Fantastic theatre. I saw the Fresno Junior Symphony and their performance was remarkable. The conductor was excellent and managed a huge number of kids. The sound in the theater was wonderful. They sold some snack food during intermission. I highly recommend this place for any kind of performance and there isn’t a bad seat in the house!

Sat in the front row and very good seats. They were comfortable seats for a long show, a little shy on the leg room for when people leave their seats and walk in front of you. A little hard to see the letters on the side of the chair when you are trying to find your seat in the dark but someone was there to guide us in during the show.Parking was good and not bad price, and lots of room for the venue.Overall great place would visit again

Amazing venue for symphonies and orchestra events. The finest in the state. Best place for seating is the upstairs balcony where the acoustics are outstanding. CASMEC does an outstanding job to have this at this fabulous place.

Easy access with simple layout. Reasonable leg space yet taller folks block views of stage. Paid $150 for row E and would probably sit further back to gain a little more leverage. Parking is convenient with places battling at $8 or 10. Take the 8..

Saw RENT here last Wednesday and it was amazing!! I have been to Saroyan before for graduations and for a Zelda Soundtrack concert which was pretty cool. This was my first Broadway in Fresno show and it did not disappoint. I had a seat in the very last top row and still everything was amazing--the stage was set up so that from my view I could see everything and the sound is perfect. Will definitely go to more shows here of any genre. The cookies in the snack bar are so delicious. I was surprised to see that they also had a small variety of wine and beer to purchase which is cool. I was dropped off and then took a lyft home but there is plenty of parking very close by and plenty of people out after the shows so dont hesitate to come downtown to the Saroyan!

A great venue and staff. Concerts can sound a little muddy if youre in the wrong seats, but Ive seen a couple Broadway shows touring through, Alice Cooper, and a handful of comedy and spoken-word shows here and enjoyed them all.The concessions are sometimes cash-only, so be sure to hit an ATM before you arrive!

Amazing place, very beautiful building, and the bathrooms are great! Theres nothing worse than spending intermission in a long bathroom line, but this place has soooo many stalls in each bathroom. The theater is nice too, not too big, so even if you are sitting in the back you get a pretty nice view.

No rating. The place sprung a leak and the show was cancelled but was so odd is that no one from the theatre said anything at all for 45 min. I would think 5 minutes later they should of said something like our complete apologies our sprinkler system spung a leak and we will have to cancel for tonight.... Actually anything ,anything would of been normal to tell the audience other then that it has some good shows ~

Probably the best large scale venue for stage productions in town, the Saroyan Theater is the best cared for of the three original Convention Center buildings. Seating is generally comfortable, though if you have a few extra dollars Id highly recommend the lower level seating which is worth it for the extra legroom alone. Restrooms are generally clean and functional though only located in one corner of the building and can often have quite long lines, especially during intermissions.

Saroyan Theater is the place that most of the fine arts groups perform in the Central Valley. We have countless times and have always enjoyed ourselves. Its easy access to all levels of seating make it convenient for everyone. The only area that may need a little updating is sound. The system is older and it is sometimes not at the same level as theaters in Los Angeles, new York, etc... But still, very nicely maintained

I have attended dozens of times. Great shows. Womens bathroom lines are long. The bag policy is Ridiculous! No backpacks, no exceptions?!1. VIP package for the Lion King is a gift of a backpack!2. Size does matter. My small purse backpack held my wallet and a small notebook. It is NOT a book bag. Easy to carry and not cumbersome, so, follow me here, I could buy souvenirs and goods from your concessions....3. Women are allowed to bring in bags up to 12 × 30 handbags! Where are these women going? On vacation?4. Baby bags are allowed?! Babies and accompanying bags should not be allowed! Its the theater, not the park.5. All security did not follow this rule. I saw multiple people with purse backpacks entering the building when being told I could not bring in mine.6. This rule discourages a younger crowd which follows the fashion trend of purse backpacks.7. No backpacks for safety? Men were allowed in even when setting off the metal detectors. They werent searched or patted down. The logic behind the no backpack rule does not make sense. It only dissuades a certain look. The reasoning against purse backpacks is the same for enforcing a clutches only rule for women for the theater. If this is the case, clutches only, I would agree and leave my purse at home.

My first time visiting the Saroyan for an actual production was to see Island of the Blue Dolphins. I was in grade school and I enjoyed the experience immensely. I have been to the theatre for various graduations and I really cannot complain about this place. They are sticklers about security but Id rather have that then lax security measures. They sick to the rules but thats no problem. I know that over the years they have updated the place and it still looks okay. From graduations to the circus they have done it all here in one or all of their facilities. I do wish they had more accessible bathrooms from certain seats but its not too bad. Its a great place for everyone.

Review №73

The wonderful shows that come dont have anything to do with the Saroyan. Unfortunately the facility is very dated. The sound is often a sore spot of the show, the bathroom lines are long and only on one side of the theatre, many of the seats are broken down and lopsided or slanted and the temperature can range from too hot or too cold. We pay a rather large facility fee for each ticket, please use it to update our theatre so great performances continue to come to Fresno!

Great large theatre for big shows. I hadnt been there for a while, and when I arrived tonight, I was struck by how badly the house carpet seemed to need replacement (worn and stained). Also, the coffee and dessert choices were meh - I guess I was hoping for a bit better after shelling out the cash I did to see Broadway in Fresno. Its still an impressive-looking venue, though, with a versatile stage for shows, and all seats seem decent, including back balcony.

As a venue for large groups, who usually have a quick intermission, the bathrooms are too few. I immediately head there (ha!), wait in a line that is probably a hundred women long, and the bell sounds to return to your seat before I ever get into the restroom. Im sure its a frustration for the entertainment groups too.Of course the nose bleed seats are SO far from the stage, but thats how large venues are. The seats are getting old, but are adequate. The purse-search was very quick this time, held indoors (much warmer) and were done in a friendly manner, so that was appreciated.

Cant Handle Its Own Capacity. There are never enough bathrooms so you need to sneak to another building just to pee. The snack bars only sell complete junk at super high prices.
