If you are looking for a golf course that features horrendous customer service and lackluster course conditions then this is your place. Today I, along with 2 buddies, came to Meadowbrook to play 18 and have an enjoyable day. When we arrived at the clubhouse we used the GCM app (which is filled with local golf course coupons) to take $5 off our greens fees of $23.50 down to 18.50. We have used this coupon multiple times throughout the last year at Meadowbrook, with no issues, but today we were told that the golf course was placed on this app without their permission for two years now and they would not honor the coupon. Instead, the clubhouse “did us a favor” and only charged us $21.50, which is the price for 18 for a group of 4 golfers. My buddies and I didn’t want to argue against measly the $3 dollar difference but we were caught off guard with how unapologetic and dismissive the staff was at the clubhouse.I’ve played at this course for over a year and I’ve seen the highs and lows of the course conditions but today was something I’ve never experienced here before. The greens were essentially patches of dirt with the occasional patch of grass mixed in, and it was comparable to the topography of the Rocky Mountains. After an unenjoyable front 9 holes due to the unacceptable course conditions my buddies and I head back to the clubhouse and ask for a refund of the back 9 (which we haven’t played). When we return to the clubhouse and kindly ask for a refund of $6 (this is the price difference between 9 holes and 18 holes) we were met with hostility, incompetence, and a total lack of understanding by the clubhouse staff, more specifically Mr. John Reger. He defensively told us that we were already given a “favor” with the GCM app, which in reality he shorted us $3, and then refused to provide us a $6 refund for the back 9. Instead he only offered us a “rain check” for $6, for the back 9, and to return when the golf conditions are “playable again.” The funny thing is with this $6 rain check, is that the cost of 9 holes is $15. Basically I would’ve been given a rain check that didn’t cover the price of the holes I haven’t finished, and to finish my round I would have to pay the difference between $15 and the $6 rain check, which would be $9. All in all to play my 18 holes would’ve cost me $21.50+$9=30.50. Additionally Mr. Reger then aggressively informed me to get in contact with the owner of the GCM app and tell the owner to remove Meadowbrook from their coupons, he felt that this wasn’t the courses job, rather it was my job to inform the app. In the end, I informed the staff of the unapologetic customer service and informed them I would not be returning to this course again and Mr. Reger let me know that he could “care less and they have thousands of customers.” I highly suggest avoiding this golf course unless you would like to experience an episode of high blood pressure while trying to logic with the club house staff.

This is a great course to play. But they have their negatives one is gas carts. ( slow, doesnt go fast enough to cool you off on a hot day) its a long course. I had a absolute blast playing this course this weekend will be back might just bring my own cart though.6500ft so its a Extremely fun course. Lots of hazards. But they need to hire a new maintenance guy. Grass is weirdly mowed. Also water hazards are drained and has some crab grass growing through. But that could be to not being allowed to fertilize the grounds this year. But none of that messed with the game play.

Greens were a little fury. Fairways were in good shape. Bunkers and traps were a bit packed down. Cart paths require ATVs.

I love Meadowbrook. Everyone there is really nice, the price is reasonable and the greens are in decent shape. Its got some elevation changes and is a fun layout. Some of the cartpaths are torn up and its a rough ride is about the only complaint

A well-kept golf course that allows non-residents to play for a reasonable fee. The administration has made significant operational changes to conform with the current pandemic specifications recommended by the county.The staff is very friendly and flexible to make your experience a pleasant one.

Great round for the price and friendly staff. Theyre making strides towards getting it back in shape. Looks and plays better and better every time I go. I hope to give 4 stars next time

Nice course, well-kept except for a few of the greens. Clubhouse is rather dated and the driving range could use some mats. Pretty challenging course for the occasional player such as myself, a lot of water especially when its been raining a lot.

Improvements being made, hopefully more to come. Price is good. 60 to 70 percent of greens in good shape. 80 percent of fairways are in nice shape.

I love Meadowbrook Golf Course it is well managed and the layout of the course presents a challenge for all and yet its a lot for fun for all levels of of players. Go give it a try, its BEAUTIFUL and a asset to our Gainesville family.

Terrible experience. The lady at the register was trying to force us to buy things we didn’t need to play and was very rude. They are more expensive and the course isn’t well kept. Go to ironwood instead it’s much better for your money.

Meadowbrook was not a good experience to say the least. The course was poorly maintained, and the staff were extremely rude. There are far better golf courses in Gainesville for a better price. Would not recommend coming here.

Nice course but has rough greens

Course needs some repairs but you can tell the management is working on it. The course style is great with a good choice of water, sand, and other strategic obstacles. This makes it an Interesting course to play.Fix the terribly damaged car paths, some of the drainage issues, and place new sand into some of the bunkers to facilitate better bunker play and this course would be a superstar. Right now a little rough but I enjoy playing here for a difference in skills required (over other courses). If it was fixed it would naturally cost more so think about that before people post about about it being bad. It is a gem for what they charge at the moment. It a decent course but could be a great course in short order.I enjoy playing here.

Its a cow pasture not worth 15 bucs to play greens suck some fairways dont have any grass on them. Better off going a little south pay a little more and have a good time.

Lady at the front was rude and tried to make the whole party pay for clubs and carts that we didn’t need or want. Waste of time and money. We had a party of 6 but will never come here again. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM. I bet soon out of business

Meadowbrook has gotten so much better. Tee to green was excellent. Great price too!

Not bad but not what I expected

This place used to be amazing. And seems like they tried and tried again. Course is in bad shape 80% of time. Not to mention there is no cart service and the restaurant is always fighting with the club house and it smells kind of funny in the building and you cant bring your own cooler even tho they have little no beverages to offer their guest

Great course, but could use a little better upkeep at times.

Played during the week and before the afternoon rush. We had a good time. The rates were reasonable.

New owners are really fixing things up. Would give them another try if you havent been the for awhile

Excellent staff! Course greens were being aerated and fairways were descent. Tee boxes need some work like yesterday. Overall I love the layout and the price was great. I love playing this course whenever Im in town!

This place is coming back to the great course it used to be. Visited family last weekend, so played there on 10/22/2016, and it was great. Greens, fairways and tee boxes are in great shape. Of course, since this is a work in progress, there were 2 or 3 greens and 3 or 4 tee boxes that need some extra work, but not to the point to mess up my score. This is course is coming back,. I am excited to see the end product.Will be playing it again in December for sure.

Playing some golf

Meadowbrooks staff is very friendly and made me feel right at home after several years away from playing. Doc was especially great, as he seemed to make an effort to get to know everyone that walked through his door.Ive watched the condition of the course improve every day that I drive by. It was very nice to finally get out and play on it.Prices arent bad either, makes either walking or riding appealing. It is also nice to have a par 72 course to play, as the local par 60 just doesnt always have the right challenge. Ill be coming back to play soon and often!

Course is consistently getting better. Can’t beat 18 holes for $18 with cart after 1 pm in town. New attached restaurant Nola’s seems good, but haven’t tried yet.

In my opinion, the fairways and greens are in the best shape ever! The course is Great!Water areas continue to be a challenge and 1 or 2 cart paths deserverepair but overall - I rate Meadowbrook Golf 4.45 and destined to rise...

Honesty is important. Mid day round $18. No sand in traps. Greens have limited grass. Played course soon after ooened and unfortunately it appears 30 years later it was unable to be maintained. Makings of a nice layout. Undulating fairways. Challenging greens. I know the new ownership is trying to bring back ao I want to see play on it. Great course for learner. Cheap. Shouldnt losr golf balls. But earlier ratings gave belief it was in very nice shape. That just iant trueHowever. It was wotmerh what I paid for itPic of 17th green

Ive been playing Meadowbrook every Sunday for a few months now and every time it gets better. They are making great strides with the course and the greens are in fantastic condition.

This is the only time I ever golfed but I absolutely loved it. The employees where super friendly. And the course was fun.

Definitely can see the effort being out into improving the course. Food was excellent in the bar & grille. Still plenty of room for improvement. But certainly heading in the right direction

The greens need work

Came all the way from the west to experience ‘florida golf’. This was the worst golf course these eyes have ever seen. I walked in, it smelled like dead fish, the greens havent been cut in months, there was a flag/hole in the middle of the fairway on the 5th hole. Under no circumstances should this place be able to charge customers money. The state needs to seriously look into this property and consider shutting it down.

This is where I get my seafood fix. The J.J. platter is my everything. Shrimp and Grits awesome. Love the ambience.

I ate at restaurant there called Divots. Cool place great burgers and sandwiches wings etc. I will definitely go back. Nice people.

Played this course twice in three weeks and it is improving drastically. In those three short weeks I noticed that both the tee boxes and greens seemed markedly improved. While there is still plenty of room to grow, the new management is very friendly and seems committed to making this a great golf course!

The new owner/operator has really turned things around here. The course is getting better every day. It is so much better than it has been for many years now.

Everything is so dry right now but the owner is trying to keep it up and doing a great job of it good place to golf on

18 bucks 18 holes. Not busy. Greens are just OK. For the price a great place to get your swing in shape while being on a course and not at a range with rubber mats.

Great course for the price. There are some areas that still need a little work, but it has come a long ways since it was bought by the new owners.

Just an ok course the last time I played which was March 21st, 2020. I havent been back since then due to an interaction I had with the starter that morning. Me and two friends were walking the course early Saturday morning, and brought a small cooler with water and Gatorade (NO alcohol), to have on the course. The starter says coolers arent allowed, under any circumstances, and was not very friendly when speaking to us. If we hadnt already paid, we would have left then based on that conversation with Meadowbrooke personnel, but we decided to play anyway. To make matters worse, there were no water coolers on the course, which was understandable, due to COVID-19, but they also did not have a beverage cart start making rounds until 10:30, at which we were almost done with 18 holes. The fact that they dont allow coolers is understandable, as most golf courses follow this rule as well. It was the tone in which this gentleman spoke to us, (three adults in their late 30s to early 40s) thats the reason why none of us have been back to this course.

I have played a lot here in Meadowbrook in the past. My buddy like the layout. Hope you dont give up renovating. Go !

They are really getting it together! Course is looking good, and the restaurant is fabulous

First the positive.(1) fair price. course is trying to improve so in mean time cant play golf any cheaper.(2) fairways. They have gotten 100 times better.(3) bunkers. All decent aside from second hole.(4) layout. As always this is one of best layouts in gainesville, elevation, water, bunkers, hidden flags, good doglegs (look forward to back nine opening).And the negative.(1) greens are still really struggling, but improving from two years ago. (This is the Achilles heal of this course).(2) cart path is a literal ball buster lol.(3) no clubhouse, just pro shop. I dont mind and I understand at the moment. Maybe next year if the course continues to improve through hot summer. Then cold winter.My imagination is giddy with joy when I think what this course could be if it was at highest quality, but I have hard time believing it will ever get there. Hope it could make it to a $25-$30 course quality within next few years is more realistic.

This course isnt a 5 star course but the staff and the price are outrageously good. At $21.50 a round you are getting a great course for the price.

Course is getting better every day! Its a process that takes time but hang in there folks, the end product will be worth the wait!

Greens need work. Plus they have to control the golfers. A group of six started at the tenth hole and everything just stopped. I was the third group to the of on hole number one, ending up shipping to holes so my round wasnt 5 hours long.

New owners putting some money into the course, and its coming along great. Course is finally a good deal and worth playing!

Meadowbrook golf course is a good example of how an average course can decay under bad management. The assistant manager was very rude to the people behind us on the course and the rest of the staff was equally as unhelpful. The cart path on the course and the amenities all throughout were in poor condition and beat up. I had a poor experience at this course and will not return. Other courses in Gainesville will serve you better for the same price.

This golf course is trash. Management sucks, the greens have holes, sand and weeds all in them. The workers are rude. The tee boxes, rough and fairway are not cut at all. This course isnt worth any money. Parts of the course are thick Saint Augustine grass and the ponds are green. The layout is nice but the grounds crew is awful.

Great place to drink beer and ride golf carts.

This course has seen its share of history, and the latest owner is on the right track to restore this course to its glory years. The price is certainly worth the round.

Im not sure what has happened, but this is the worse Ive ever seen Meadowbrook. From ant mounds all over the place (including the greens and tee boxes, which means they didnt cut that morning) to weeds, overgrown grass and just plain horrible conditions, this course looks like it is about to close. Shame, used to be a nice course for the money.
