Its really an amazing place to visit. Lots of history and beautiful views. I really enjoyed seeing the old powerhouse and the cascade of waterfalls that fed electricity to the area. Definitely looking forward to going back soon.

Love our full week camping here in Nov 2020. Really like how large the sites are and the privacy from the other campers. Nice fire areas as well. The local surrounding and waterfalls to visit etc, are worth the trip again. We stayed in site 81 which was nice and had good WIFI signal from the campground. I was able to work M-Thursday on the state park provided WIFI.There is just enough Verizon coverage for phone and text calls, not really enough for DATA usage on a Hot Spot. Will be back.

This time of year is Beautiful as always in the park... But the chalet we stayed in smelled like wet fireplace which we didnt use. For the price it should be updated and thoroughly cleaned. There were spiderwebs throughout it. And when the little mouse went running across the kitchen floor it was time to go. The staff are very nice but I dont think we will be back.

This place was awesome. We camped at De Soto State park. We stayed at the Primitive sites. Number 6 is one of my favorites. Has loads of space to move around and fits about 3 tents, i know it doesnt seem so private but it is really nice. You can park right next to the spot so you dont have to hike. The other spots are a little more private but they are surrounded by woods. We had site 7 and the group site next to us. They were good neighbors so I cant complain. With our camp reservation we got an entry ticket to the De Soto Falls. So beautiful! You can see it from the top and you can hike to the bottom. It is about a 1mile down. The hike down to the falls is a little challenging. Mostly downhill so if you have any knee or foot issues. Be careful. Think twice. It is a wonderful hike though. Go and stay at the soto. They have great hiking trails and biking trails. So much to do!! We will be back!

We loved this park. We stayed 3 nights in the campground and could have stayed a week. The trails are great. The scenery is awesome. There is so much to do and see here, that we will have to come back to experience it all. There are 6 waterfalls in/around the park. The trails are some of the best Ive ever hiked. May is a great time to go for the rhododendron bloom.

Loved all the trails. Many of them connect so you can shorten or extend your hike. We stayed in Cabin 1 and were impressed in the amount of space. There were two bedrooms plus the sleeper sofa. The living room / kitchen has enough space and seating 8 people. There is cable tv in three rooms (but we never took the time to use them). We were woken up at 730AM by a woodpecker removing carpenter bees from the porch posts! The front porch has a couple of rocking chairs to enjoy the view of the trees. We were only a couple hundred feet from Indian Falls on the green trail. Cell phone coverage is almost nonexistent in the park. Text messages occasionally were successful. There is wifi at the lodge but we experienced problems connecting to it on the first day. The breakfast buffet was great and the ladies running the breakfast were very friendly. The camp store is only open 9-5 and is handling the Covid restrictions as best as possible. There is a convenience store about three miles outside the park on 89 that is open until 9PM. You can phone in pizza orders for pick up. The park is about 15 minutes from all the food and shopping in Ft Payne. This ended up being a great place to spend unplugged time with the family.

Excellent place for family of all ages to go hiking and experience some out doors. Even if you are not experienced this is a really great beginners hiking trails. There are enough trails here to spend all day hiking even if you are experienced. For the advanced hiker the trails can seem a bit small and crowded at times. Parking can be a challenge since this place can get busy especially with more people out doing active things give the situation with the biological malware sweeping around the world! Please be courteous of other hikers and step aside to let others pass on the trail. Either if they are coming towards you or hiking faster than you and would like to pass. Do not leave trash such as bottled water or soda cans. This ruins it for everyone!! I did see some trash on the trails. Plenty of places of kids to climb around on big rocks and explore little caves and over-hangs of rock safely and plenty of neat places to take selfies and group photos by the wayer falls. Always keep safety first when taking selfies since you dont want to fall off a cliff just for taking a picture!

Excellent campground, recently renovated with very well done full hookup sites. Lots of well maintained trails for hiking around. Very close to many area attractions and the lovely village of Mentone. DSP is also a great destination for a day trip with many outdoor activities and facilities. Campground Wi-Fi needs to be beefed up and cell service is spotty to non-existent so come prepared with that in mind. Full hookup camp sites include cable tv with many of the most popular stations but reception is not the clearest. Still a very welcomed amenity in an Alabama State park. If you are a camper or an Alabama native, you owe it to yourself to enjoy the beauty and natural resources of north Alabama and this wonderful corner of our state.

Went to get breakfast at the restaurant at the lodge at 9 am (they said they served bfast everyday 7-10am everyday) and it was closed....so I got a cool mug and just picked something up at the menato market. Then went and spent the afternoon on the river by Indian falls (falls were a little bit disappointing )The desoto falls was awesome too not packed at ALL.This is definitely gunna be a regular vaycay spot.

Great place to camp. They have everything from rv spot to drive up primitive spots to backpacking sites. Enough hiking trails to keep you busy for a week and flat water boating a short drive away at Desoto Falls (whitewater available during the spring). Spring or winter is the time to go to see the best of the numerous falls, most of which can be viewed with less than 1/2 mile of walking.

Love this park. The cabin is nicely furnished, central air conditioned with TV (with kids channels) fridge, coffee maker, cooking utensils, microwave oven, oven, electric stove and clean. Shower head is not adjustable but has hair drier. The bed comforter under the clean bed sheet is yellow stained though. But so far we stayed 2 nights without any issue. The mosquitos net in the porch ares unfortunately is with broken holes so we cant really stay in the porch to enjoy night and morning as much as we wished too. Otherwise it is quiet and felt so close to the night stary sky and nature. When we did BBQ the first night in front of the cabin we got visiting racoon and fox! But they did not insist on staying... We chased them away. The semi modern camp site however it is not very ideal for camping in tent. As sky will light up at 4 am in mid June, by 8 am sun is hot and shining, inside the tent would be too hot. Otherwise it is clean and with centralized shower and bathroom facilities. Each camp site looks like a parking lot with a camp fire site, BBQ grill site, table and bench, an electric point and water host outlet. Extension wires beside power cord and fans are needed to enjoy the electricity and to keep cool. Many of locals were there with their trailers instead. Finding the lodge and registration etc is not very easy google map can be miss leading. But thankfully we found it. Walmart, nearest one also quite far to the state park lodging area in my opinion. Pizza hut nearby down the hill has good quality pizza and recommended to try their stewed beef pizza. So much meat and fresh!
