Played the “Lakes” Course. Fairways were recently punched so they look a little different, but play very well with good grass/lies. Greens looked super nice, but rolled SLOW SLOW SLOW, I was hitting 10 foot putts like I normally hit 20 foot putts. However, this course Layout was incredibly fun with some nice tucked away green locations that felt way better than some of the other municipal courses in DFW area. Great challenge and will definitely be playing here in rotation more often! Thanks Firewheel GC!

Played the Old Course, had not done so in quite a while. Mgmt. has done a great job getting this course in very good condition. Greens held, putted well and rolled well. Fairways were good and had lots of turf. Only drawback, senior rate is $30.00.

Great staff, for winter golf it was in pretty good shape. Greens were fast, love the layout. Fairways were dormant and a little thin but playable. Had an awesome time...

Had a tee time on Friday with 6 players. We were running late. Customer service at the front desk was understanding and took care of us. We then had a tee time Saturday morning for 8 that turned into 9 at the last minute. Again the front desk told us “you have to do 3 groups of 3 because you can not have a group of 5 if we catch you you will have to leave.” Perfectly understandable. That means they had to squeeze in a third tee time at last minute which they do not normally do. That is why I gave This 5 star review. We will return and we will recommend this course. Thank you to the staff excellent last minute customer service.I will do a separate review on the club house food staff. I give this review 1 star but google only lets me do 1 review and I will not let the lazy, rude, terrible service from the 1 lady working both days ruin the work the other employees did to accommodate for me and my friends.1st she was never behind the counter only on her phone sitting at tables. Cool no problem I get it but get off you butt FAST, smile and ask “What can I do for you.” Instead I get eyes rolled, slow as all get up, and then complaining about how she had to be at work early in the morning.2nd we requested a grilled sandwich and she rolled her eyes and said “that would take 10 minutes.” I get that. You have to to grill it. But it’s peak hours you should have the grill on hearted, bread buttered and ready just toss it on and I promise 4-5 minutes max.She was like this both days in a row. It honestly was terrible. My friend told her just to forget the order he made because of how long it took to get water and ice. I am so sorry ma’am that we wasted your time attempting to have a good time at the course we paid to play at.

I’ve played these courses a lot and they’re always decent. But in April 2019, the Lakes Course is in absolutely terrible shape. The greens have tiny patches of weeds all over the place that actually affect your putts. The fairways are as hard as rocks and literally have little pebbles all over them in a lot of places. I’ll still play here again but hopefully they get it back into reasonable shape.

I always enjoy the anomalies off playing in places I have never played! I get bored otherwise. If you are in the area, check this place out!

Ja

Both facilities have unheard of bent grass greens, that are surprisingly in great shape. Hard to grow this cool season putting surface when humidity and temp is over 150, but they are by using fans that blow the humidity off the putting surface. For this place to be a public golf complex, have to give it a 10, in an era of changing bent over to one of the ultra dwarfs. Bent ,Im my option, is the best putting service around. Ask Augusta

Lakes course. Fathers day 2018. The person that does the pin placement doesnt seem to have a clue on how to due it properly. After the plug is installed in the old hole its its partially below the surface of the green. Impossible to put across. Greens are the slowest greens Ive ever played on. A 2 or 3 on the scale. I played at 8:30am. They are really going to be bad in the afternoon. The bunkers are atrocious. Some have sand and some dont. They dont look like anyone has maintained them in months. The fairway bunkers are giant in size and only have 2 rakes on each bunker. No one rakes them because of that! Its sad because it used to be maintained really well. Take a hammer to put tees in the tee boxes. Save your money, play somewhere else!

This is the premier public golf course of Garland, Texas. They have 3 course, Olde course, Lakes course, and the new Bridges 27 hole course. My favorite is the Bridges course, its the newest and best kept. But all three are a delight to play.

Wi
Review №37

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PICKING ANY OTHER COURSE IN THE NATION! The Old Course is the worst golf course I’ve ever played. Tee boxes were dirt and mud. Greens had more than 20 deep divots per hole. Fairways may as well have been the rough. We paid for 18 holes and gave up trying to play at the turn. Didn’t even ask for our money back so we could get out of there. The marshalls allowed multiple groups of 5 golfers at a time. All around, worst experience I’ve ever had playing golf and it has absolutely nothing to with score.

An
Review №38

We actually really like Firewheel golf park. The Olde course is great, but the best is Bridges. Its a cheap public course so dont compare it to Tangleridge or Dallas National, but its a fun time for beginners to intermediate golfers.

Al
Review №39

If it rains you out after only one hole played, they won’t give you a rain check. If there’s ANY chance of rain at all, they don’t issue them. Not a good policy for north Texas where storms develop out of the blue. A 10% chance of rain could mean sunny skies or tornados here.

This course is in beautiful shape right now. Fairways and tee boxes are great. Only gripe right now, and its not really the staffs fault, is that no one fixes their ball marks. Otherwise the greens are in great shape. I play 4-5 a week all over dfw and this course is by far the best value and experience out there!

3 different style courses for your game.. old course is steady the greens roll true, the Lakes..I feel the harder of the courses..great course to challenge game, and the Bridges there signature 3 -9hole course..the Masters the hardest, Champion is the easier and the Tradition is in between...

The cancelled their range card discount program, this really hacked me big time. The fairways on the Lakes and Old course are too tightly mowed. In the winter their is there is no cushion of grass at all and in the summer the ground can be hard as concrete. A great place if your a picker, but if you like to make divots, expect a wrist injury.

Review №63

I had to play the Old Course because The Lakes was closed. I get that this course is the worst out of the 3 courses at Firewheel, BUT to charge $29 on a Wednesday afternoon is absurd ESPECIALLY with what shape the course was in. It was absolutely horrible. They should charge $10 to play that thing. Highly disappointed. I left after 9 holes it was so bad. I never post on Google reviews, but this was bad.

Course is the one thing but its condition is horrible especially bunker, green. Ive been here many times but never seen taking care of green or bunker. Now, there is so much leaves from tree but not taking care of it, green is covered by leaves. So, my impression about this course is that lets make money as is.....

I am writing this review as I sit here 20 minutes behind when I was supposed to tee off because the tee time was over sold. Dont sell it if its not available the whole reason for buying a tee time at the crack of dawn is to get in and get out and beat the Texas heat.
