Curtis, the shop owner, we have known just a little bit longer than the shop has been open. He did some amazing work for both my wife and me once, and we followed him to his own shop!While Curtis hasnt done any work on us at his new shop (yet), Blake - another artist who works there, has inked both of us twice each. Fantastic work by a young, up and coming (hell, hes already there) tattoo artist. He looks young but his work is that of an old, veteran in the industry. If you have the opportunity to get some of Blakes work, dont hesitate!Curtis is a low key shop owner - he doesnt run around like I own this place. Humble, one would say. However, any artists work that leads them to owning their own Art Gallery and Tattoo Studio should speak for itself. Classic, vintage, new, realism, cartoon and even vegetative (a new category for flowers, you like that?) are just a few things in Curtis ammo bag. I could sit here for days and tell my, nothing but good, stories about Black Umbrella and crew but we all have things to do today. Allow me to explain the rest with some photos (some taken RIGHT NOW!)

This place is awesome, the artists are all super friendly and so talented. Super clean, I always have peace of mind coming in here for my tattoos. I love looking at all of the art all over the studio. So far Ive received 2 tattoos from Kurtis and I love them. More to come! Keep up the great work!

I got tattooed by Cynthia back in May and I can say she is truly talented. I gave her only a few references (2-3 pictures that I wanted incorporated) and she created an amazing design that healed very well. Huge thanks to everyone at the studio for making me feel very comfortable and confident.

I have quite a bit of work done by Kurtis! I constantly get compliments on his line work! The shop is super cool. The first time I have seen an art gallery inside of a tattoo shop. Everyone is super friendly and the shop is always clean. I highly recommend getting your art work done at Black Umbrella!

I have at least a half dozen tattoos done by Kurtis and I get so many compliments on them. He does a fantastic job AND he is a nice person which is sometimes hard to find in an artist. He takes his time to make sure your piece is just the way you want it. The shop is very clean and a fun environment, everyone is polite and friendly. Black Umbrella is the best shop I’ve ever been to. The shop is always clean and organized, very friendly and inviting. The art galaxy in the front is a great touch to the artistic atmosphere. Kurtis is my personal choice of artist and is who I refer to others but all his artists are amaizing and highly recommended.

Went in last Sunday with my husband so he could get a new tattoo and he just loved it. Brian was the artist who did his and while I was waiting I asked Blake if he was bored and if so, did he want to give me my first tattoo and he said sure. I got a cute little Hello Kitty on my forearm and it looks wonderful!Thanks again for such a wonderful experience, with a very clean environment and a truly professional staff, I am sure that my husband and I will be back in the near future!

I only go to Black Umbrella to get tattooed. I had both of my tattoos done by artist Kurtis Gibson and I plan on going back to him for all the other remaining ideas I want. He is a gifted artist, incredibly nice guy, and is extremely invested in making your idea look amazing more than anything else. The gallery as well is super awesome and makes it feel like the most professional place to get a tattoo. I feel very comfortable and involved in the process of getting my art and the clean environment is top notch.I always recommend Black Umbrella to my friends and college mates.

If you look through the gallery, mine is the Raven on the skull. It is a tribute to my Dad who was a Raven in Vietnam. I wanted lots of detail in the Raven. Being my first tattoo Kurtis was very patient with me, and did a FABULOUS JOB. I am very proud to have this and show it off. Would go there again in a heart beat for any other tattoo. I would recommend to anyone wanting a clean respectable place. ART worthy ! Great location. Great people.

Ive been to Black Umbrella for three of my tattoos so far and its such a rad place to be. The art gallery is awesome and gives local artists a chance to get their work in the public eye. Ive only been tattooed by Blake, but all the artists do amazing work and are very cool people.

Cynthia has really amazing line work, she even has a unique style. She did this on me and its rad! (Not finished yet!)

I want a tattoo

Stopped into Black Umbrella on the way home and talked to Steven about some script I wanted done. He wrote it out right there on the spot as a sample. I went back the next day and had it done. Love his work...he did a great job with the lines and made sure it was perfectly placed! I love Stevens work and will be back for more!!!

I just gotta say that i had the most fun today at Black Umbrella getting my tattoo done by Steven. He is a very cool down to earth tattoo artist, and everyone at the shop was really cool, me and my friends had a good time and they treated us with courtesy, and were funny, I am definitely coming back here for all of my tattoos. I had come in with an unfinished shoulder piece that I was very unsatisfied with done by another artist. Kurtis turned it into a piece I absolutely love. He listens to what you want and adds suggestions to take it to the next level. Black Umbrella is very clean and is beautifuly filled with art. I will be going to Kurtis with all of my future tattoos. Hes truly a genius and a master of his craft.
