It a beautiful place. Do visit this place with kids. They have special tours for kids on Sundays at 11:30 am. Kids under six are not allowed for house tours, they are only allowed for kids special tours. The park outside the house is clean and has lots of big trees. You will see few Hummingbirds drinking water from the fountain. Beautiful flowers are blooming around the house. Garden in the backyard is okay.
The Patterson House tour is included in the admission price for Ardenwood Historic Farm. They have children under six tours as well as people over 6 tours. The docent, Len, made the tour informative and fun. About 75% of the furniture and accessories are from the Patterson family.Tours are under an hour and it is time well spent!
Great place to visit and hear stories of CA and this beautiful home. Plan a tour with a docent. This is a place to come back for other tours, too. Kids older than 8 will enjoy this too ;)
Nice place for kids to enjoy with petting animals and cho cho train . They have kept old tractors and farming equipment . On the animal goats goats sheep and sheep. Chicken and a rabbit. The entrance fee is usd 10 per person . There were entertainment , pie eating contest when we were there . Children below 8 yeras can enjoy. They could have some more rabbits is in my opinion.
This place is beautiful. I think I caught our friend Mr. Patterson in the photo I snapped yesturday in the family room where children were permitted to play makes me truly happy that he wanted me to know as I mentally entered his home thanking him for sharing his wealth and gem with the public teaching us about the life of Mr. Patterson.
Beautiful, Victorian home, amidst an old, working farm. Full of local history, docents were informative. Adorable gazebo on property to enjoy. Great place to spend the afternoon. Wish the house tours werent an additional charge. Bathrooms at the park were surprisingly clean. Will take grandkids again! Looking forward to holiday decorations!
Nice grounds to walk around. Farm nearby has animals for the kids.
Very interesting history. Was awesome going through the house. The lady who directed the tour was very good and explaining and telling us the history. Was a lot of fun!
Went to an absolutely beautiful wedding here. Great location and great service.
We went to the Christmas open house and what an incredible time and opportunity to visit the house at night while decorated for Christmas. Everybody was very informative and friendly. It was a fun and unusual Christmas activity.
Great place for kids and nature lovers
I was a docent at the Historic Pattern House and farm for 21 years. Fabulous place!! Great place for kids to be kids. Great place to learn about Victorian life and farming.
Incredible wood work and story. A gem that gives our community a sense of place. Thanks East Bay regional parks!
It astounds me that the area was once all ranch land. And this was the homestead.
Ardenwood is a great place for kids. the farm, the house are beautiful! pack some lunch or snacks and enjoy it on the grass in front of the house or the picnic areas
Pretty gardens, relaxing but fairly simple. Farm area is pretty nice. Train is fantastic, so entrance fee is worth the train ride alone.
Got a chance to go back in time
It was ok, there’s not many farm animals and the coffee and gift shop was closed.
The history of this place is amazing! If you have the time, definitely take the house tour!!
Beautiful Queen Anne style Victorian home originally built in 1857 for George Washington Patterson and his wife Clara. In 1985, the house with all of the furnishings intact, was opened to the public às part of Ardenwood Historic Farm. Mr Patterson named the property Ardenwood after the forested area in England mentioned in Shakespeares play, As You Like It. The house is an immaculately preserved example of life in the late 1800s and early 1900s. For special events, you will find the house staffed by volunteer docents in period authentic dress, there to lead you through this historic home.
Very fun, if you have little kids the 2:30 tour is perfect, anything longer would be too much.
Beautiful grounds and its fun to watch the animals on the farm
A great family friendly trip for a few hours
Wonderful location for local history, but wish more house tours were available to the public
Make sure you join the tour, the kids tour was wonderful.
This place is hidden gem, when I went there I didnt have any idea how beautiful this place is so when I walked in and saw the scenery I was stunned of this amazing place, good for family outing or even for couples date.
Very beautiful house, and it was very fun learning about the history of it an the family who owned it.

Nice house to visit and learn about the former owners.
Beautiful histotical spot. What a treasure!
It shares the history a family that came to California during gold rush in search of gold but found gold in farming later. Awesome history and quite motivational place.
Best place for toddlers.
If you like history, youll love visiting Ardenwood.
Great location for a lazy walk thru beautiful grounds. Some parking, get there early to avoid the crowds. Very affordable fantastic animals and peacocks running around. Areas for private partys, plenty of restrooms very nice and clean. Allowed to bring food in. Did not see any grills. Other events are held there sheep shearing, harvest festival, Scottish games. Lots of fun for kids
Interesting tour learning about the history of Ardenwood Farm
Unfortunately only open to families with small kids a couple times a year, but it is a great glimpse into how families lived in another era. Beautiful wallpapers and other appointments, and a wealth of antiquated toys and household gadgets.
Unique example of 1800 history with great artifacts depicting farm life in the family home.
The farm is awesome but the. Patterson house is never open for tours. The animals are very friendly and looke happy and healthy
