This course was in fantastic shape from tee to green. Staff was awesome, price was well worth it. Carts are pretty new, work great. Only complaint would be people not fixing pitch marks but thats not the courses fault. Really happy with my experience!

Great time, nice course. Didnt like having to pay $10 just to ride beside my husband in His cart ( I wasnt playing). But all and all a very nice public course! Will be back for sure.

This course is beautiful. Everything is kept in impeccable shape. There are some mosquitoes around a few holes on the front 9, just bring bug spray. Water is in play on many holes, so hit straight or make sure you have plenty of golf balls. I played twice on my vacation and it was not enough! The staff is wonderful and friendly, I will definitely be back next time I am in town.

First time playing here as I was visiting from out of town. Reasonable rate of $45 for a Saturday. The course is challenging because there are some narrow fairways. I was upset that they didnt advise me on the pro shop that holes 8 and 9 with par 4s were turned into par 3s. Hole 8 was 100 yds and home 9 was on 65. This is something they should offer discounts for. Lots of water on this course and some very thick grass and rough. Its tough finding your ball if its not in the short stuff. Plenty of sand on the course as well. Id play it again but I will say that its nothing special to drive out of your way for. The course was in good shape from tees to greens. Plan on getting plenty of sun because there is no shade on this course. Go check it out and see for yourself.

I played the front 9 this morning and was really impressed at how well maintained the course was. The folks at the pro shop were nice and very friendly. The cart is included in the price, so its a good value to play 9 holes which is really all I had time to sneak away for. I look forward to playing the back nine next time Im in Galveston!

So I played here the day of my wedding with 7 other guys. We each payed $87 for Saturday morning green fees plus cart rentals. I did enjoy the level of difficulty at this course but I didn’t enjoy how expensive it was. I’ve played much nicer courses for almost half the price. I also didn’t like how there were grass burs EVERYWHERE. There was also a lot of mud. I probably wouldn’t be writing this review if I only had to pay $30-40 but that was not the case. Next time I play in the Galveston area, I will probably look at playing somewhere else.

This is this worst golf course I have ever been to. The people that work in the pro shop are rude and extremely unprofessional. The golf course Marshall harasses you, and the beverage cart is now where to be seen. We have been here twice, and both times have been a 0/10 experience. We will never return, and will make sure our golfing friends know not to golf here.

Moody Gardens is absolutely the prettiest course Ive played in the Houston/Galveston region. With water on 17/18 holes and palm trees throughout, you feel like youre in the Bahamas.Make sure you reach out to the director of sales Deborah Dillard.... shes the absolute best and will take care of you well. Every time we have played this course, she has made our experience second to none!

Highly rated in Dallas morning news if top 50 in the state. Glad I drove down from San Antonio. Friendly staff, good size putting green and driving range. Course was in great condition. Greens ran true and smooth. Challenging course, more water hazards on back 9 than front. Give it a try, you wont be disappointed.

After nearly 7 years away from golf, I was expecting to be terrible.I played very well for me and my abilities. I believe that the conditions and the type of grass was key to my surprising return to a game I love.The staff is fantastic. Customer service was not helpful at all. We called to cancel and everything was set, but they still charged us half of the fees even though they said we wouldnt be charged other than the booking fee. When we called to ask why that happened, the person on the phone did not know any of the questions asked and didnt even connect us to a manager

Very nice course! Greens are well maintained. Friendly staff and nice pro shop. Yes a few mosquitoes but HELLO youre near the marshy area of the bay. Bring the bug spray and you will be fine. The gulf breeze kept them at bay for us. Ha! See what I did there. We will play there again.

We were hesitant to go because we read a couple reviews that werent to nice. We decided to give it a try and form our own opinion. It was great. We called first to get a tee time. When we arrived the lady was very nice. The course was beautiful and in great shape. We have nothing but great things to say about it. You cant always go by the reviews. Glad we didnt.

Great Course! Well worth the drive from Houston. Course is in grest shape and greens are rolling fast.

Not bad for a public course. Its a relatively easy course for amateurs and affordable for twilight. We got an additional $10 off for wearing Astros gear for the playoffs.The reason I didnt give 5 stars is there were too many groups booked back to back. After a few holes we were waiting 15-20 min each hole. At one point there were 4 groups waiting to tee off. We ended up leaving early. I wouldnt recommend going on a Saturday afternoon

An absolute gem!! Awesome course layout, will test your shot making skills. Best fairways and greens in Texas. Well maintained. Glad I played here. Wind is a given being on the coast.

Nice track that will test every club in your bag. Trouble on every hole, plus you have to play the wind too. Greens are on the slow side though.

The course was in good condition. I especially thought the greens were nice. They were cut low but they barely left ballmarks and were still easy to repair when I did. As much as its flat, is still hard to gauge distances and where trouble lies on this course. Fortunately I played with two locals and was glad they were able to point me in the right direction for shots.

Well, so far I am horrified! The woman we checked in with today was the worst example of any golf course pro shop or check in person that I have ever seen. We were just confirming our tee time for tomorrow and she was rude and just awful. So far I am under impressed.

This place needs new management.The staff here is ridiculously rude. Despite paying 600 dollars for golf over two days - when the course was dead- they still thought it was okay to treat my group with disrespect and rancor.Oh and by the way-if you are going to spend the money- play Galveston country club instead. It’s nicer, cheaper, the food is way better and the staff is friendly.

Fairway is just wonderfully cared for, so as the fast greens.

Course is pretty open, lots of sand and water though. Good burgers at the club house. You can call in your order on hole 8 and pick up your food when you make the turn.

Always enjoy playing this course every year. The course is always in great shape. I always seem to catch it around aeration time, so green fees are cheap. For the money, this is a super value of a quality course.

The pro shop staff is a little low-energy, but otherwise this is a fantastic course with great views and great golf. The snack bar staff is good, and the drink cart lady was very nice. The greens are relatively fast right now, and they are not overly complex. Guard your snacks at the turn because there are some very crafty birds that will jump in your golf cart and take your chips. Im looking forward to playing here again.

Great staff and excellent course.

A very nice open course. They just fixed it up, and trimmed around the ponds, it looks great. Since its built out in the marshy area of the island, theres a good amount of water around the course, which raises the difficulty on a few holes. But its great. The only downside to Moody, and most of Galveston Island, is mosquitoes. Dont let it deter you from playing here, just bring two cans of strong mosquito spray for those summer months. Other then the dead of summer though, they are gone, and its a perfect place to play a few on a relaxing island day.

Only 4 stars cause they got some POA (3/26/19) on the greens. Tough course, lots of water, but n EXCELLENT shape and theyre managing the Poa better than any other course ice played.

Good golf course in Galveston.

This review is based on several rounds. A very nice facility but, with non-golf personnel running the place. On more than on occasion Ive played the course and there seems to be no control on the course. Groups of six that refuse to allow faster groups to play through. Multiple groups on tee box. Non-playing kids allowed to run wild. Because it is a resort course you will find inexperienced golfers that have no clue. There are player assistants that wave as they drive by 3 groups on par 3. The course itself is in fine condition. Greens are large and seem like they should be faster. A fair golf experience overall. It could be so much better if they had some control.

Tough but Fun. Greens are as good as they get. PGA quality. Nice course with fairly narrow areas if you miss the fairway. Play the gold tees if you are of average length. Youll have fun.

A true test of your game. Almost always windy, a lot of water and well-placed bunkers. Course conditions lately have been really nice. Full, fluffy bunkers and big, receptive greens that are rolling just the right speed. Find some cheap green fees online and its well worth the drive.

They have the greatest employee in the golf course. Mrs.Sue has been the heart and soul has dedicated many hours doing her job with honor and grace .!! Makes all my visits extremely enjoyable.

I have really come to appreciate this golf course. We are from Fort Worth use to stay on the Crystal Beach side, but what they call a golf course over there is a joke. Moody is a really nice public course. The staff is always very nice and helpful.

Beating a dead horse along with all the other justly given 1 and 2 star reviews. Decent enough course but poor management. Youll feel like youre doing them a courtesy by forking over your $80 to play. I would strongly urge you to look into one of the good courses on the south side of Houston. If its your only option then make sure you get a pre 8am tee time to avoid a guaranteed 5+ hour round.

Nice driving range and club house. I went for a demo day. The reps were very helpful. Stopped in the shop as well. The cust svc guy was very knowledgeable and very helpful!

The golf course is a little out of the way and hard to get to. But I would go back again. Playing within a few yards of Galveston Bay is special. Fairways were in great shape. Big greens.

I know I went at a terrible time of year, hurricane season, but the mosquitos where horrendous. I did not even get a chance to play, because it was a literal bloodbath. The course and pro shop looked well maintained other than that major hiccup

Management skills here are poor at best. Massively delayed tee times, zero accountability by management for screw ups, and professional courtesy to match the lack of competence. My friends and I had our entire days plans postponed almost two hours because of this place, and they wouldnt even attempt to make amends. Save your money. Golf at Putt Putt instead.

Course is comparable to semi-private courses. Considering this is a public course, it is well maintained. Fairways roll fast and greens are great.

Great shape best in area

I played 18-holes there Dec 11th, 2012 while on vacation. I wasnt too thrilled that I had to pay $10.00 more than a local person, since I was from out of town.I read the reviews first, and they are accurate. The course does have a lot of water on it, so you need to be accurate off the tee box.Fortunately for me, since I flew on United Airlines and they restrict you to checked bags being less then 62 linear inches, I only brought a small carry bag and nothing bigger than a 4-hybrid, which I hit pretty straight.The front-9 had some bare spots and there were a few times that I felt I was playing out of pasture that was coverted into a cheap golf course.The back 9 was in a little better condition. I dont know why. It seemed liked they watered it better.All the greens were dry, and didnt hold approach shots too well.In other words, I would rank this as a course worth NO MORE than $24.00 to ride 18-holes.Ive played better, for less and the GOOD review is being generous. Mostly because, I did enjoy the challenges of all the water, and having to play the course smart and pick some layup spots accordingly.

All you can eat

We had a group of friends in town for a weekend. Tee time at 11. Booked that time at least 2 weeks in advance yet low and behold we didnt tee off until like 12:30!!!! The course had a tournament of 70 that morning but let 93 people play. Wouldnt you think they should have called us to tell us they were running an hour or so behind or offer us some free beers, balls, free round for next time, something? They would not even accept fault and apologize for the inconvenience. Completely unprofessional. Any person we spoke to said it was out of their hands from the Pro to the Marshall and so on. Wont ever attend this course again. They just bank on the fact they are the only public course in Galveston
