Amazing historical preservation of artifacts from WWI, WWII, Vietnam, IraqiFreedom and so much more. The Staff is friendly with vast knowledge that they readily shared. The Museum is self guided but I was fortunate to get a guided tour that brought the artifacts to life. Some of the many highlights are the Liscum Bowl, Saddams cash box and spider hole cover. While this is impressive, there is so much more. Outside are multiple tanks to see. It is all free and outside base so no passes needed.
It was Pleasant, but a total waste of time. As a retired E7 since 1971 using Fort Carson for all my doctor visits and meds plus many commissary visits, I feel like my family members in my vehicle with me should be able to enter the base with.no interference.
She was so happy that we found this base for her birthday. Since she was 3 years old she said, shes going to be in the military.
Excellent museum, full of information. Best of all its free and you dont have to enter the base to see it.
The Fort Carson Museum is a wonderful place to learn about the United States Army fourth infantry division. The history of the division goes back to World War II, to Vietnam, do you operation Iraqi freedom to the present day operations. You learn about the history about how Fort Carson Colorado has played a vital role in American military history. The staff of volunteers are wonderful all the exhibits inside and outside are educational. You will enjoy the tour of Fort Carson Colorado museum
It was fun to see. The inside museum is small but very interesting and its free. All around the outside parking lot are lots of tanks and a few other interesting things.
Great way to learn about 4th ID. Its not a huge collection of items but its enough to learn about the history of this post and its significance defending our freedom.
Went with the family from out of town. It was nice we enjoyed it I like the being able to tour war in history
Liked the way they set up museum showing WW1 to present day infantry exhibits. Loved the presentation on Iraq showing the captured box of american money by them.
A very well layed out space with much history to share. Very well done and free to see. No need to enter the post. It is located right outside the gate.
This museum was so interesting and a great stop! You do not have to go on base so it is so easy to do. The tour guide gave a lot of fun facts and it really was interesting information. It does not take up a lot of time and if you like military history you should go by. Pvt Gasch was a great guide the entire staff were very helpful and nice.
I worked here for a short time in 2014 during my PCS to fort Irwin, and was my last duty of fort carson. I loved all of the different eras covered in the collection, but still the coolest part for me was the fact that they have Saddams spider hole cover on display from his capture. If you havent been, stop by and get a dose of history. It also features a complete history of the beginnings of the 10th mountain division before they left for new York, and the story of the fort carson hospital in all of its incarnations through the ages.
The curator, Joe, is extremely knowledgeable and more than happy to share all of his knowledge of all the the artifacts. A really cool slice of history!
Was a little let down. The museum is actually part of the visitor center, right offpost. Its small...However, there are some pieces you are going to love. No spoilers. If youre already at Carson, check it out. But, it is too small for a dedicated trip. Like REALLY small.
Lots of great displays. My only regret is that the 10th Mountain Division is no longer there.
Well organized and clean. A little on the small side considering how vast the history of the post and division.
Really great place to visit. Staff was really knowledgeable about the items and super friendly. Great visit, highly recommend a visit.
We went to visit the museum for a field trip and the staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. You get a good history of the 4th division Infantry. Great place to visit and learn some history!
If you like military history, its a great way to spend a couple of hours.
Went here to get a visitors pass. Very quick and efficient. In and out in 10 minutes! Nice, very polite soldiers.
Easy access just outside gate to the Southside. It was good, I thought such a huge Army Post would of had more. What they do have is well displayed. Glad we went.
Great stop for anyone interested in the local military history of Colorado Springs.
Very cool exhibits. Not large and elaborate. Kept my interest. Favorite exhibit was Saddam in zip ties! It was quite interesting to see what possessions he had with him when he was caught.
Outstanding place. Highly enjoyed it and highly recommend it.
Great museum, with great exhibits. The museum was completely remodeled two and a half years ago
Very interesting and great place to view military articles.
Very informative. Kids loved learning of all the history
Neat if you havent seen old tanks and helicopters before.
Excellent displays inside and out.
This is a nice little museum just outside the main gate of Fort Carson (so you do not actually have to come onto post). Admittance is free but they accept tips. While a very small place, they pack a lot of history. The gentleman in charge has a vast amount of knowledge for not only everything in the museum but any of the other history on the post.
Sigh, The highlight of the place was the staff. The exhibits were OK with nothing outstanding. I travel a lot and visit numerous military museums - see my profile. Not sure if this museum was a check in the block for Ft Carson or is just underfunded but most of the stuff seemed canned and possibly not researched. I bet some of the old veterans would be glad to help with maintenance and upkeep of the vehicles on display. The whole we paint everything the same and fake bumper numbers on the display vehicles, is just an indication of the lack of attention to detail...
Outstanding short exhibit.
Awesome place to visit. So full of history. You cant just walk through. Makes you stop and appreciate what these men and women have gone through.
Worthwhile if youre stationed here
Great little museum to show some history
Great place to visit if youre into small military museums. We were just passing by and decided to stop by. I only wish the displays outside had labels of what each tank was. Im no armor expert, so couldnt figure out what one was or its history.
Great history explanations
Great historical preservation
A bit small. 10 minutes to walk through. At least its free.
Great museum easy parki g with a short walk around outside with military vehicles and memorial for Kit Carson and fallen soldiers from the war on terror
Excellent source of info and was a great time killer. Definitely would recommend
They gave a personal touch to each one of their displays one of the guys actually walked around with me and told me more in detail about each display and what war was like and what the Infantry soldiers had to go through highly recommended
Nice helpful folks. great stop along the way
Visitors center well run and people who assisted us were very pleasant and helpful.
Thankful for the history preserved and shared even in the parking lot here.
Beautiful base..... Got lots of amazing pictures....Fort Carson 4th Infantry Museum at the Visitors Center was humbling and emotional
Cozy free museum thats prefect for killing a half hour. Very interesting.
Great place to learn some history from your local military base!
