Picture of enlightenment, the key is finding your path. You can now reserve time online to tour and take photos staged/professional pics not allowed we came right after the rain here, it was quite slippery so wear propped shoes. This part is not great or right for kids I brought my son to tach him some photography as he had been asking and it’s a great location for it too. He was more excited to explore and play which is kinda frowned on in here. The rest of the park is great to roam this should be a place of calm and peaceful reflection IMO but moms and dads should so go see on a me day alone, lol. We’ll post links here @thechicagomom it’s nested inside of the most story book settings around it’s quite perfection is a great escape.

Don’t go into the garden with high expectations. It is definitely a nice little garden and it’s very pretty but, really, it’s nothing too special. If you’re in the park I would definitely recommend checking it out.Unfortunately I haven’t been able to see the Villa Museum yet on account of it being closed during the COVID crisis - so this review is just about the garden. It’s really fun walking across the moon bridges and you’ll certainly get some great pics.

We visted the Japanese garden and enjoyed it very much. The garden is beautiful and very pleasant. The ladies who welcomed us were very friendly and informative. We were also provided a info guide for our stroll. The garden itself is small however there is much on the property to explore. There is no entry charge (donations suggested).

We visited the Japanese Tea Garden during one of the few times it is available for winter tours. The one-acre garden commisioned after the Chicago Worlds Fair by Colonel Fabyan was lovely and interesting all dressed in a light snow. Our docent was the teamaster who was very knowledgable about the history and meaning of the garden.

I am giving it only one star because of safety. The garden is beautiful but the lady working theres work ethic was terrible (Id give her a negative star if I could). We started to explore the garden around 3pm on a Thursday before we knew it was 4pm. A visitor like ourselves approached us asking us if we knew if there was another gate to exit since the entrance gate was locked. We tried to call the number listed on Fabyan Villas website and all we got was a recording. The other visitor was able to climb over the gate and was kind enough to help us as well. My mom has sciatic pain and has nerve pain in one of her legs too. With the help of the other visitor and two kind passerby gentlemen we all were able to climb over the fence. My mom was in a lot of pain. There are two gates to this garden and both were closed. The other visitor said that the worker had seen her approaching that way and still locked it. She didnt realize the worker was locking the gate at the moment but the worker definitely saw her there. Had the worker done a final walk-through she would have known that there were people still inside.. forget that.. she knew someone was still inside!! she saw them!!!. This is a safety concern. My parents are seniors. Had it not been for the kind strangers helping it would have been very difficult for them to get over the gate. Please be aware that you may locked in if you dont leave right before 4pm because safety is not their concern.

A beautiful garden! Quite large but smaller than the Chicago botanic gardens but just as nice in my opinion. Its free but with a suggested donation of a dollar. There is a museum and the river near by. A nice place to visit with plenty parking!

I enjoy the Japanese Garden. While the interior of the garden us not always open, I will walk on the groomed paths around the outside which allows you to see all points inside the fenced in garden. An abundance of small wildlife including occasional birds of prey make for interesting nature walks. Its a little awkward to come here for a walk and discover a wedding is taking place, but the garden is funded by donations so I assume they get paid for those events.
