Just letting everyone know that the efforts made by FWMoA to keep everyone healthy and safe are exceptional. No-touch doors, spotlessly clean, very extensive protective acrylic panels at the desk with external no-touch credit card device, plus polite enforcement of masks rule — all made our visit stress-free and pleasant. Patrons have plenty room to distance from each other.Wonderful art too of course! As always!Don’t hesitate to go!

I love this place. For two years now, my husband and I have stopped in during a summer art festival we attend. This year, we brought our younger son (17). HE even enjoyed it! They support local artists and I enjoy the friendly atmosphere. What a wonderful, hidden treasure! Definitely take the time to visit. You wont be disappointed, and youll actually be a little proud of Fort Waynes hard work for the communitys enjoyment.

The museum of art in Fort Wayne is spectacular. Did you know that the museum rotates exhibits more than most art museums? They do it to keep people interested more and it is amazing because you can go multiple times and see a completely different exhibit.

First time for an art museum for me. Guess I expected a little bit more from an art museum. It was fascinating for the first time. There is seven exhibits possible with their space given. They give you a map and theres plenty of signage to tell you what you are looking. Staff was helpful when we arrived and offered assistance if we needed help.

I had some free time downtown, and decided to check out the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. I was pleasantly surprised that on Thursday evenings there is no admission (regular admission is just $8), and although the space is somewhat small, I found it to house a wide range of contemporary art, including paintings, woodcuts, and glass pieces. The woman at the desk (I did not get her name) was quite helpful, suggesting an ideal path through the galleries.

This was a lovely stop for my weekend trip. Theres a good variety of styles and time periods represented, and a big focus on local artists, with some international work as well. The staff is very friendly and military members, veterans, and dependents all get in free with ID, along with a guest. The gift shop has some beautiful and unique items. Non-flash photography is allowed in the gallery too.

During our visit the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards featuring the Gold and Silver Key winning art and writing by students in grades 7-12 from the local area was on display. This was a juried competition and there was fantastic work on display including poetry but the exhibit felt very packed! Loved all the pieces but it probably could have been edited down to better showcase the winners.

We picked a rainy day to visit the Museum of Art and fortunately free parking was nearby. Free lockers (with key) are available to stow your coats and umbrellas. We started our tour with the landscape glass sculptures and the display cases of brilliant cut glass. From there we were awed by the talent of middle school/high school students who were 2019 Scholastic Art and Writing Award winners. The depth, feeling, understanding, and creativity of such young students is hard to comprehend. Words cant describe how talented these young people are.

The guy at the desk was nice and made sure I knew about the available discounts. Very clean building and the outdoor sculpture area is also lovely. Their website is also very well-done, and any information you could want is very easy to find. They even gave alternative routes taking road construction into account.

Its no doubt a great museum for a small city like Fort Wayne. They constantly change artworks every few months to keep the locals engaged. However, if youre in the mindset that itll be like the art museums within bigger cities (Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, etc.), then you will not see it here.At this time, I feel that it is a good place to visit. Its nothing spectacular and I didnt leave feeling impressed. I believe that over time, things will get better as they will offer better artworks.

Je
Review №61

Dont go here expecting to see works by well known artists. All art housed here is contemporary, when there are renowned artists you have to pay an extra fee. I would rather drive to Toledo and see Renoir and Degas for a $5 parking fee and good will donation. Its a small museum and feels more like a contemporary art gallery than a museum. If it were more outlandish like MoMA it would be more fun, but its mediocre at best.

For a small museum, its got a great collection. There are always visiting exhibits, too. A membership is the best choice, because you could easily go quite often (they are also part of a reciprocal program with other museums). There are classes, programming for children, and a wonderful shop that sells the work of local artists.

Now I love the art museum. However, there is one thing that drives me absolutely crazy about it. Why do they have the absolute worst hours possible?!? I mean they open at 10 am and close at 6 pm most nights. Except on Thursday they are open to 8 pm. I am sorry but I can never make it to there because I get off at 5:15 and by the time I drive there it is already 5:45. Maybe you should consider changing your hours to fit the average working citizen better. Other than that, the place is constantly rotating its collections to give patrons a new experience every few months.

I was so very disappointed with my visit. There were 3 rooms we were able to go into. Short of a few display cases everything else was framed art on the walls. We were given a $2 discount because they were taking down displays in other areas. It honestly took all of 20 minutes to see everything thoroughly. There should not be any charge for the minimal display available.Sadly I will not return.
