I cant believe I have lived here my whole life and never visited this beautiful park! Took my kids kayaking as a fun way to staycation. The lady helping us out could not have been any sweeter! We enjoyed kayaking..you dont need any more than an hour to do the freshwater trail. Great access to or from the beach.

Pretty overrated as far as nature areas go. First time going was a disappointment so I figured I’d give it another chance, but the second time was no different. Nature trails aren’t that long and for such a large area seem underutilized and too close to the road, giving you no feeling of seclusion. The most scenic part of the park is probably the LEAST nature thing in the area (it’s view of the inter coastal), and they have a big map with markings yet none of landmarks are actually MARKED to let you know where you are. None of this would leave you feeling disappointed were it not for the $4 entrance fee. For what? What is there here to see?? If youre looking for a real nature area, skip this place and go to Fern Forest in Coconut Creek. Its also free.

This park is amazing. I loved the trails, the views into the canals, the kayaking area. Although short compared to others, the lake and canals are fun and there are a lot of wildlife considering its in the middle of a city. The beach is near. Definitely a must if youre visiting the area and want to relax.

We go to a lot of parks and rate this one very highly. It has beautiful trails, paved walkways, tables, benches, parking in different areas, a lake, the ocean and the intercoastal all available to you in this one Park. There is a rental shop for various sports as well as a lovely casual restaurant with good food and adult beverages. As if that wasnt enough, theres a tunnel that brings you under the busy roadway so you and little ones can cross to the ocean in safety. The beach is large and lovely. The staff are friendly and helpful as well. Thank you...Well done.

Hugh Taylor is an oasis sandwiched between the beach and downtown. There park is decently maintained and has a lot to offer. You can walk, bike or rent a boat. You can see the waterway or just track into a Florida version of a forest. The park is surprising large considering its location.

Beautiful park with nice walking trails and activities. Pedal boats were a great way to see wildlife life including turtles and iguanas. However, I will admit they are exhausting and would probably do the kayaks instead next time. The restaurant was nice too, plenty of cold water and descent beers. Everything was reasonably priced.

It was an okay state park. I would consider it more of a park that you can bike, run, walk in. Not very big, lots of mosquitos right on the intracoastal, so thats a plus. Not much wildlife. But there is a meditation garden which was peaceful!

Finally received confirmation that the beautiful sapodilla trees at Birch Park were removed due to being a non native and supposedly invasive species. Never mind the fact that they had existed here for many decades with minimal to no impact on the environment of this isolated park. This was originally an estate where these, among other fruit trees, where planted by Hugh Taylor Birch. It was not intended to be a strict nature preserve, otherwise lets ban humans, dogs, kayaks, and shut down the bar. Oh, and close up the Ft Lauderdale Garden Club at the corner of the property too, a seedling from the Caribbean might escape, root itself and contaminate the whole area (sarcasm, they are great people).A curse on those who made this knee- jerk and short- sighted decision, I paid my 4 bucks to get in today but this will be the last time.

Very cool park right off the beach. Ran into accidentally and had a great time there. There was older gentleman that worked there that gave us a ride in his golf cart and showed us around and what we might want to check out more and told us all about the plants and animals in the park. They have bike, kayak, and Segway rentals and group tours. Its a beautiful, typical South Florida park, with lots of walking trails. One portion is right by the intracoastal, and Ive seen a manatee in the water there in the past. They have a dock specifically for the Water Taxi, as well. On the other side of the park they have a restaurant and beach access just across the street. We went there on a Hot day and sweating every step of our way. Of course that temperature (30 Celsius) was normal for Florida people. Not for those of us who came down from Canada...LoL. We saw two lovely tortoises there. One was very active, chewing on the grasses. Four people were watching it from just one step away, and it didnt bother at all! So cute. We also found a giant oak tree with hundreds of branches hanging down to the ground and became roots. It was amazing to find that treasure. There was a water taxi stop in the park. You can wave to hop on once it drives by. We paid 2 dollars per person for park entry. But then we found people can have free entry from the bar which has an open entry to the street.

This park was recommended to me by a friend after I had stated that I wanted to go bike riding. I would definitely say that it was one of the greatest experiences ever. There is a location there for bike rentals so I went and I rented a bicycle and basically we rode the bikes along the trails and then we actually exited the park and rode the bikes along Las Olas. It was definitely an amazing day there was also live music and the vibe is really great. I strongly recommend this park whether you decide to go bike riding or walking or canoeing. Hugh Taylor Park is one of the few places in the center of Fort Lauderdale that feels like an Caribbean Island. Small in size, it’s huge in activity & atmosphere. The small restaurant offers a list of healthy choices along with alcoholic beverages. View the sand & ocean surrounded by trees & live music. Take nothing but your wallet & rent a bike for the shady bike path, kayak on the Intracoastal or stroll the shady hiking paths. It hard to believe it’s a short walk from the popular Galleria Mall.

We stopped in there for the first time where we actually sat at the bar and had a drink and something to munch on...AWESOME. I was very excited to see the bar at the park was cleaned up and looking great. The bartender was awesome and actually, so was the food. I was pleasantly surprised and will definitely go back again very soon. Because the park closes at dusk...the bar is normally not open much past 7pm...but on the weekends and a Friday night they often stay open till 11 or so, and they have live music...Well done.!
