This place is certainly larger than what you expect when you first pull up to their parking lot.Once inside I was amazed at all the exhibits that connected history locally and throughout the state. They come up with different ideas that attract children to seniors. Truly an all-age full fun museum.

How can you NOT visit a dairy shrine when youre nearby? I noticed it on the map and my friend and I drove there from Madison, where Im vacationing. It was so interesting! Theres a fascinating collection of old dairy-farming implements downstairs. A timeline of important milestones in the history of dairy farming surrounds the walls of another room that has dioramas showing scenes from old farms. The other half is the Hoard Museum, a local history museum. We enjoyed the short video about the mounds built by Native Americans in the area, some from 1100 AD! There was more to see but we wore out after 3 hours. I want to return for the 130 quilts!

The house and museum always have an interesting exhibit and the staff is wonderful! Im not from Southern Wisconsin, so I feel like I learn something new each time I visit and gain an appreciation for the area!
