Loved the cannons they had on display. The trees changing colors and the potomac in the background was a great picture. Easy walk on the trails and a nice wife open area for kids to run around. Parking is limited to about 10 spots depending on how other people park.

The parking lot is currently closed yet is still accessible. Im not sure how Covid effects our ability to safely park in a wooded area, but youre offered to brave passing cars and to park in a ditch.I had my Maltese and daughter with me. We could tell early on another hiker was in the area with a pet. After seeing the cannons and wanting to explore closer to the water, the smell of marijuana became quite strong. We decided not to meet our smoking hiker friend and left the trail early.

Many forts in DC are just piles of sand where a fort used to be. This fort has canons on display and info boards about the history. If you are in the neighborhood, stop by.The toilet block was closed.

Excellent park for Civil War buffs and historians. One or two stars for others. The two 15 Rodman shore batteries are outstanding but hard to get to there location. Parts of the trails are rough. Tree branches to climb over. Wonderful view of the Potomac. National Harbor and Jones Point park can be seen across the river. Wear good hiking shoes. A walking stick is also nice to carry.

My favorite park to bring the dogs! It’s quiet and the other trailgoers are so sweet and friendly. My favorite part is the beach at the end of the trail!!

Very interesting history and very unusual unusual canons on display! Otherwise, the park is rustic and minimalist.

A lot cooler than what I expected. Beautiful walking trails up to the guns. Its cool to see these huge guns and abandoned bunker just sitting in the woods. Youre in the middle of this historic place but all around is modern technology. Its surreal.

This place is local and convenient for a quick hike. The cannons are cool. The trail down to the river both ways is nice. Saw a lot of deer, and I was able to get close. However, there is prevalent trash. This is clearly the result of people who have no stake in this place, or their own community, which is sad..Not a bad spot for a quick workout hike and to see the cannons. It is a shame that a few bad and lazy people make it nasty for everyone else..

Not much to see here, trails lead to dead ends. Although seeing the cannon was cool.

I recently visited Fort foote state park in Fort Washington. some of the trails were in desperate need of repair. there were fallen trees in some areas, trash, and the one of building ruin was totally covered in grafitti and had empty beer and liquor bottles inside. overall it seemed as if this park had been forgotten about and is totally disgraceful the condition its in

Great open space close to DC, but this site needs some TLC. Interesting civil war site and access to the river with some nice trails to walk. There are two Rodman cannons on display in what looks like their original locations, but the fortifications have deteriorated a bit.

We walked through with our bikes September 2019. The highlights were the water views, eating paw-paws that had recently fallen, and the scenic beach at the North end.

Interesting old fort built to protect Washington DC from naval attack during the Civil War. Earthworks and some stone ruins remain, along with several bottle guns. Allow an hour or so to tour this hidden piece of local history, and be prepared to walk in grass and dirt.

Essentially nothing more than a field and some forest abutting the Potomac. The fortifications are run down and overgrown. Nice for a little piece of nature, not much for military history.
