by most residents as it isnt terribly busy. The second floor has an oval track for walking, fast walking, jogging. There are basketball courts, multiple rooms for the classes held for all different skill levels. Rooms for weights, bikes, treadmills, all sorts of fitness equipment. A two story climbing wall open only certain hours, Billard tables, a two saunas. There are mens and womens locker rooms with showers as well as two family rooms for showering.You must bring your own locks for the lockers, I advise buying your own as most they have dont work.They keep the showers and family showers immaculately clean. My only complaint would be the water pressure of the showers is lacking, probably a water saving feature.Gilbert residents pay less than non-Gilbert residents and some of the Medicare programs cover Seniors for the year through their fitness programs.Handicapped accessible front opening doors, plenty of handicap parking, handicap bathrooms and the family showers are perfect for wheelchairs. There is also an elevator to access the second floor.The staff is very friendly and helpful.

This place is amazing! My family and I come out here almost everyday to participate in classes that are offered. There is something here for everyone for every age group from racket ball, weight lifting, basketball, track running and billiards just to name a few things. The classes here are also really good at engaging you and they motivate you to work out; in fact, the classes are my favorite part. In my own opinion, the best classes are the cardio drumming and muscle conditioning. I highly encourage anyone and everyone to come down here and bring along your families for a fun day of air conditioned exercise.

What a great place- whether you live in Gilbert or not! Lots of things to do- my kids love the rock wall, racquetball & basketball courts, while I enjoy the gym. My main concern before joining was that there wasnt duplicate weight racks and machines, but there have rarely been times where Ive had to wait for a station to become available. Another initial concern was that they werent 24/7 like some gyms- Ive gone first thing in the morning when they open just after 5, 6:30, 8, 10, noon, etc- basically tried different combinations, and though there are definitely some times that are busier than others, I rarely feel crowded to the point where I dont enjoy my workout. The custodial staff does a great job keeping things clean, and management seems to be on top of maintenance for machines and cardio equipment needing repairs. Could there be more variety and some duplication? Sure, but for the small space, I think its managed pretty well. Plus, when you consider that theyre not a gym 100%, and factor in everything else you can do there, its a decent price and definitely a reasonable amount to ask for all that they provide.

I recommend paying annually as you save the most money.Amenities:2 story indoor rock climbing wall which is amazing! They have 4 sides of the rock you can climb depending on what difficulty level you want/need.Indoor walk/jog/run track on the 2nd floor. It does a bog circle around the center of the 4 full size basket ball courts. I love the track because during the summer months, I dont have to sweat like crazy. I can do this indoor track, stay cool, and not be stuck on a treadmill.3-4 full size indoor racket ball courts.Daycare to take care of the children so that you can get a great workout in.Showers and lockers you can use so after you get a good sweat in, you can take a shower, clean, and put on good clothes before heading off to work.Pool tables and t.v.s.Wifii access.This place is great for both adults, families, and kids!

Joined briefly for fitness equipment which was meh. If you are looking to join for this reason look closely at the age and variety of machines available. I found variety to be lacking and machines were not smooth during use. If you are on a budget I would recommend joining but for $35 per adult you can go to the YMCA. This is where I am now and am happier.

Great rock walls to climb, beautiful place, classes, ping pong, pool tables, racquetball. My new favorite class...cardio drumming. The only thing missing is a pool.

Its a fun place to go for a quick 9 holes but its pretty normal flat and easy. Its a great beginner course simply par threes.

I have a love hate relationship with this place. Ive been going for over 8 years. Its a YMCA type place. I loved it because my teens could go and meet their friends and enjoyed it. No muscle men there making me feel uncomfortable as I worked out. Its great for new people to the gym. Its clean. They have a wide variety of classes available for every level. You go and usally fit right in. My favorite thing is I never felt judgment at this gym. The indoor walking path is beautiful. Tvs everywhere. It has older gym equipment no personal fans on equipment and teens are everywhere. Its a little on the expensive side for the type of gym but the no judgment factor keeps me going back.

A great place to start if you want to get fit, take classes for something, or just have fun on the rockwalls or even the racket ball room that they have with is my personal favorite but you should always reserve the room first a day in advance.

Great facility... Especially the kid Korner and the indoor track. The gym could use an update though.

Overall a lot of different activities if you have older children and want light activity. The price is very good. However, if youre going for weight room strictly like myself its a real pain. Summer time its over packed with young kids who just make it an unenjoyable workout. I mean I know theyre just kids but its so unbelievably annoying at times because its a very small space to begin with. But you get what you pay for I guess.

This Rec Center is very well run and well equipped. My wife and I got certified here to be belay-ers for the rock climbing they have.When you take the time to do this, then you can go any Saturday and do the belaying for your kids which is what we did. Great memories.

Great place to take your kids. Not that great if you want a great workout facility. Selection of equipment is minimal (no squat racks, limited amount of machines.) The lockers are a bit small (school style lockers), i barely could fit my stuff in. Also, you have to pay for lockers. Its only 1 quarter but i wasnt expecting it and i hardly ever carry change. Its fine if youre doing a quick 30 min workout and youre in and out but i like to bring my stuff stay for a while and get a lot muscles worked so i was a bit disappointed.
