So much potential is what made the course disappointing. There was absolutely no sand in bunkers (not uncommon in AZ), but they were also completely mud. There were many areas with standing water that were more like small ponds. I wanted to love it, but still a fun course.

Great course, well kept up. Lots of hills and rolling terrain. A couple tough holes with water and deep traps. The staff is friendly and courteous and always welcoming. I definitely recommend coming to play if you have never been, you wont be disappointed. Overall it is a top notch course and will be sure to get back out and play again soon!

Bring your range-finder, but leave your sand wedge at home. There is NO sand. Ive played desert courses with less bare dirt. And the bunkers are hard as concrete, and a few literally have grass growing in them. This was once a decent course. Not now. :(

Worst golf course Ive ever seen, its a desolate swampland riddled with hills that cause even great fairway shots to deflect out of the fairway and into the marsh. What makes this dismal swamp interesting is how saturated the land is in some spots, and how parched the scorched earth is in others. The sites are incredible- there was trash on multiple tee boxes, random dudes walking their dogs on the greens, a beautiful junkyard, and a lumber yard to supplement the views with erratic loud sounds firing off. If you enjoy long strolls through landfills, this golf course is for you.

This place is horrible! Dont waste your money there. The greens are ok but the fairways are more dirt than grass. The driving range is indicative of the course, especially the back nine. The green fees should be no more than $15 and the $40 I paid at Twilight was robbery.

I thought I purchased an 18 hole round that included a meal on GolfNow but it was actually only a 9 hole deal. Even though it was my mistake the club house honored the deal I thought I purchased so I was impressed. Course is in great shape other than a few spotty patches on the skirts of the fairway. Greens are rolling true and fairly quick given the recent overseeing. This was my first time playing this course and I’ll definitely be back.

Wont be going back, went last night and only the back 9 was open. No one told us ahead of time. More dirt than grass on the fairways, garbage on some of the holes, bunkers are not playable. Cant imagine this place stays open for much longer... I wouldnt pay $5 to go here.

Conditions werent great but still okay enough. However, had a really poor experience with a golfer who caused me to miss a couple of holes (long story). Was on hole 14 at this point so I called it a day and had a beer in the club house. Mamagement was not interested in hearing about this, and I understand its not their fault, but there are ways a club can show customers matter. You can leave a good or bad taste in someones mouth and in this case it was the latter. Will never be back.

This course is in extremely bad shape.Mud is literally everywhere on the course. There are numerous ponds of water in the fairways that should be dry and contain grass. There was a golf cart stuck in one of these where someone attempted to drive around.Arcis what is going on with this course? Plant grass and rope off the areas that are mud to keep people from driving threw them. Even where there is grass in the fairways it is all mud colored from people driving through the mud and then on to the grass.I won’t be coming back anytime soon.Very disappointing.

Ro
Review №20

The only redeeming quality about Kokopelli is the greens fees. I paid $35.00 including cart for a noon weekday tee time on 12/23/19. I am very familiar with this place, having been a member from 2005 through 2013. There appear to be no greens keepers. They have lost about 20% of the trees, there are broad expanses of bare dirt in the fairways and the bunkers were literally mud pits with no sand and serious erosion problems. There are no marshals monitoring pace of play or where players drive their carts. I can only conclude that whoever owns this place is intent on bleeding it to death and selling the rotting carcass to some developer for condos. I’ll never go back.

I do not know why the 9 hole and the 18 hole are cart path only! One is a par 4 the 18 a par 5making it very long and time wasting holes! Then the Marshall timing you!Course over watered making it muddling in the middle of the day. What is it with you cart drop off? making people walk half the club house thru a breeze way to the parking lot with only one entrance to parking lot, long way! The course is in terrible shape. Paid $22 for a round and honestly wouldn’t of played it if it was free. Half the holes were unplayable and three holes didn’t even tee off. (Played in summer of 19 so might be better in the winter). I’ve never posted a review of something but didn’t want anyone to play this course with the condition it’s in. Might have been different if when we made a tee time they warned us of the condition it was in.

Review №29

Overall, very disappointed in the course. People were very nice. Grill, when open, was good. Unfortunately, an afternoon tee time, finishing at 6pm, the grill closed no food or liquor available. Poor timing and administration in my opinion. As for the course, it was in bad shape for anyone not a scratch golfer. Greens were in decent shape but get out of the fairway and it was hardpan, mud, and dirt. Bunkers had standing water in many of them and all I were in, and it was quite a few this day, were like hitting off the sidewalk. Didnt need to rake as my presence in the bunker left no evidence I was even there.Id suggest trying another spot until they get the course in shape. There is plenty of potential there for it to be a challenging course to play and not get frustrated by the lack of maintenance.

Nice course. Generally well maintained. Bunkers frequently quite hard. Some sloping in fairways so that often, what looks like a good shot ends up in the swamps (especially hole 15), which can be quite frustrating for someone who has not played the course before. Greens smooth with some sloping and undulation. Speed of play can sometimes be slow. Still, even considering the negatives, this is a challenging course which offers good value.

This course must have been designed by a sadist. If you enjoy some blind shots, undulating terrain and uneven lies tee to green, hidden swamp, sloping fairways that run toward hazards with a sliver of grass in the middle framed by ravines with packed desert clay on either side, excessive fairway & greenside dirt bunkers that are a storey deep, small rock hard greens that reject all approach shots, pin placements on the side of hilly rolling greens, then this is your course. Slope rating should be about 135 for 6300. Staff was great, including cart girl, nice clubhouse.

I play kokopelli often - typically 1 - 2 times a week. the rates are good, the staff is good. the food is good as well, a smaller counter top atmosphere to eat after or before your round. practice facilities are pretty good, note that monday/tuesday are off mats.this is a city course and with that you get some greens that have a little bit of burn, some holes dont drain water away from morning watering as well as others. some of the rough is dirt, not exactly rough, but still a challenge to hit from. outside of those smaller issues, after all this isnt an expensive round, the course is in pretty good shape. its a challenging course just about every green needs to be carried for approach. some tee shots require precision over length while others allow you to bomb away if youre so inclined. the greens can be challenging depending on pin placement.if youre looking for a local course low rates, decent shape and to be challenged a bit - i recommend.

Love this track but this was the worst condition I have seen the course in; I have played here for many years. Fairways, tee boxes and most greens were in terrible condition. I gave up moving my ball to grass and just played off dirt and brown areas. Sprinklers were running and I was dodging them during play as well as staff was trying to put water on the course. I was first out on Thursday morning 6/14/18 @0515 and played 18 in 2 hours. I was told there may be a mechanical problem with watering system when I asked about the condition of the course but that is heresay. Sadly I will probably not return to this track before mid-winter after reseeding has been done to see if it bounces back.Fun layout if it were in better shape. Greens pitted ok even though they had very little grass on them as a whole.Good luck Superintendent as you have your hands full!
