Gorgeous place. Very tranquil. Didn’t see one other visitor the whole time, though the trails seemed to be trimmed back very well

Five mile loop trail made of rocks and sand. Not a good trail for road bikes or hybrid bikes. Good for hiking or horses. There is a picnic shelter with tables and a small pond for catch and release fishing.

This place is very pretty. I took my kiddos and dog and we were the only people there! So peaceful and serene with nicely kept trails.

Nice trails but maps were a little confusing. We hiked from the headquarters to the pond and there were really cool huge frogs that make strange noises before they jump into the water. Tons of mosquitoes when we visited in May.

Quiet walk with soft trails. The hunting Lodge looks interesting! Fishing pond that is very accessible. No real trail markers.

A well managed state forest. Site of several historic structures when it was used as a retreat for railroad executives, which are all well maintained. Nice place for a walk, but if youre looking for an actual hike I would look elsewhere.

The reservation process is a little retro, but totally worth it. Free fire wood, clean sites, nice fire rings and picnic tables. Dont expect any frills, definitely a rustic site. An awesome place to spend a few nights.

Je
Review №19

Absolutely wonderful considering it’s 100% free. Very remote compared to most other campgrounds around, free firewood (), campsites maintained very nice. Really the only thing missing is a bathroom/showerhouse but for it being free, you really can’t complain.(PS- beware of ticks! But that comes without saying in this part of the country)

This state forest is quite expansive, one of the largest left on Delmarva. It is quite peaceful and you can escape the normally fast pace of life. There are lots of interest creatures to see. I myself saw deer, a bald eagle, and a fox.

It seems like a nice place *but* you must call ahead during office hours Monday-Friday to make a camping reservation. You cannot just fill out a slip when you get there. They have an un-friendly sign to this effect

My experience while lost in this forest for 10 days was life changing. Critters living here that should not be allowed to roam anywhere on this planet.

Grandson and I went fishing at public pond. Had a great time. He hooked a bunch of sunnies on worms.

Review №38

For me it was wonderfully secluded, it was like having paradise to myself. First thing I saw when I opened my door today was a black snake across the way bathing in the sun. As a singular female, I was perfectly safe here. It is primitive, but very clean. You will definitely get a real camping adventure here, but dont worry if you are a city dweller like me, there is a grocery store and some restaurants about 4 miles away

A pristine piece of property with thicket to mature hardwoods abundant with all types of wildlife and birds. With the main objective never to be a development. A extremely peaceful place with well manicured trails open to horseback riding. A place everyone should visit to relax and have piece at mind and exercise by hiking a trail or two.
